Winter maternity coat advice

Hi everyone,

I’m due end of March with DC2 and am wondering what to do about a coat.

Was going to buy a maternity coat I can’t seem to find any that are warm and waterproof and I’m going to be doing the nursery run & standing around in the playground with DC1. What’s everyone else doing for coats?

I was thinking of getting a second hand warm waterproof one a couple of sizes bigger but will that just look ridiculous?

Size 8 and due early March. I bought a new look one which was 20% off so £42 I think.

I have the Asda one too and it’s great! I wouldn’t say it was waterproof but it’s definitely shower proof.

Vinted is also great for second hand maternity clothes!

If you already have a good winter coat then just get one of the zip-in panels. I think that's a much better option. I'd rather wear one of my good quality coats than buy a whole cheapie new one.

Charity shop is your best bet, get a waterproof one as you'll need a larger size afterwards too for a while. Layer up for warmth. 3-4 sizes up will be fine eg get a 16 if you are normally 10. You can always wear open with a thick scarf for the last 3-4 weeks

I been heavily pregnant in winter with two pregnancies. I never bought a maternity coat, just wore my normal one undone as I was always so hot when pregnant.

I got a warm waterproof parka thing from H&M mama range. It was half price, £35 and I bloody love it. Wearing it again for my second pregnancy and I love it so bloody much I'd pay full price for just one seasons wear. You can always eBay it after to get a bit back.

This is the Asda one I got last year they still do it. Lovey and warm, and kept me dry.

I'd 100% get this - sooo toasty and dry, best £30 you'll spend!!

I just ordered the Asda one.

Didn't have a maternity coat in my first pregnancy, but I didn't go out a lot in the last few weeks. Guess it'll be different now with nursery runs and spending too much time on the playground.

I’ve rented my Maternity coat from a company called belles and babes for £40. I would highly recommend! I just received mine and it is a Mamalicious coat worth £140 new. The company let you keep it until next spring and will send a bag for you to post it back then. I’m due end of January so definitely need it now but no way would I want to spend on a coat I won’t use next year.

After you place your order they contact you with a catalogue of coats to pick from. All really good ones. The lady who emailed me gave me some great advice and I picked one from that.

@sociallydistained that’s a great idea, thank you! Any tips on choosing.

I feel like I chose the best one in my size. The mamalicious tikka. Has the extra bit for baby wearing which id like to do.

Koalaslippers · 23/10/2021 19:57

I think it's this one but was 3 years ago now.
