Accupuncture to start labour? Help

IloveGod2 · 03/01/2022 21:17

Happy new yr all ☺️. Was wondering if anyone had some stories of having accupunture which led to contractions and led to successful natural birth?
Im being induced on 17.01 and was hoping for contractions to start naturally. I did read somewhere accupunture may help. Or did anything else help?? Thanks 👍

O yea tried sex but couldn't get a good position 😂. Did a few workouts from YouTube as well. If baby is ready I guess she will make her appearance

@IloveGod2 there's quite a lot of waiting about involved isn't there

Chanel05 · 17/01/2022 17:14

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 I had read that clary sage can make you at higher risk of haemorrhage. I used quite a bit and I ended up having a 2.5L major haemorrhage.

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 17/01/2022 17:23

@Chanel05 omg that sounds terrible, I'm so sorry. I have it in my hospital bag but might not use it then

To update I'm still being monitored pre-pessary and I'm having regular contractions according to the trace. Have been feeling intermittent period like pains for a day or two now, so maybe the acupuncture did help given I'm only 37 and a half weeks.

Sarahdaydreamer1234 · 17/01/2022 17:56

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 that's what I've been having since accupuncture too just light period pains for days, did they say that you are in early labour? Hopefully that will help you overall! Good luck!

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 17/01/2022 19:04

@Sarahdaydreamer1234 yes like that - not constant, kind of intermittent. They said these are contractions and could I not feel them. Watching the trace I could see it spiking whenever I got them, and baby's heart rate increasing also. About every two mins.

So I'm thinking it has done something maybe 🤷‍♀️ esp if you've got them also

Sarahdaydreamer1234 · 17/01/2022 19:10

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 did they say you were dialated at all? That's good to know they are contractions hoepfully they've actually been doing soemthing!

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 17/01/2022 22:21

@Sarahdaydreamer1234 they didn't say, just popped the pessary straight in. So I'm assuming not

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 18/01/2022 10:18

@Sarahdaydreamer1234 well the Dr came around this morning and so I asked them what my cervix was like - apparently starting pretty close to zero ! Contractions can go on for days before anything changes. Having said that my pessary has been in for a pretty long while and that hasn't done anything either

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 18/01/2022 20:28

Well to update, having been told there was practically zero chance the pessary would work on a not at all ready cervix and given I'm not even 38 weeks yet, they took the pessary out and were shocked that I've dilated enough to break my waters. I'm waiting for a spot on the labour ward. But maybe it was the acupuncture, the dates, who knows

IloveGod2 · 18/01/2022 21:08

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 how's it going with you. Just had second gel. Cervix is slightly opening. Still a waiting game 😄

@IloveGod2 how're you feeling? I've contractions every 4 mins and they're starting to hurt a lot more. Had the gel while I wait for a spot on the labour ward, in case I go backwards overnight. Still manageable but feeling a bit more painful

IloveGod2 · 20/01/2022 03:32

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 Hiya hope your ok. Cervix is softening and doc was able to out her finger to carry out a sweep. I will be examined later. Cos of my last c sec was only allowed 2 gel. The pessary is much stronger but shame I can't have so as to not rapture my previous c sec internal scan

@IloveGod2 how're you feeling?

I'm fed up now, been waiting for a spot on the labour ward since Tuesday but they're so busy. So I've just been waiting around. I'm hoping my cervix hasn't closed back up as I haven't had anything given since that gel on Tuesday

IloveGod2 · 20/01/2022 08:57

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 in pain lol, doctors are trying to break my water. Baby is head down, very low but cervix is still far back which sucks. May have to resort in c-sec at this rate cos I have GD as well.

OP posts:
A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 20/01/2022 11:08

@IloveGod2 oh snap I'm being induced for GD also. Sorry you're in pain, glad you've got a spot to try the waters.

I'm at the point where I'm really fed up now. Have been here for four days and have only been allowed prostaglandins on the first day

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 21/01/2022 11:17

Had my little one early hours of this morning. I had a back to back labour (didn't know til his head came out). It was painful but the midwives were shocked at how quickly it progressed (3cm dilated to 10cm dilated in under three hours) and no tears or damage.

I'm thinking the acupuncture did help slightly

IloveGod2 · 22/01/2022 07:37

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 congrats Hun. Had baby on thursday morning..they couldn't break water as cervix was still hard reach so.went with c-sec. Kind of glad they did as there was dead tissueesnfrom the last operation and that would have caused a lot more issues down the line. Are you looking at having anymore kids, I'm not loool. Yea Ur labour was fast indeed. Reminds me of it happening to one woman next tommen
The recovery is not as painful as with my 2nd child, was able to stand up and move around.alot.sooner. maybe the accupunture will/has helped with the recovery, who knows.

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 22/01/2022 07:54

@IloveGod2 congratulations!! Think a c section sounds best esp as they couldn't break your waters etc and you've scar tissue. The drip wasn't super easy on my body.

Hmm well this is my first so we'll have to see how if goes with him I guess!

I'm glad your recovery is okay! It's tough to say if it helped or not isn't it! Even the medical induction process isn't guaranteed to get everyone into labour.

IloveGod2 · 22/01/2022 10:02

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 yea so hard to know for sure but praise God our delivery went well. Still waiting to be discharged, when do u go home
