Hi all

Ive had three positive tests and today went for a early viability 6 week scan

They have said they cannot see a baby yet and that I may have my dates wrong? Or I’m not pregnant at all. My first day of my last period was 23/10.

am I not pregnant?

my husband is devastated and I don’t know what to tell him.

Stupid question but were they deff positives? I know Evaps are very common! I'm really sorry either way this is a really emotional time for you and your husband. 6 weeks is still very early but I would have thought you'd be able to see a sac?xx

Mummymummy89 · 03/12/2023 15:55

6 weeks is really early, I don't even think those scans should be allowed.

[Scans just auto corrected to scams which is about right imo]

I'd wait and do another scan in at least two weeks

Roxcrose · 03/12/2023 16:02

Yes definitely positive! I’ve done three different tests and brands. I did another an hour ago and was positive too! X

Yeah I see what you mean my husband was furious with them. He obviously doesn’t know much about pregnancy ect and he said today was the last thing he needed. I shouldn’t of booked it. I feel awful now but I just thought something would be there if I had my dates correct ☹️

6 weeks is really early. Could they see anything at all? A sac maybe?

I had one at about 5.5 weeks maybe a day or so more and I had to go back 2 weeks later as couldn't see anything. All was fine. It's very common at that stage.

SpottyCrumpet · 03/12/2023 16:06

Was there nothing at all on the scan? At 6w there should be a sac.

Roxcrose · 03/12/2023 16:06

She said all she could say is that I did have very thick lining which I should have if I am pregnant? Does that sound right? Its all a blur now tbh. Did you have a sack at 5.5?

OP posts:
Roxcrose · 03/12/2023 16:07

Nothing ☹️

SpottyCrumpet · 03/12/2023 16:08

A sac is usually visible from as little as 4w I believe.

did she do a vaginal scan or only abdominal?

Roxcrose · 03/12/2023 16:08

She did both x

Why is your husband furious? He should be supporting you, not making you feel bad.

There was nothing on my 6 week scan (I had it for pain and bleeding). Three days later there was a pregnancy sac and two weeks later there was a heartbeat. I'm currently 22 weeks now.

Pregnancy is full of ups and downs. No need to get furious due to a hiccup.

Roxcrose · 03/12/2023 16:12

That’s great news. Praying I’m the same

he was furious with the scan he thinks they are a money scam and shouldn’t be offered so early

don’t worry he’s not upset with me I’m upset with myself for going x

SpottyCrumpet · 03/12/2023 16:12

Are you re booked for two weeks time? It could be the machinery / technique so I wouldn’t panic just yet.

id be slightly concerned about an ectopic pregnancy, can you contact EPU?

Roxcrose · 03/12/2023 16:14

They have sent a referral to EPU for bloods and will see me again in two weeks x

there is something a bit off about your dh

Roxcrose · 03/12/2023 16:27

DH?

OP posts:
glassyhag · 03/12/2023 16:29

Yeah your DH sounds like an absolute cock to be honest. "The last thing HE needs?" .... honestly, he sounds like a twat, what about what YOU needed? You know the woman that's actually having a vaginal scan and getting told there is no baby. He sounds totally compassionless towards you and honestly in your shoes I would be running for the hills.

Roxcrose · 03/12/2023 16:33

Yeah both people in a pregnancy have feelings unfortunately and he has as much right to be as upset as I am. Actually what I don’t need today is someone who knows nothing about my marriage telling me to leave my loving and supporting husband of 13 years because I said he’s upset I’m not pregnant lol. Nothing nice to say maybe don’t say anything at all. Thanks for your shitty opinion tho 👌🏼

Ok OP

but on the basis of your OP and follow up posts…. i’d be worried if this was a friend in RL

ChoupetteTheCat · 03/12/2023 16:36

Hope things work out for you.

Got to admit the word furious jumped out at me too. Fury and pregnancy scans don't really go together.

Roxcrose · 03/12/2023 16:38

Again Il say he’s not furious with me but with the companies that profit of doing these early scans

OP posts:
GenghisCalm · 03/12/2023 16:42

These companies only profit because people go for scans far too early.

Unless there is a medical need and done by a Doctor there is no need to have a scan so early where you risk not seeing anything and they stressing for weeks that there is something wrong.

sugarandsweetener · 03/12/2023 16:42

His wife pregnant isn’t pregnant

He is ”furious” with the company and thinks they’re a scam (on the basis of…. what?)

The op says he’s “devastated” and not what he needs right now

the op blames herself

So yes OP - your DH does come across as someone to be a bit a little concerned about

Woopooh · 03/12/2023 16:43

That sounds about as logical as going to Tesco and then being furious you bought shopping. It’s your choice to go there and pay for the scan. Plus it wasn’t for nothing as now it has obviously flagged up the lack of sac/foetus so you can be seen at EPAU and have follow ups there from now.

justanotherlaura · 03/12/2023 16:45

It's not a scam, some people ovulate really early and implant early and would see more on a 6 week scan. Everything I've read says to wait until 8 weeks because then you will definitely be able to see something if all is well. I've always waited until 8 weeks for that reason
