How big was your baby and your bump?

Just for fun! I’m 23 weeks and still really small, can only see my rounded belly if I wear a fitted top or no top!

However a friend of mine is pregnant (3rd baby I should mention) and has just hit the 12 week mark and is showing a tiny bit already! Her previous babies were both 10lb so she does have big babies.

I’m just curious - did you have a little bump and little baby? Or little bump big baby? And vice versa!

Fully aware my bump will grow in these next 17 weeks and I might balloon in that time! But as of right now I’ve been carrying really small and not gained weight elsewhere either. It’s funny when I mention I’m pregnant, if I’m not wearing something fitted people don’t believe I’m over half way done with my pregnancy!

Had ds at 39 weeks, felt huge but wasn't when I look back at pictures. He was 6lb 7

With Dd I was huge from 18 weeks. She was 11lb 4 and was born at 38 weeks.

Mammyloveswine · 03/09/2021 00:30

Ds1 was 8 pound 4.5... I had a small bump and had growth scans from 30 weeks as was measuring small apparently.. he was just ticked up underneath my ribs 🙈

Ds2 was a pound smaller (I carried both to the same gestation).. still a small bump but bo growth scans this time.

I started showing around 30 weeks with both properly, had roundness around 25 weeks.

Tiny bumps with both of mine - 17 years apart!
Put 12lbs on both times , never needed maternity clothes

Babies were 8lb 5 and 7lb 14

SleepingStandingUp · 03/09/2021 00:33

Huge belly, 5lb 6 baby, a swimming pools worth of fluid for no 1.

Even more huge belly, twins of 6lb 12 and 6lb 13.

I loved my big tummies

Nat6999 · 03/09/2021 00:47

I was still wearing regular clothes at 18 weeks, I could still fit in normal jeans that were one size bigger than my usual ones, the only maternity trousers I had then were some smart black trousers. Two weeks later I kind of exploded & I had to buy everything in maternity but I didn't really have a big bump until 34 weeks, ds was back to back so maybe he tucked himself in. By 36 weeks my bump dropped really low.

Nat6999 · 03/09/2021 00:48

Ds was 6lb 4oz when he was born at 36+5.

Justilou1 · 03/09/2021 02:56

I was showing at 7 weeks with both of my pregnancies. Tbf, I’m 5ft tall AND have a very short torso, so there’s nowhere to go but out, plus I’m pretty petite and had HG, so pretty sure I lost weight at the beginning. Despite this, my bumps were enormous - I had people saying “Not long now!” at 20wks with the second pregnancy, which was twins. I managed to get to 39wks, and hadn’t seen my feet in months.

user1471481356 · 03/09/2021 02:58

First baby, basically no bump, no one knew I was pregnant - 3.3kgs. Second baby, basically no bump, no one at work knew I was pregnant until the day I left for maternity leave when I told them, could sort of tell when I was 40-42weeks - 4kg baby

WinterBabyBabyx · 03/09/2021 09:29

All of these response are so interesting thank you!

To add, I suffered with HORRENDOUS morning sickness up until 18 weeks so that a big factor as to why I haven’t gained too much weight.

I can’t wait to be a bit more noticeably pregnant! I do feel I’ll have a normal sized baby, me and DH were born at least 9lb and were both average weight and slightly on tall scale! Not worried about a tiny baby just to clarify, was more curious as when I fell pregnant I assumed I’d ‘balloon’ as I gain weight soooo easily!

Even though I’m early on I’ve had so many “where is that baby hiding comments” , think those comments will start lessening soon!

I'm pregnant with my first, I had no noticeable bump, even though baby was measuring big on scans, up until about 24 weeks and ever since then I've been ballooning in size 🤣 30 weeks now, on my growth charts I've been completely on the middle curve, not even slightly on the bigger side of the graph. So I guess I'm a normal size, it all just happened so quickly!

Ellarain · 03/09/2021 10:36

Big bumps and 3 bigggg babies.

10lbs 14
10lbs 7
11lbs 8

All sections and last one was 8 days early!!!

MintyGreenDream · 03/09/2021 10:51

I resembled a medium sized whale from about 6 months.Started showing at around 9 weeks.Ds was 8lb 10

Babyiskickingmyribs · 03/09/2021 10:58

Totally unremarkable sized bump, 9lbs5 baby. He was late though. The midwives asked where I’d been hiding such a giant. He looks enormous next to me in the photos we took in hospital.
Random people on the street have no idea what a big bump or small bump looks like. People were asking if I was full term at 6months and when I asked my midwife if I was especially big she said no, very average.

letsmakethishappen · 03/09/2021 11:16

Am 23 weeks and my bump is huge.Am very slim though maybe that’s why. Very noticeable but normal at almost 6 months. I was the same with first. Baby weighed 7’13

Samanabanana · 03/09/2021 11:18

First time round, huge bump, 9lb baby, second time round slightly smaller bump but baby is anticipated to be a similar size! We will find out in a few weeks Grin

In both pregnancies I had a visible bump by 12 weeks.

ReallyRatherBlonde · 03/09/2021 11:31

Comically huge bump (looked overdue at 7 months), put on 5 stone, loads and loads of water and a 9lb 7oz baby

LaBelleSauvage123 · 03/09/2021 11:38

Small bump, small babies ( both early though) - 6.5 and 6.13. But I am tall and always thought that everything spread out more as a result. Only put on 1.5 stone with each of them - which is a bit galling considering I'm now a stone heavier than that!

twoofusburningmatches · 03/09/2021 11:47

I was wearing my normal size 8 clothes at 23 weeks and it would have been pretty much impossible to tell I was pregnant. By 33 weeks colleagues had started to notice I was pregnant. Bump measured average all through pregnancy but I am tall so the bump wasn’t particular noticeable as I had a longer torso to fit the baby in. Baby was more than 8lb when born, so a decent sized baby.

This time round I started wearing maternity jeans around 23 weeks. Bump is much bigger and is measuring larger than average. But people still say I have a small bump.

sunshineandshowers21 · 03/09/2021 11:48

i had big bumps and small babies. my heaviest was 6lb 6oz, my smallest 4lb 4oz. during my pregnancies people were always saying i’d have a big baby but that never happened. my sister on the other hand had a tiny bump and a 10lb baby!

Catherine1210 · 03/09/2021 21:22

First baby 7lb8 born at 39+4, I didn’t look pregnant until the last 6 weeks, I had a baby shower at 31 weeks with no bump! Pregnant again after only 5 months gap, 24 weeks now and showing a bit, probably more bloated looking but nowhere near as much as I thought I’d pop with 2nd pregnancy so soon after belly has been stretched! I guess some people just carry small, I’m not worried. X

Chocarocker · 03/09/2021 21:26

Huge bump, big baby (10lb2oz) and also polyhydramnios.

Roonilwazlib1 · 03/09/2021 21:31

I'm half way through my pregnancy now and dont have much of a bump at all but I'm a size 16 so can only assume that I have enough bulk to hide the baby in there!

I'm still in my pre pregnancy jeans and weigh the same amount to the lb as I did when I found out I was pregnant.

Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 03/09/2021 21:39

Tiny bump. Had so many growth scans due to it not growing and I was having to convince people I actually was pregnant just a week before my due date. DS came out bang on 50th centile. I have a long torso so I think he went up rather than out and I was extremely fit before getting pregnant so had stomach muscles of steel.

If I am fortunate enough to have a second I am hoping for a bigger bump as stomach muscles now non existent Grin

MeadowHay · 03/09/2021 21:43

My bump looked tiny in my first pregnancy, I went on holiday at about 28 weeks pregnant and lots of people still couldn't tell I was pregnant then if I was wearing layers. However my midwife was measuring my fundal height ahead as if the baby was going to massive Confused. In the end she was born on her due date and wasn't big or small, a respectable 6 lb 14. This time around my bump is much bigger and I've put on more weight generally too, but this midwife has been measuring my fundal height as tiny Confused. I have had two growth scans as a result and this baby is estimated to be a very similar size to my DD but very slightly bigger. So we will see.

idontknow54789 · 03/09/2021 21:46

Huge with both of mine and I'm a small person. I must just carry all at the front but I was very noticeably pregnant by about 14 weeks and people thought I was carrying twins when I was anything over 30 weeks. I'm always really jealous of people that carry smaller but I know that all comes with other problems (more bladder and rib kicks I'd imagine).
