Hi everyone,

Me again. I've chickened out again :(
Decided this is the month to ttc and I'm fertile from tomorrow according to my app.

I'm so so scared of potentially being sick it's driving me nuts. Currently 2am and I'm lying here going out my mind.

I'm scared of being sick or feeling sick at work as I suffer from extreme anxiety at work as it is and I'm just worried I'm not mentally strong enough. I can cope with nausea at home.

In my head it is now or never due to my age and the fact that the potential for morning sickness is NEVER going to go away. I'm waiting for a miracle cure and the impossible for all morning sickness to not even exist anymore. Arghh.

I've bought all my vitamins (vitamin d, b6, folic acid) and have upped my magnesium intake through my diet in a way of attempting to build up my resilience to any morning sickness. Now I'm just staring at them waiting for the courage to do this.

Please can somebody give me a real good shake and talk some sense into me. I want this so so bad it's all I think about. I don't think conceiving is going to come particularly easily due to endometriosis which is also worrying me. Please please someone talk some sense into me to give me the courage to at least try :(

I appreciate this is a really moany post, I just don't know where to turn as I have nobody to speak to about this.

3 pregnancies, was never sick! I did have nausea though, second pregnancy was the worst for it but manageable and gone by 14 weeks.

Thank you again everyone. I'm so fed up of feeling so pathetic with this. I do desperately want a baby it's just this bloody phobia!!!!
I've heard a lot recently that the nausea is more like travel sickness feeling - is that right? I think I could just about cope with that.

I'm also definitely going to get anti sickness pills.

My morning sickness felt nothing like a normal sick feeling. When I was sick it was a matter of being sick and then that was it. I didn’t continue to feel unwell all day or anything. I was able to just get up and on with my day. Which kinda made it easier.
Not everyone is the same but honestly it wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be!

thechocolatefrog · 26/02/2022 22:20

@Hiddenvoice

I can't even begin to imagine physically being sick :( I haven't been sick for over 20 years, I wouldn't even know how!!

I'm hoping if I get anything it will just be mild nausea. Argh I'm so scared and can't get past this feeling that I'm a failure for this phobia. Sorry I'm really going off on one now. Im probably not even pregnant!!!

Hi I've just come across your post. I'm so sorry that you're struggling with this phobia. Please don't be so hard on yourself, you have a phobia, it is an extreme fear, please be kind to yourself and forgive yourself for being scared. You are not choosing to feel this way, it is just the way that your brain has learnt to cope with something that it mistakenly thinks will harm you. It is a very difficult phobia to treat. You have made a very brave choice to ttc. If you are lucky and conceive, you will be fine and when that baby is born you will be better than fine. There is a very good chance that you won't feel sick, but if you do, you can take antiemetics and you can also take sick leave from work, so there is no need to worry about feeling sick at work.
Take care of yourself, hopefully your therapist has given you lots of strategies that you can use to try to reduce the stress and distract yourself. You will be okay, you can do this.

@savemefromtheteens

Thank you so much for your lovely and kind message.
My therapist hasn't unfortunately given me many coping strategies at all but I have contacted for an emergency appointment.

I just feel like I've been so hasty, even though I've been plucking up the courage for years, and naive to this and I'm terrified that vomiting/feeling sick is imminent.

Thank you again

Second pregnancy here & I've never suffered from morning sickness, in fact I hardly had any symptoms at all.

@OooohAhhhh

Thank you, thank you - this is the exact thing I need to try and imagine instead of catastrophising!

@thechocolatefrog you do! I have friends & family who never suffered with sickness or many symptoms either.
A lot of people think sickness always comes with pregnancy but it doesn't.
