How big was your baby and your bump?

Just for fun! I’m 23 weeks and still really small, can only see my rounded belly if I wear a fitted top or no top!

However a friend of mine is pregnant (3rd baby I should mention) and has just hit the 12 week mark and is showing a tiny bit already! Her previous babies were both 10lb so she does have big babies.

I’m just curious - did you have a little bump and little baby? Or little bump big baby? And vice versa!

Fully aware my bump will grow in these next 17 weeks and I might balloon in that time! But as of right now I’ve been carrying really small and not gained weight elsewhere either. It’s funny when I mention I’m pregnant, if I’m not wearing something fitted people don’t believe I’m over half way done with my pregnancy!

And to add this is my first baby :)

Just wondering what everyone’s bumps compared to babies were like!

My bump was tiny and so was my baby 5lb 3oz.

Peachee · 02/09/2021 20:15

I had my son at 38+4 and felt massive.. decent sized bump.. he was tiny - 5lb 10oz
I have another tiddler again - 34 weeks - weighing 4.5lb according to growth scans (likely to be inaccurate) and I feel mahoosive again! Literally have to pick my bump up to roll over in the night.
We’re all different though ! X

You always show earlier with subsequent pregnancies as your stomach region including uterus has already.. contorted?... once before (polite way of saying have been stretched beyond your wildest imagination)
My bumps were always pretty small and I had smaller than average babies, and minimal weight gain, but I also suffered from hyperemesis gravidarum throughout as well so have no doubt that impacted my size, as it caused me to lose weight with each pregnancy

Runrigdan · 02/09/2021 20:17

My bump was quite small but my baby was not! She was 8lb 1oz. She must have been very squashed in there.

Rainbowroadx · 02/09/2021 21:18

Mahoosive bump and equally mahoosive babies both times. DS1 9lb 6oz, 2 weeks overdue and DS2 10lb 8oz, 2 weeks early.

Currently 11 weeks pregnant with number 3 and already wondering if they'll be bigger than the last. No gestational diabetes or anything to contribute to the size, I just grow them big apparently Grin

WantStickyBean · 02/09/2021 22:43

My bump was huge with DD, top percentile all the way through and she turned out to be a very long and thin 7lb.

heywhatswrongwitu · 02/09/2021 22:44

Big bump small baby!

careerchangeperhaps · 02/09/2021 22:45

Baby was 7lb 12oz (at T+13).
I was still wearing my normal non-maternity jeans at 34 weeks. I'm not a skinny minnie nor do I have good stomach muscles (usually size 12 & unfit). No idea where she was hiding 😂

heywhatswrongwitu · 02/09/2021 22:45

As in, that's what I had with my first

TokyoSushi · 02/09/2021 22:46

Absolutely massive almost comedy bump, 8lb 2, but oh when those waters went!

MakkaPakkas · 02/09/2021 22:48

DC1 middling bump, baby was 9lb1
DC2 whale- like enormity, baby was 9lb1

Megan2018 · 02/09/2021 22:51

I had a large round high bump but no weight gain anywhere else, baby 6lb 10.

ExecutiveHodCarrier · 02/09/2021 22:54

Massive both times. I’m usually about 10 stone and I put on 4.5 stone with each baby Shock lots of water weight and big babies (first was 9 pound 2oz, second was 8 pounds)

With the second she was long and low like a tube - I looked like Mr Greedy for a fortnight before I gave birth

anniee8ava · 02/09/2021 22:59

1st dd still wearing size 6 jeans through out preg, normal size bump, 8lb baby 2 weeks late.

2nd dd i ballooned everwhere 😭bunp was bigger and she was 8lb 4 oz 4 days early

Currently 35 weeks with DS, belly is huge and hes measuring big so im sure he will be my biggest.

Beowoulf · 02/09/2021 23:04

Massive bump with both DC, they were both average size, weighing a little under 8lbs

Wowcherarestalkingme · 02/09/2021 23:09

Huge bumps both times, sent for growth scans because I was so big. DS1 was 6lb 4 (37 weeks) and DS2 was 3lb15 (32 weeks). I had excess water with my second but i constantly got the ‘are you sure it’s just one in there’ comments

loafcake · 02/09/2021 23:11

Mine was huge, I'm tall and long so I think it just felt massive because of my frame. But then I had a big 8lb1 baby to go with it!
I'm 13 weeks now with the second baby and I'm already showing so god knows how big I'll be this time 😂😂

Hunkydory99 · 02/09/2021 23:15

Massive bump and bum but ate like a pig. Baby was 9lb 2. Pregnant again with low Papp-a and been warned about a smaller baby. Most recent scan 42nd centile so not far off average and these believe can be out by 25% so I think I’m having another big baby

Strokethefurrywall · 02/09/2021 23:17

DS1 - Small bump, didn’t go into maternity wear until 28 weeks or so, small baby (6lb 5oz, 46cm)

DS2 - slightly bigger bump, went into maternity wear at 16 weeks because they were so fucking comfy, smaller baby (6lb, 46cm).

The body does remember that it’s “done it before” with subsequent pregnancies, so bumps seem to appear earlier as the muscles relax quicker.

LouNatics · 02/09/2021 23:20

Small bumps, late blooming. None at all until 28-29 weeks when you could start to tell if I was unclothed and you knew where to look. It took until 36-37 weeks before strangers could tell and even then I could hide it with a well placed cardigan if I needed to (managed fine without needing any maternity wear). I was sent for a growth scan with DC1 as they were concerned about small size, baby measured small but not outside of normal range.

All my DC have been totally boringly average sizes in the end between 7.10 and 8.12 but certainly not worryingly small.

Good luck op.

noblegreenk · 02/09/2021 23:27

My bump was enormous and my baby was 6lb 5oz, but I did have polyhydraminos. Every single person I met assumed it was twins! I was a size 10 when I got pregnant and I started showing very early. I was in maternity jeans at 9 weeks.

Workinghardeveryday · 02/09/2021 23:28

@WinterBabyBabyx
The bump will grow believe me! Lots of people don’t even start showing until now.
My first pregnancy I was big and showed very quickly, she was 8lb which is big for me as I am very small.
Second pregnancy was twins, 6.3lb and 5.9lb and two placentas and I gained the same weight and bump similar size

summertime202 · 02/09/2021 23:30

Small bump always measured small - 10lbs4 baby 😂 everyone was asking where I was hiding her 😂

Oliveandsage · 02/09/2021 23:31

First baby, I was absolutely huge and she was 8lb 15oz. Second baby, I was showing at 10 weeks but a very neat little bump - they were 9lb at 38 weeks!
