Our choices so far :

Theodora
Teddie (rather than Theodora as a full name)
Penelope
Hazel
Violet
Ada
Lyla

middle name likely to be Elizabeth or Florence

Surname one syllable beginning with H

I love them all but don’t have just Teddie as her name.

My favourite from the list is Ada or Theodora

ItsNotRocketSalad · 13/08/2023 18:13

Definitely not Teddie.

Theodora and Penelope will get shortened by others and you won't be able to control it. Do you like all the possibilities? I really dislike Dora, for example.

The rest are okay. Too 'old lady' for me but I understand that's the current trend.

ShoesoftheWorld · 13/08/2023 18:17

I like Theodora, Penelope and Ada (although the latter doesn't travel well - in a lot of countries it could be pronounced as Ah-da). Theodora is my favourite. Penelope Elizabeth and Theodora Florence make great twin names, actually (though I get you're only having one!). Please not Teddie as a full, birth certificate name - then she's stuck with it and has no options for something more grown up. Hazel is OK. I don't understand the love for Violet. And Lyla is just not nice - very different in feel from your other names.

Ionapussy · 13/08/2023 18:17

Violet

LynnImstuckontheringroad · 13/08/2023 18:18

I'd go for Hazel, then Violet from that list.

Definitely not Teddie or Lyla. Sounds like Lycra.

VinEtFromage · 13/08/2023 18:19

Penelope Elizabeth

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 13/08/2023 18:22

Prefer Aida to Ada.

Hazel my favourite on your list.

What about Lyra instead of Lyla?

AwkwardSquad · 13/08/2023 18:23

Theodora Violet

teatime2022 · 13/08/2023 18:29

I thought I’d throw Teddie out there as it’s my favourite nn used for Theodora. I find Theodora quite long and it doesn’t really roll off the tongue.. this is my only reservation, it was my favourite name up until recently and now I’m swinging towards Hazel or Violet. 🤔🤔

How about Thea?

Ellmau · 13/08/2023 18:32

Theodora Florence with Teddie as nickname.
Hazel Elizabeth.

If you go for Violet, steer clear of Elizabeth as middle name.

17caterpillars1mouse · 13/08/2023 18:53

I like Ada best

I don't like Teddie at all

Gnomegnomegnome · 13/08/2023 18:56

Ada

Cowlover89 · 13/08/2023 19:00

Violet

Northby · 13/08/2023 19:01

In my experience Theodore is very common boys name at the moment so there will be a lot of Teddies in her class.

All the names are lovely. You could wait until she is born and see what feels best rolling off the tongue when you refer to her?

supersonicginandtonic · 13/08/2023 19:06

I don't understand all the hate for lyla on this site. It's a lovely name 🤷‍♀️
From your list I like violet, Hazel, lyla and Penelope (penny)

sashastuck · 13/08/2023 19:29

Ada or Violet

teatime2022 · 13/08/2023 20:43

Thank you!! I’m getting lots of love for Ada, Violet and Hazel! ❤️ I’m not keen on Thea alone which is also another reason I’m going off Theodora, because you’re unable to control nicknames at school etc!

ThomasinaLivesHere · 13/08/2023 20:47

Violet was going to be our name for a girl but we’re having our second boy. So that’s my favourite.

calmcoco · 13/08/2023 20:51

Penelope NN Penny is the best on this list.

Peony654 · 13/08/2023 20:53

Definitely not Teddie - terribly for an adult. I personally don’t like long names so I’d go for Thea or Penny.

shoopshoopdedoo · 13/08/2023 20:55

Penelope and Hazel are my favourites. I like Tessie but only as a nickname for Theodora. Dislike Violet and Ada.

shoopshoopdedoo · 13/08/2023 20:55

*Teddie!

ShadowPuppets · 13/08/2023 20:56

DC2 would have been Hazel if he’d been a girl so that’s my vote!

FatCatatPaddingtonStation · 13/08/2023 20:59

Penelope is my favourite by a country mile, but I prefer the nn Nell. I do like Penny too though.
