NIPT results - ultrasound Direct, How long?

Hi

Just wondered, for those that had a NIPT test through ultrasound direct, how long you waited for your results, had the test done last Monday evening and wondering when I'm likely to receive them, I know timescales are 7-10 days but wondered what others experiences were :)

We did ours in Aug 2020 and the results took 9 days.

Carebear99 · 14/02/2022 11:36

Depends which test provider they use.

I've had iona today and was told I should have the results by the end of the week.

Pizzaandsushi · 14/02/2022 11:49

I had the NIPT with ultrasound direct last September. My results took the full 10 working days (13 days in total). Although on day 7 they phoned to say unfortunately the first sample they took didn’t have enough fetal dna so my results would take a bit longer so they could test the second sample, which obviously couldn’t be helped but the wait was so difficult!

Thanks all, think I just need to be a bit more patient 🙈

I had the test done end of August and results back five days on the dot

Nikki037297 · 14/02/2022 16:05

I’m having mine done at 10 weeks with ultrasound direct. How many weeks were you? It’s mainly just to find out the gender I wish they would do it sooner if you just want to know the gender

annlee3817 · 14/02/2022 16:24

@Nikki037297 I was 10+4 but actually measured 11.1 on the scan, I know that they need a good amount of fetal dna to pick up Downs, Edwards etc, and less than ten weeks they won't be able to get this, so assume it's the same for the sex

That's why they scan to check how far along

Hi, I had the NIPT done on Saturday just gone at 10+5 with Ultrasound Direct. They said the lab would have received my bloods yesterday. I was really hoping I'd have results by this Friday but now I'm thinking next week. The wait is killing me! Checking my emails every 5 mins 🙃

annlee3817 · 15/02/2022 09:47

@WhatTheEll glad it's not just me constantly checking the emails, fingers crossed you hear back sooner

Carebear99 · 15/02/2022 10:15

I had my nipt yesterday, they said the results gave to be given by the healthcare provider eg. The Ultrasound clinic. Then they'll email me

Carebear99 · 15/02/2022 10:19

Results HAVE to be given I mean

annlee3817 · 15/02/2022 10:22

They've told me today 7 working days from the original appointment date, so hope to hear towards the end of the week, really hoping for tomorrow as that will be the 7th day 🤞

WhatTheEll · 16/02/2022 09:43

@annlee3817 hope you hear today!! I'm thinking next week now for me realistically.......😭

annlee3817 · 16/02/2022 09:52

Thanks @WhatTheEll the wait is dragging!! Lol

Carebear99 · 16/02/2022 09:54

I've been waiting only 2 days but the wait is killing me, had my test on Monday. Was told I'll hear hopefully by Friday but I'm panicking. I'm 39 and a high bmi, so I have a high risk already

WhatTheEll · 16/02/2022 10:20

@Carebear99 I get how you're feeling. I'm 35 but my DS has a rare chromosome disorder so I think that makes me more paranoid! Also my BMI could be lower....

Carebear99 · 16/02/2022 10:24

@WhatTheEll thinking of you and hope we both get the results to say we have a low risk

WhatTheEll · 16/02/2022 10:27

@Carebear99 you too! I've read a few past posts on here saying some people get inconclusive results.....that's my worst nightmare!

Carebear99 · 16/02/2022 10:30

I had the IONA which requires lower fetal fraction so I hope I don't get inconclusive results. I don't know how I'll wait another week or whatever it takes again.

Ivegottagoforaliedown · 16/02/2022 10:33

I had mine done on a Friday, the following Thursday I found out they couldn't find enough DNA in the first sample so were testing the second, I got the results the following Tuesday. Longest wait of my life!!

FabricPigeon · 16/02/2022 10:35

I had the Vision NIPT done via Ultrasound Direct before Christmas and it took nearly two weeks for the results to come back - I was starting to think they had lost the sample by the time they arrived! But that was at the height of Omicron so I don't know if the lab was having problems with people self-isolating etc.

WhatTheEll · 16/02/2022 11:28

@FabricPigeon yeah I had the same one done on Saturday just gone. Hoping it's not 2 weeks!!
@Carebear99 oh you should be fine then.
@Ivegottagoforaliedown They only took one big sample bottle so they better not eff it up 🤦🏻‍♀️

annlee3817 · 16/02/2022 11:41

I have no ideas how many samples they took as didn't look lol, it was the vision test though, they said they got a good draw
