Does everyone's belly button pop out?

I'm a bit squeamish and really not looking forward to this ( although I suppose it'll be a good opportunity to give it a good clean). I'm 26 weeks now and no sign of outward movement or even flattening, do you think I'll get away with it?....hopeful emoticon.

I am 29 weeks and mine is on its way out. Nice.

babylove21 · 18/01/2008 15:26

oooooo leonie TMI

doggiesayswoof · 18/01/2008 15:29

No, not this time as yet (22 weeks) or last time. Just goes a bit flat.

PinkElephant · 18/01/2008 18:53

No mine is still an inny....but only just and I'm 40wks + 6days now

shergar · 19/01/2008 18:36

Mine popped out with my second pregnancy, and I was so freaked out that I stuck it down with a plaster so it wouldn't show through my clothes

Seems ludicrous now that I'm not in a hormonal cloud!

pobletsmum · 19/01/2008 21:59

I'm 36+3 and mine is definitely still an 'inney'. I agree with those who have talked about being able to give it a rare clean, and about the skin being tender. I'm fairly confident that mine won't pop out (didn't last time) as I still can't see the end!!! i.e. there are still creases disappearing inside my belly. Actually it's as though it's tethered deep inside, and my whole bump has a slightly flat front where my belly button is - wierd!

ScienceTeacher · 19/01/2008 22:02

Mine didn't. It flattened on one side, but never did the full inversion.

daydreambeliever · 19/01/2008 22:52

Oh dear mine is so gross now. It popped out and looked ridiculous. Its kind of baggy and wierd now, and because DD was all out the front, have v odd strechy saggy skin all round my hideous navel. OK, and even more emabrrasing the skin in my belly button is kind of brownish, like scarred or something. Still, just 5 minutes ago my little darling was have a great old time grabbing at mummys funny tummy, so it comes in handy. But actually it crosses my mind TBH whenever I think about having another, God, Ill have that ridiculous belly button thing again. It was embarrasing!!!

RuthChan · 20/01/2008 11:39

I have a very deep one, but it still popped out towards the end of my pregnancy.
I have to say that it wasn't disgusting, it didn't freak my out and it wasn't uncomfortable in any way.
After the birth it returned to its original condition and is none the worse for the experience.

millie1 · 20/01/2008 11:50

Mine hasn't in previous two pregnancies but is showing signs of doing so this time around ... is almost flat and sticks out a tiny bit at the top. I'm only 20w (but having twins) so heaven knows what I'm going to be like after another 18 weeks!

moljam · 20/01/2008 12:03

mine did badly!no one told me it would happen !i couldnt disguise it under clothes as was really eally out!that was with all 3 pregnancies!worse in first though.but maybe because i was expecting it in 2nd and 3rd

Chocolatl · 21/01/2008 10:55

god i miss my belly button. its not outy now (was when large with child) but its all stretched and the piercing hole looks rubbish. still, the whole middle section is not likely to exposed to anyone much forever more anyway so i dont spose it matters much. unless of course i actually do my NY resolution and work out and get fit HAR HAR

Flibbertyjibbet · 21/01/2008 11:09

No, mine didn't pop out either time. I had HUGE bumps and my belly button just seemed to stretch with it and turned into a bigger and bigger crater! Now its like a massive dimple in my jelly belly and ds1 pokes it and says 'mummy got a BIGGGGGGG belly button!'.

jenpet · 21/01/2008 14:06

Mine never popped, but at about 38 weeks the naval ring got horribly stretched and tight and DH had to get it out with plyers as it was so tight! Bit early for popping out with DC2 yet....

Belgianchocolates · 21/01/2008 20:24

Ooh, quite like this thread. Mine just got perfectly flat twice. Found it brilliant: it didn't collect any fluff and got the best wash for years (I find the inside of belly buttons very hard to get to properly).

macaco · 21/01/2008 22:50

If you've got a really deep, could smuggle maltesers kind of belly button like mine it's damn near impossible to clean properly so I suppose the advantage would be giving it a once in a lifetime spring clean. Still creeps me out though. Not looking forward to dealing with baby's super weird one (that will drop off?)
