should be 7+9 only yolk sac visible 😢

Looking for some positive stories 😕

this is my second pregnancy, went for an early scan today, from my LMP I should be 7+9. The sonographer could only see a yolk sac and said she estimated I’m only 5-6 weeks.

From my 2 possible conception dates I could either be 7+9 or 6+9 so I asked if I could have had a missed miscarriage, she said it’s possible.

one thing giving me hope is she said I have a tilted womb so baby could be there but hard to detect. Wants me to go back in 5 days to rescan

please does anyone have any similar success stories? 🙏🏼 xx

Thank you @OverdueFirstTimeMama I’m struggling a bit today.

I phoned midwife yesterday and she didn’t seem concerned, she said because there was a heartbeat they don’t want to see me until 12 week scan unless I get pain/bleeding - she did reassure me a bit - said it could be late ovulation if I have long periods (mine are short at 24-26 days), baby could have been in a bad position to measure or an unqualified sonographer as it was a private scan.

Tried to request a report from the private scan clinic today to get a bit more information but they said they don’t offer reports this early in pregnancy (which is a bit of a red flag to me). Don’t know whether to go back here for my follow up scan in a week - they don’t offer internal scans and I’d prefer to be at the hospital if it was bad news and don’t know if I’d trust them if it was good news. Don’t know whether just wait for my 12 week scan which is just over 2 weeks away?

Sorry to ramble but my head as been all over the place today.

So so happy for you though :)

@Lauraann8830 you're not rambling, totally understandable for you to be feeling this way and sorry that you are struggling.

could your GP refer for you an internal at all if you don’t want to wait for 2 weeks?

if it makes you feel any better at all the lady who scanned me today said it’s so common for them to see women earlier than 12 weeks because they have been made anxious by private early scans. She said they shouldn’t be allowed as they don’t have the correct equipment to see the full picture and ideally all early scans should be internal because what’s being measured is so small - even 1mm reading wrong makes a huge difference.

stay strong, you’ve seen that little heartbeat 🤍

@OverdueFirstTimeMama thank you, that’s actually really helped. I don’t feel like I’m going crazy and what your sonographer said to you today is reassuring.

I might phone GP up and see if there’s any chance of being referred for an internal scan.

Thank you so much.

If you can find a medical imaging clinic rather than a 'window to the womb' type place then you'd receive an internal scan and probably measurements.

As I mentioned I'm under a recurrent miscarriage clinic (a private one) and all scans are internal. I really wouldn't trust an external one pre 10 weeks ish.

seven201 · 22/03/2023 17:34

@OverdueFirstTimeMama a few days out is absolutely fine Smile

Lauraann8830 · 22/03/2023 18:21

@seven201 Thank you, that’s a good suggestion I’m going to see if I can find one near me.

Good luck for tomorrow.

Somewhere like this.

Lauraann8830 · 22/03/2023 19:49

@seven201 thank you so much, just looked and there’s a clinic not far from me at all so going to look at booking :)

Sadly I didn't get the update I wanted at my scan, they saw the baby in my right fallopian tube and it even had a little heart beat 💔
I had emergency surgery yesterday which was not expected it was such a blur everything happened so fast. They removed the tube and baby I am beyond devastated 💔

Unfortunately it was bad news for me too yesterday, started spotting so managed to get a scan at EPAU. Baby had stopped measuring at 6 weeks 4 days and no heartbeat found (should have been 10 weeks 4 days). 💔 The nurses were amazing and so supportive. Got a D&C booked for a week on Monday if nothing happens before. 💔

Thinking about all the ladies and their families who are also struggling with loses and wishing those with successful pregnancy a happy and healthy 9 months. ❤️

seven201 · 25/03/2023 12:06

@Lauraann8830 so sorry to read this. My last miscarriage was similar to yours. Nothing happened for me until I had medical management, but d&c is a good option too. Look after yourself x
