Why are you still doing tests? They are only to confirm pregnant or not, they arent there to track progression. If you are not bleeding then the signs are there that all is fine. If you are concerned you can book a private test but honestly, put the bloody tests down, ridiculous thing to be doing and causing yourself unnecessary stress over.

Pearly1 · 10/11/2023 08:40

That’s a bit harsh!! I have had non stop cramping and pain since I found out so I’m naturally going to be worried especially when my body struggles to carry babies!!

I agree with pp, why are people continually testing these days ? It’s just causing anxiety and wasting money/environmental damage.

Cinai · 10/11/2023 08:48

I understand that you are concerned. Can you get an early scan, either with EPU or private?

It is bonkers! The test is there to confirm if you are pregnant or not. To keep doing them week after week is insane. I did two tests on day 1 and that was it, they confirmed I was pregnant.

OP, all you are doing is stressing yourself out which is terrible for pregnancies. Id suggest get yourself an early reassurance test, they arent that expensive.

Aria2015 · 10/11/2023 08:50

@Pearly1 can you ask for an early scan or get bloods drawn to check your hcg levels? I would expect the tests to have progressed more tbh (and I say that as someone who is a prolific tester due to multiple miscarriages). I know they're not designed to show progression as such, but they do react to hcg levels and they rise as a pregnancy progresses and so the line / weeks generally increase too. Sorry if that's not the reassurance you wanted, I sympathise hugely with the anxiety of not knowing and worrying something is wrong. I will say though, that if you're not bleeding, then there is still definitely a chance everything is fine. A scan or blood test would hopefully put your mind at rest. Good luck x

Kiwiburgh · 10/11/2023 08:51

I wouldn't say it's ridiculous at all. That's very harsh. Though it is true it just feeds anxiety with even more anxiety and worry. I've been there and I understand. Technically the last poster Is correct in that pregnancy tests shouldn't be used as a progression tool.
However
Generally speaking your tests should be much darker at 7 weeks and the digital Ideally should be 3+ ( there are some though that I've heard never get to 3+. )
If I were you I'd be asking my GP for hcg blood test or even a scan to ease anxiety.
I don’t want to make you feel worse but this is how i knew I was having a chemical.
It's impossible to know right now with only pregnancy tests alone but I wouldn't get my hopes up too high :(
I'd also reccomend you stop testing, it won't give an answer, only more stress and tears.
I've been there and I know how awful and lonley this feels.
I really do hope this works out for you though. big hugs 🙏

Hi hun, I had this and I was diagnosed with a pregnancy of unknown location with EPU. It turned out to be ectopic in the end and I needed emergency surgery. I would get a scan with EPU or private to see what's going on inside or get them to test your HCG levels.

Lavenderhazee · 10/11/2023 12:37

I think the other posters are being harsh as well, not to worry the OP but the rising HCG would normally be picked up on tests darkening. There are countless threads on this forum with this same problem, the outcome is not always favourable. Just because there’s no bleeding doesn’t mean everything is progressing. OP I wound contact the EPU or book a private scan for reassurance.

Hiddenvoice · 10/11/2023 12:42

I would gently tell you to stop testing. You’re stressing yourself out which isn’t healthy for you or the baby.
You could speak to Epu and ask for an early scan but they may want symptoms before scanning. Failing that, I’d encourage you to book a private scan jusg for reassurance.

My tests were incredibly faint, I tested nearly everyday and compared them and honestly it was the worst thing I did. I was making myself sick with worry. With both of my pregnancies I had cramping, bloating and just felt really uncomfortable but was told by the midwife that some cramping is normal, severe cramping and bleeding is when they would be worried.

Have you made any contact with a midwife?

At 7 weeks, a midwife isnt going to be interested, they were barely interested when I miscarried at 16 weeks. Neither were doctors or 111.

Best to pay for private. Although you will need to remind yourself that reassurance only lasts for as long as you are having the scan. Once you walk out you are back to square one as to whether the pregnancy continues to be healthy.

ohbaby24 · 10/11/2023 15:20

Yes you should be showing as higher than 1-2 weeks by now.

You mentioned pain, is it significant? Could be ectopic?

I'd get yourself an appointment with the doctor and chat through with them.

cherryscola · 10/11/2023 15:30

Although i don't think it's a good idea to torture yourself with line progressions , you have already done it and in all honesty I would be having a reassurance scan based on those tests.

However, on the other hand - with my miscarriage my tests were amazing. Darkened as you'd expect, had 3+ on a digital. It didn't mean anything in the end - I miscarried at 8 weeks.

Wallflower1988 · 10/11/2023 15:34

Hi there,

whilst it is not generally recommended to continue testing/ I have had 2 ectopic pregnancies and 2 ‘normal’ pregnancies (one ending in missed miscarriage at 8 weeks). Both my ectopics I knew something was happening before I was scanned because my tests were progressing very slowly (I had no other symptoms). With my other two pregnancies the tests got darker and week indicators progressed as expected. This isn’t to scare you or suggest this is happening to you- I have a very specific situation that is highly unusual, but I’m saying if you are worried get yourself checked out- I didn’t do that first time and drove myself crazy until I eventually found out I was right. It could equally be that your urine concentration isn’t so strong or other factors could impact on this.

What I would say is that if you’re experiencing pain and are worried call your local early pregnancy unit. Because you have had some pain they may want to do a blood test to measure your HCG or do an ultrasound. They probably won’t care much that the tests haven’t got darker but I would mention this too. I always have scans at 6 weeks now having had ectopics (as directed from the early pregnancy unit), if I wasn’t offered this and experienced anxiety I would just book a private scan.

good luck OP fingers crossed!!

Hiddenvoice · 10/11/2023 16:38

@Screwballs not sure why you’re being harsh to the op here.

In regards to my post, I had problems at 6 and then 8 weeks and my midwife and Epu couldn’t have been nicer or more supportive. I know it depends on your area but there is no harm in reaching out to a midwife for reassurance. Some may not bat an eyelid but others will support in any way they can.

You’re right that a scan will provide a short burst of reassurance but even still, it might help to ease the op’s nerves.

Pearly1 · 10/11/2023 17:08

The pain become quite worse so I called my antenatal clinic and they suggested going to a+e as the pain was travelling up to my shoulder. They have done a scan and there is nothing in my uterus at all only some fluid, they think baby has implanted somewhere else. The symptoms I’m showing point to ectopic so they are keeping me in overnight in case of rupture and will make a plan tomorrow morning 😞

@Pearly1 I'm really sorry to hear this, i hope you have lots of love and support right now.

Sorry to hear this @Pearly1 and well done for trusting your gut

Horrible, inaccurate and unnecessary reply.

So sorry you for what you are going through OP but I’m glad you are being looked after.

Wallflower1988 · 10/11/2023 17:39

Oh I’m so sorry to hear that Pearly. You are in good hands. From experience I can say it’s utter shit when this happens. I had methotrexate my first and then surgery my second. Both were fine, finding out in the first place is the worst bit. Whatever happens you will be well looked after. Try to get as much support and love as you can from those around you and take lots of time to recover, it’ll go by in a blur.

Pearly1 · 10/11/2023 17:43

@Screwballs Shows your comment was completely inaccurate as I’ve had NO bleeding yet something is wrong and I have lost my baby. Maybe think before you post in future.

OP posts:
Bleepbloopbluurp · 10/11/2023 18:30

I read your OP and was coming on to comment that you should listen to your instincts here. I've had two ectopics and while I never had any of the "classic"
symptoms (or pain for that matter) I have had some oddly behaving pregnancy tests. Glad you are being looked after OP. I hope it's sorted out soon and that you are OK.

Mamato29192 · 10/11/2023 18:44

Sorry you are going through this. Hope you're okay x

QueenofTerrasen · 10/11/2023 18:52

@Screwballs - you owe op a huge apology for your shitty and unnecessary comments. You should be ashamed.

Op, I'm very sorry. Lots of love x
