Pregnancy

should be 7+9 only yolk sac visible 😢

Looking for some positive stories 😕

this is my second pregnancy, went for an early scan today, from my LMP I should be 7+9. The sonographer could only see a yolk sac and said she estimated I’m only 5-6 weeks.

From my 2 possible conception dates I could either be 7+9 or 6+9 so I asked if I could have had a missed miscarriage, she said it’s possible.

one thing giving me hope is she said I have a tilted womb so baby could be there but hard to detect. Wants me to go back in 5 days to rescan

please does anyone have any similar success stories? 🙏🏼 xx

I don’t think you understand the dating numbers. It’s impossible to be 7+9. 7 is how many weeks and the number after the + is how many days, as there’s only 7 days in a week it’s impossible to be +9.

Sorry 7+6, I’d be 8 weeks tomorrow

Do you have regular cycles usually? I had an early scan today at 8+2, but I know I’m that far as I was tracking ovulation. If I went by lmp i would have calculated at 10+4. If you ovulated later than expected that can affect the dates

@Twoinapod congratulations!

my cycle had consistently been 38/39 days for around 7 months then November and December 29 and 30 days. So maybe I did ovulate late. We did only do the deed on two occasions, by the next time we slept together I had already had my BFP. That’s why I think I could only be 7+6 or 6+6 x

@OverdueFirstTimeMama with my first I had a regular 28 day cycle and got BFP the day af was due. At my 12 week scan I was only measuring 10 weeks, so it would have worked out that i conceived at the same time I got my BFP which is obviously impossible. She’s now an 11 year old. Never found an explanation for her being two weeks behind, never caught up those two weeks either. It can happen sometimes

I think they must be slightly off, I just had an early scan. I thought I was 7 plus 4 going by date of LMP. I was dated a week behind at 6 plus 3. When I count back that takes me to 3 days before I had sex?

I'm kinda confused though with dates, does the ultrasound date from the date of conception as dont we all measure from date of LMP? So won't everybody be 2 weeks behind..

@Whatnow10 no ultrasound measures with 2 weeks added on so should be around the same as lmp if you have a regular 28 day cycle.

The waiting is horrible OP I am going through similar, I went for an early scan last Tuesday due to bleeding after my positive test and they couldn't see anything in my uterus, so I am back in on Tuesday for another re scan as they said it might be too early for anything to show up on the scan as my HCG levels weren't above 1500/2000 which is what they should be to see a sac.
When they said come back in a week I just cried, but if I can give any advice I'd try to find something to take your mind off waiting to go back for the scan keep your self busy, watch your favourite films and get out and about. Keep your mind busy.
It's hard but your scan will soon be here 🥰 x

Thank you @CrystalQueen87 sending you so much love and luck for your rescan xx

@Whatnow10 out of curiosity, what could you see on the scan? Today she couldn’t see a fetal pole even, just a yolk sac and said 5/6 weeks but did say my womb is tilted x

Can I join? I'm under a recurrent miscarriage clinic and this pregnancy was through letrazole so I had a trigger on cd15. I went for a scan on weds when I was 6+5 but it was only measuring 5+5, but it did have a "faint heartbeat". I'm going back on Thursday for another scan.

What have the experts said to you? For mine, they are concerned as I had a trigger so it shouldn't be a whole week out. I think it's less of a concern if you are unsure of approx ovulation. I've had 4 previous losses.

@OverdueFirstTimeMama they didn't say much just that I was measuring behind, but I could see a heartbeat. It's such a worrying few weeks. Good luck to you

Hi @seven201 sending you so much love and luck and hope you have good news on Thursday.

she told me to try not to worry and said my womb is tilted so there could be something there further back but all she could see was a yolk sac, no fetal pole no heartbeat etc and said that would put me at ‘5 weeks, 6 at a push’. 😕 we thought we would be 8 weeks today

Hi,
Sorry you’re going through this, I’m sorry I can’t add a positive personal experience but I’m also going through similar

I also had an early scan yesterday. From my LMP should have been 9 + 5 weeks. The sonographer said I was measuring around 7 weeks - she could see the yolk sac, fetal pole and a heartbeat on mine - but I am measuring further ahead than you. The dates just don’t add up as I got a positive test on 10/2 which would have been around ovulation.

She said not to worry and to rebook a scan in 10 days which I have. But I think the natural response is to worry, although I’m trying to stay positive.

I’ve been reading up lots last night, as it was all I could think about - there is lots of positive stories out there that do give hope.
Also scans aren’t always accurate as it is working in mm at this stage and I have read up that a titled womb can make them even less accurate.

Try to stay as positive as possible until the scan and here to chat if you need too.

Best wishes,
Laura

@OverdueFirstTimeMama thank you. Good luck! When is your scan?

@Lauraann8830 good luck to you also. It's such a horrible limbo place to be in.

Good luck to you @Lauraann8830 and thank you for your kind words. Also here to chat to you if you need someone to talk to, especially whilst you wait for your next scan.

@seven201 my midwife has booked me in for an internal scan on Tuesday morning, so will just have to see what happens and pray for good news

Thank you @seven201 it really is such a horrible limbo isn’t it. I’m trying to distract myself with films and boxsets and stay as positive and relaxed as I can. Good luck on Thursday - will keep everything crossed for you.

Good luck on Tuesday @OverdueFirstTimeMama an internal scan should give you a much clearer picture than an abdominal scan at this stage especially with a tilted uterus. Keeping everything crossed for you.

The waiting is so hard. Trying to keep myself busy too until Tuesday. Just praying I was too early on for anything to be seen on the ultrasound x

Does anyone know what their endometrial thickness is? Mine says 6mm on my report and I'm not sure if that's normal for very early pregnancy? X

@CrystalQueen87, good luck for Tuesday, definitely wise to keep busy to distract yourself whilst waiting. I unfortunately didn’t get a report, just got very vague information - measuring around 7 weeks, she could see yoke sac, fetal pole and heartbeat. Try not to obsess over every detail on the report - although I know it’s harder said than done.

Hi- I had a scan at EPU on Saturday at 5+5 and all they could see was an empty sac, he measured the sac as 6+3 - slightly confused as I'm 6 weeks today.

I'm not holding out much hope as in my past two pregnancies you could see baby by now.
Have had some mild cramping this morning but no blood or anything.

I thought about maybe going for a private scan but not sure if that's a ridiculous idea 🙈

Hi - sorry you’re going through this - try to stay positive (I know it’s easier said than done) and remember every pregnancy is different so try not to compare them too much, even to your own previous ones.

Remember 5+5 or even 6+3 is very early so there’s a good chance to not be able to see anything and everything still be okay.

From what I’ve been reading there measurements are accurate only to 5 to 7 days so it’s likely you were around 5+5 on your scans and they’ve just got dates out slightly with measurements.

I’d recommended waiting for your next NHS scan if you can and ring EPU or your midwife if you’ve got any concerns in the meantime and here to chat if you need to.
