Does everyone's belly button pop out?

I'm a bit squeamish and really not looking forward to this ( although I suppose it'll be a good opportunity to give it a good clean). I'm 26 weeks now and no sign of outward movement or even flattening, do you think I'll get away with it?....hopeful emoticon.

31 weeks and no popping as yet, though it has flattened out - and like TRQ says, the skin from inside is v tender! The whole thing makes me feel quite squeamish, tbh. bleeee.

LoveAndSqualor · 17/01/2008 13:49

ooh and - to anyone who's has popped out - does the popping hurt?! bleeee again ...

ingles2 · 17/01/2008 13:51

mine didn't either

CountessDracula · 17/01/2008 13:52

Nope

I knew someone who had triplets and hers popped out pretty early and then expanded to the size of a fried egg

TheYoungVisiter · 17/01/2008 13:53

mine didn't pop - it just went flat. I have quite a deep tummy button normally though - not sure if that affects it!

peanutbutterkid · 17/01/2008 13:54

No it doesn't hurt, I'm not even sure when my went outie (around 35 weeks?). At least it was a sign that bump was getting bigger even as they tried to tell me it wasn't measuring big enough.
Look, I'm going to try to say this gently... there are MUCH more disgusting pregnancy things that can happen than belly button popping out, I wouldn't even rate it, tbh.

Rantmum · 17/01/2008 14:52

Yeah, I am afraid peanutbutterkid is right. My popped bellybutton was a curiousity at best, now ask me about hemerroids (sp?) and I will tell you about serious discomfort and general yukkiness...

dillinger · 17/01/2008 16:42

I have an outy so it has always popped out to a certain extent...lol Pregnant with second baby now and I cant say it bothers me, there are other things more likely to make me freak!

serenity · 17/01/2008 16:44

None of mine did, but that's because they were all OP (so nothing to push it out)

Sanwi · 17/01/2008 16:54

mine didn't but i really wanted it to. judging by everyone else's comments, that makes me a bit odd though i think it's because i'm usually an innie, having an outie for a while had a certain novelty value

anyway, it just went totally flat in the end

JingleyJen · 17/01/2008 16:55

mine didn't with either pregnancy

Oblomov · 17/01/2008 17:53

Mine didn't and I was glad it didn't. Some peoples pop out nicely and some are ... well, rite unattractive. Some peoples look really horrible. Is that due to how they are cut as a baby ?
Why does it happen ?

Haylstones · 17/01/2008 17:56

34 weeks and mine popped a while ago... doesn't bother me really, plenty other unattractive pg symptoms!

Haylstones · 17/01/2008 17:57

I could actually taunt you with photos of my sticky outy but fear it would freak you out even more than now

Mine didn't pop out all the time, but did if i was leaning forward or crouching down.
It really used to freak my dh out which i thought was hilarious!

beeper · 17/01/2008 19:12

SHUDDER......NO WAY.

iampgatlast · 17/01/2008 19:13

mine stayed an innie for a long time, then it went to half in half out and now it is a proper outtie i didnt even notice it as it happened gradually.

occasionally it goes back in but that must be when bubs has moved position?! im now 38+2 btw and it has only been the last few weeks its a proper outtie

beeper · 17/01/2008 19:13

Womba.....your DH must need therapy!!!

FourPlusOne · 17/01/2008 20:48

mine was really deep before I had children and went shallower when pregnant with DC1. Has stayed quite shallow between pregnancies but gets flatter as I get bigger! Don't think I would have minded too much if it had though. Maybe it will this time!

babylove21 · 18/01/2008 02:49

I had an outy to begin with .
so who knows why some of us ended up with an outy, before pregnancy i mean ?? Would love to know.

PuppyDogEyes · 18/01/2008 08:08

i had a deep Innie. mine's popped. love it, part of the whole preg experience!
but i'm all sticking out the front, with anterior placenta, and not having put mch weight on, unfortch, my skins quite tight and stretched.

chance for a good clean, as mentioned in OP! even found a skintag i knew nothing about in there! (don't throw up!!)

when i had a heavy cough, it would go in and out when i coughed (well prbably belly moving rather than the button.) again, don't throw up!!!

love it, embrace it!! (esp when DH is freaked out by it!)

MrsJohnCusack · 18/01/2008 08:59

oh mine didn't either time thank goodness, even though I had mahoosive 10 pounders. It is really deep though

Mine is normally very much inny - and from about 17 weeks this time (baby 4!), it has been an outy! (I do look as big as some women do at full term by now - even though I'm only 20 weeks..... and no it's not twins either!!!).
