Is pregnancy not the most overrated thing?!?!

Say its not just me.
I'm 28 weeks, in the last 10 minutes I've just had to apply thrush cream, piles cream, take lactulose, 2 gaviscon, my 3rd antibiotic of the day and 2 paracetamol.
I'm not sat with a hot water bottle on my back having fairly painful braxton hicks, wanting to fall asleep but in too much pain to even consider it 😅 (not just the BH)
This is in fact my fourth pregnancy and I disliked all of them. Luckily it's all short lived and you get a great reward at the end of it. But seriously when am I going to start being radiant and bloom??

🤣 whole heartedly agree. And I'm laughing with you not at you. Currently 13 weeks with number 3 and I'm still tired, still nauseous, cant look directly at the most mundane things in case I feel ill/cry... It's pathetic. Pregnancy is so so HARD.

And I bet, like me, you have no shame left. "Need to see something? Sure, have a good look!" I'm pretty sure I spent the last two weeks of pregnancy with ds1 with no knickers on in fact 🙄

I hope the rest of your pregnancy goes well OP.

Liliana07 · 18/03/2022 20:28

Yep!! Haha went to hospital for a bleed last week and the midwife on duty was like can I have a look at your pad please and I was just like yep there you go!! 🙈
Hopefully the nausea will wear off for you soon! I couldn't handle any strong smell at all til about 14 weeks in this one.

Totally agree - but I am genuinely amazed anyone goes through it a second time. I was very happy to never, ever experience it again and am delighted with my only DC (& he's 21 now so no chance I would change my mind Grin).

AwkwardPaws27 · 18/03/2022 20:36

Yup.
29 weeks, 5 doses of thrush, polymorphic eruption of pregnancy rash from my chin to my ankles, prescribed drowsy antihistamines so absolutely shattered constantly, & to top it of I'm awaiting an appointment with the stroke clinic as I had a suspected TIA two weeks ago. Oh, & pooing hurts so I think I'm getting piles too.

MrsSkylerWhite · 18/03/2022 20:37

Yep, it can be crap.

Hand on heart though, the results were very much worth it. Especially now they’re adults (will just skip over the childhood years Grin)

Ruibies · 18/03/2022 20:38

God yes. Pregnant with my first and hating every moment. If it's not vomit then it's heartburn or piles or pelvic pain or my back kicking off. 9 months has never seemed so long. I've got around 8 weeks left and I'm counting down the days and hoping the end result is worth it 🤣 but based on this experience we are one and done, when before pregnancy I thought I wanted 3-4!

TaylorsSwimShorts · 18/03/2022 20:40

Yep... almost 37 weeks... I've been done for at least 10 weeks, I'm sore , achey, feel like a lethargic whale and I'm at the point of cutting my own uterus open 🤣🤣

TaylorsSwimShorts · 18/03/2022 20:41

7th btw...I'm obviously a sadist!

SickAndTiredAgain · 18/03/2022 20:47

You’ve reminded me I need to use my 7th (and thankfully final) thrush pessary tonight. Thrush which I got from my second course of antibiotics this pregnancy Sad
I’m 29 weeks so very similar to you, and thankfully my Braxton hicks aren’t too painful, but I’ve got horrible SPD and rolling over in bed is like being kicked in the pubic bone.
Plus I never got any second trimester “glow” in this or my pregnancy with DD. It’s all a lie!

EverydayIsPJday · 18/03/2022 20:48

@TaylorsSwimShorts Shock hats off to you!!

Pyri · 18/03/2022 20:49

God yes, I can’t wait for the baby to be here so I can stop being boring. Desperate for a drink too

ElbowsandArses · 18/03/2022 20:51

I hated being pregnant and don’t know anyone IRL who liked it or “bloomed”. I was pg twice to term, and swore never again. Wouldn’t have minded more babies but couldn’t have hacked another pregnancy. Worth it though.

picklesandrhyme · 18/03/2022 20:52

I found my people. Absolutely hating it third time around. Carpal tunnel, insomnia, HG. Bloody nightmare. Surrounded by people who sailed through theirs so I am always irrationally angry Grin

Ree87 · 18/03/2022 20:55

Right there with you... pregnancy number 2 and was vomiting very regularly and really suffering with my mental health until 20 weeks. Now we're in to acid reflux at 25 weeks.

DS is the most amazing little human and I'm so excited to meet this little one but it hasn't been easy especially with a toddler and very active, busy job.

Sending lots of live and best wishes to you for the rest of your pregnancy and delivery!

boymummys · 18/03/2022 20:56

This made me laugh, exactly how I am! Just managed to drag myself out the bath at nearly 37 weeks pregnant. Fun fact I actually managed to wash my hair and dry it tonight 😂😂😂 pregnancy is soooo hard!! Wouldn't think I've actually done it before! Feeling like a whale waddling around everywhere😩
Liliana07 · 18/03/2022 20:57

@picklesandrhyme you've just reminded I'm probably extra grouchy today as I've been awake since 4am unable to get back to sleep!!
@pyri the drink thing ... that's me!! Definitely never struggled as much as in this pregnancy!
It's also actually never occurred to me that the thrush could be linked to the antibiotics! I know the constipation is made worse by them for definite!!
Loving all the solidarity in this post!

Wholeheartedly agree.
I’ve had 3 babies and hated most of every pregnancy.
1st time I had HG and spent a load of time hospitalised or at home barely functioning through the tidal waves of vomit.
2nd time I was just exhausted the entire time as DC1 was only 8mo when I fell pregnant.
3rd time pretty much same sketch as 2nd pregnancy, except I spent majority of the pregnancy parenting DC1 and DC2 solo as my exH was in Afghanistan.
All good fun. Fun that you couldn’t pay me to do again Blush

Dreamworks · 18/03/2022 21:04

I've found my people!

I'm 34 weeks, had HG until week 18, had two weeks rest then SPD started and hasn't gone away. I've got pre eclampsia and I've had painful braxton hicks since week 30 weeks which I've been admitted for 3 times as they thought it was labour!

Liliana07 · 18/03/2022 21:10

@awkwardpaws27 that sounds horrific to be honest!! I hope you're OK 💐

OP posts:
ladygindiva · 18/03/2022 21:14

Not just you. I hated being pregnant the first time, I was sick every single day of the entire 42(!) weeks, I became huge and bloated and swollen and I had sciatica. I thought that was bad then my second pregnancy was twins. Fucking hell. All of the above plus my feet swelled up so much I had to wear man's shoes, I had severe anemia and beyond week 30 I couldn't walk further than a few yards without having a rest or wipe my own arse. Never ever again.

AwkwardPaws27 · 18/03/2022 21:16

Thank you - I'm OK now but the episode was pretty scary. I had blurred vision and numbness, tried to tell DH I wasn't feeling good and found I was unable to speak. It lasted about an hour but luckily hasn't reoccurred.

PrincessCaspian91 · 18/03/2022 21:42

It’s shit, worst thing I’ve ever gone through. Am just at10 weeks.

NameChangeCity123 · 18/03/2022 21:48

Sorry to hear you're having such a rough pregnancy. I was very lucky and absolutely loved mine. I felt great and was very lucky to have no sickness etc. I developed pre eclampsia and had to go to hospital check ups twice a week but still felt fine within myself. Hoping to have a second child and would love for that pregnancy to be the same although I appreciate it may be totally different second time around

showmethegin · 18/03/2022 21:50

I'm 28 weeks and it's a struggle! There seems to be this unspoken condition that women must glow and just be so over the moon, happy and bouncing about at what a magical time it is but the vast majority of women I know hated being pregnant!

Squiff70 · 18/03/2022 22:10

I'm so with you. I had severe sickness and nausea for the first 14 weeks. I'm now 17 weeks and thought I was over that but nope. My 2 year old decided a short car journey this nothing into town was the perfect time to have the stinkiest poo ever. DP had to change her nappy in the boot of the car in a multi-storey car park whilst my heaving and retching at the smell echoed round the car park. At one point I heaved so violently I wet myself.

Fucks sake. Where is this beautiful glow and glamour we're meant to have?!
