Period like pain only when relaxing - 38 weeks

Rainforest453 · 19/11/2023 20:50

Hi all

Since this morning i've had pain that feels the same as I get when i'm due on my period. Except it's only happening when i'm relaxing for e.g. in the morning in bed, then when I sat down to eat lunch and now when i'm watching tv. It's in my lower back and feels like a dull ache so not in waves

The pain disappeared when I was up and about cleaning etc. Has anyone else had this and how long after did you go into labour? I'm 38+4

Thanks in advance

I've had this since 36 weeks. I'm 39+0 today and baby has not made an appearance yet x

GreatGateauxsby · 19/11/2023 22:42

I’d be staying close to the hospital/not going too far. This was early labour for me…

PinkPlantCase · 19/11/2023 22:45

It doesn’t mean much, Labour could be tomorrow or it could be 2 weeks away. Just your body getting ready.

With my first I had period like cramps in the evenings for about a week before baby came. He arrived just after 41 weeks.

.... exciting !! <get the knitting needles out>

FirstMondayInMay · 19/11/2023 22:54

I’m 36+3 and have been getting the same pains on and off since yesterday, hopefully it’s a sign of things starting🤞🏼

Rainforest453 · 20/11/2023 10:07

Thank you all!! Today all of that pain's vanished. I was thinking something's about to start as it happened a few times but as it's all gone today i've put it down to just getting ready for labour which I understand could still be awhile away. Good luck @Tryingtoconceivenumber2 and @FirstMondayInMay ! X

Thank you. Yes mine comes and goes as well. Fingers crossed it will be a sign of something over the next week x

FirstMondayInMay · 20/11/2023 20:16

Thank you! I ended up in triage today for reduced movements but the monitor was picking up tightenings, only small but it’s a start!x

Rainforest453 · 21/11/2023 16:32

@FirstMondayInMay oh im sorry to hear you went in with reduced movements but glad to hear they saw the tightenings!! That's definitely a good sign. I really hope this happens soon for us! Could you feel the tightenings or did it just show on the monitor?

I had a mw appt today and she started to discuss a sweep on my due date next week, and induction when i'm 41+5. It all seemed a bit stressful so really hoping things start way before that point!

FirstMondayInMay · 21/11/2023 16:38

@Rainforest453 in typical fashion, he started moving like crazy as soon as they put the monitor on, made me look like I was making it up🤣 but yeah, I could feel the tightenings. There was a bit of a pattern to them, they said it could be very early labour because he’s still really high up in my pelvis

I'm hoping to start before being induced too, knowing it could take 4/5 days is putting me on edge!

have you been trying any of the old wives tales to try and get things going?

Rainforest453 · 21/11/2023 19:18

@FirstMondayInMay that is so exciting and definitely a positive sign! Have you got everything fully packed hospital bag wise? It could be any day now!

I've been using the ball but to be honest I could be using it way more. I haven't tried much else but I think I will go for a long walk tomorrow to see if that helps. I know they have to put a plan into place at the 38 week appt but for some reason it made me feel down lol. I refused the sweep for next week and will see how things go

Currently 37+1. I'm in hospital as we speak with labour pains. I'm originally booked in for c section on 29/11. However they are thinking of doing a cat 3 on me.

I've been in and out of hospital for 3 weeks and this being my 4th time here on the ward.

Hioe all goes well for you ladies

Rainforest453 · 22/11/2023 17:41

@jadey1991 oh i'm so sorry to hear you have been having such a rough time. When will you be having the cat 3, did they say a time? Sending hugs and will be thinking of you. Have you got someone with you atm? X

I'm not sure when I'll be having the cat 3.. I'm awaiting the doctors to come see me again. They did say hopefully it would be tomorrow but I'm not quite sure about that.. I've had my pre assessment done so that's good.
ATM I don't have anyone with me. But I'm hoping that once I know what's going on I can tell my partner to take my other children to his mums and he will come here

Rainforest453 · 23/11/2023 06:26

@jadey1991 i'm hoping they are able to let you know more so you have an idea of when things will happen. How are you feeling today?? Have you managed to get much sleep through it?
I have also gone into early labour this morning so will have ds dropped off at school and see how things go. All feeling very real now. Hope we will see our babies soon x

Well the doctors here don't like to look at notes so I've been having alot of issues this morning. Sleeping at night is a no go for me.
Aww bless ya hun how are you feeling now? Hope it all goes smoothly with you. Hope to hear updates x

DuploTrain · 23/11/2023 11:10

I had pains like this and kept wondering if it was the start of something.

All I can say is that when my labour actually started there was no doubting what was happening!

DuploTrain · 23/11/2023 11:11

Sorry didn’t see your last update. All the best! X

jadey1991 · 24/11/2023 09:22

Hi op how are you x

Rainforest453 · 26/11/2023 13:05

Hi @jadey1991 I just saw your update on another thread. I am so sorry you have still not had the c section. What are they giving you to manage the contractions? You must be utterly exhausted by now - it has been going on ages for you

I gave birth Friday after being induced. The contractions ramped up on Wednesday but a very slow progression, the baby's head was tilted sideways which was causing the latent phase so they induced me and I had him Friday evening

OP posts:
Rainforest453 · 26/11/2023 13:12

@jadey1991 did they say why they changed their mind about the c section? Otherwise it will be 29th but when you're having contractions like that every hour is agony I know. I'm so sorry they just left you like this? From the other thread I started, the midwife you asked advised me to speak with the doctor and said I can ask them to intervene as there's no progression - you are definitely within your rights to do that

Oh hun I'm absolutely exhausted now. I've been getting more period like pains now since yesterday. I'm in no rush to get to the hospital tho. I'm just gonna play it by ear now.

Aww congratulations 🎊 hun. Aww u must be so over the moon. What a blessing. Was he a big boy? Are you at home all settled

They said because the admin staff didn't put it in the diary and that day was fully booked. They keep telling me to take paracetamol but there is no point taking them as they don't help. I'll see what doctor will say.. as I have no more midwife appointments now.
