I have multiple things im worried over i called the gp to ask to speak to my midwife on the phone, they said no theyre not booking another appointment for me as I have one end of feb... she didnt even ask the problem just straight no.
I have emailed this midwife email on my notes twice.. no response in over a week even though about a month ago when I emailed them they replied within an hour
ive rang the non urgent midwife place on my notes too this morning around 9 am, they said someone will call me today and guess what no call! theyre shut now and dont open again till Monday 9am..
I cant tell you how fed up I am im so annoyed and feel so let down i have no idea what to do... I have no avenues left to contact why does everyone else seem to have there midwife's numbers etc can contact anytime of the day or night

Is there a number for the ante natal clinic at the hospital on the front of your notes or can you find it on their website. You can give them a call and they can give you some advice.
The one at my hospital was 24/7.

SleepingStandingUp · 02/02/2024 17:54

But also op those are things you can talk to your GP about. If you're really worried the other option is an OOH appt or urgent care

Mummapenguin20 · 02/02/2024 17:55

@ejndwejnfk i replied before I see any replies sorry. I would suggest ringing Labour and delivery so you can be triaged xx

I did see my gp about the fast heart about a week ago she was annoyed I had been booked in so fast rushed me out, just did basic checks like listing to my heart for literally 5 seconds said some peoples heart are faster.. and ignored the *visible pulse comment commepletly

You can call 111 any time
Mention swelling hands

excitedmama2be · 02/02/2024 18:16

Sounds more medical than midwife related
best off going to walk in centre or a&e

They’ve been like this for 2 weeks but have defo got a bit worse not crazy but my ring can still come off but you can see where there’s swelling around the ring o did speak to the midwife about this when i woke up and it first happened she said she would only be worried if it was my feet and hands and face and I had headache etc

to be honest I’m probably fine it’s all probably normal but I just like to check or I’ll feel guilty for the baby if something is wrong
if I ring 11 they just say go to a&e and I feel like that’s not needed:/

Don't you have a pregnancy or maternity assessment unit at the hospital? Separate to your midwife service?

If so, that's who you need to speak to. Especially mentioning the swelling of your hands.

So would it be bad to wait till Monday to ring back that non urgent number

I don’t have an other symptoms for the hand swelling. So I put it down to extra fluid

My PAU is open at the weekends too, have you checked yours?

What area are you in? Someone may be local and can advise.

Snowdropsarecoming · 02/02/2024 19:01

Definitely sounds like you need to speak to a GP.

Nursemumma92 · 02/02/2024 19:52

I would say if you have concerns, ring your maternity triage number and explain your concerns to them. They can tell you whether they feel they need to see you urgently, or whether to wait until Monday to see GP. The triage line is there for exactly that, to either advise people to come in and get checked out, or signpost them to what they should do next.
Hope you get some advice soon.
