Early reassurance scan nerves

Hi,

I had missed miscarriage at 9 weeks in March. I have since conceived again and have booked an early reassurance scan (after a hard think about it for a week).

I wanted the scan a little over 9 weeks but all they could offer me was the day I turned exactly 9 weeks on so I took it. It’s in 3 weeks and I am absolutely a bag of nerves. I don’t think I can cope with the same news of another missed miscarriage. I am 6w1d and have suffered no painful cramps or bleeding/spotting.

Any positive stories or any advice to calm my nerves?

Thank you!

I don't have a positive story but pretty much in the same boat, so I'm here for the solidarity! 2 mmc's currently 6+6 and have a scan booked for 8+6. Time is literally slowing down. Fingers crossed everything turns out OK for you!

Sending you positive vibes. I had an ectopic pregnancy back in April and we've conceived again. I'm 5 weeks pregnant now and have my early reassurance scan booked for just over 2 weeks time. I'm the same as you - absolute ball of anxiety. I'm looking forward to the scan but I'm dreading it as well as I'm so frightened they'll tell me something is wrong ☹️

@GoodVibesOnlyPlease @Harlequin1088

You are not alone, I am also in the same boat. I have had 2 miscarriages this year and I have an early reassurance scan booked on Wednesday, I will be 7 weeks +2.

Im terrified as well.

CT96 · 20/08/2021 14:45

Best of luck to you all and hoping we have sticky rainbows 🌈💗

@CT96 sending you so many positive thoughts and good wishes. My first pregnancy , I had a MMC at 12 weeks . My second preg I was terrified of being given the same news. I had an early scan at 10 weeks , and I was so anxious I thought I was going to pass out. Baby was just fine. Saw her dancing away on the screen, it was the most amazing moment.

That baby is now 2 and climbing on top of me as we speak . I am currently 26 weeks preg with no 2.

Just because you had a MMC there’s no reason to think it will happen again. The overwhelming odds are in your favour that everything will be just fine ❤️. Wishing you all the best Flowers

numberthirtytwoWindsorGardens · 20/08/2021 15:32

I had an MMC earlier this year (like yours, discovered at a scan). I'm now 20 weeks pregnant and, fingers crossed, all looks well. I absolutely know how you're feeling and to be honest, I've been very anxious throughout the whole pregnancy, but one miscarriage is no reason to believe it will happen again. I will have my fingers crossed for you - wishing you very good news! Flowers

Waterb0ttle · 20/08/2021 16:22

Totally same boat as you, I had a mmc at 7 weeks back in January and conceived again in July, I've booked my early scan for the 28th August and I'm petrified to go. I should be 8+4 when I go for my early scan. I'm just trying to tell myself what will be will be 😢 but that's not good enough....

Wishing you the best of luck all of you, and hoping ours pregnancies are safe and healthy 🤞🤞

I’ve just wrote a similar thread!

I’ve got a reassurance scan booked next week and I’m absolutely dreading it after a MMC last year. I’ve had no sickness with this pregnancy I’m approx 7 weeks, and I had it so bad with my 2 DS but not with MMC so I’m just so scared it’s a bad sign. I do have other symptoms just not the throwing my guts up.

Anyone else had similar? What was outcome.

Best of luck of love to all you ladies.

CT96 · 20/08/2021 18:23

That is exactly what I’m telling myself, that I have no control over what happens. But it still doesn’t help me calm my nerves. I only booked the scan to know I will feel better if there is a heart beat. Other than that I am not bothered for scans this pregnancy. I can’t bear any bad news again!

@XBek1989 I haven’t got many symptoms. Waves of nausea but not everyday and sore boobs and nipples. Sleeping rubbish at night.

I didn’t feel nauseas last time only when I needed food. Just hate the anxiety

Waterb0ttle · 20/08/2021 20:41

I know if everything is alright, I'll only panic the week leading to the 12 weeks and the week leading to the 20 week scan etc.... I don't think I'll be happy until baby is in my arms, but I honestly think that's normal for people in general and more so for people who have had a loss.

As far as symptoms go, I have metal taste in mouth, sore breast, occasional nausea especially after eating, constant headache, all of which I had with the last pregnancy, but they say every pregnancy is different try and keep you thoughts happy

XBek1989 · 21/08/2021 02:02

@CT96 yeah I’m really struggling with my sleep too but think the anxiety is big part of that too!

Hope the next three weeks fly for you for your reassurance scan, mines Thursday.

GoodVibesOnlyPlease · 28/08/2021 09:00

How is everyone doing on here? Has anyone had their scans yet? I've been as sick as a dog this week but still absolutely freaking out. I wear a fitbit and my rhr has dropped right back down making me ridiculously paranoid 😫 just wondered if anyone was around to have a whinge 🙏

Bizawit · 28/08/2021 09:20

@GoodVibesOnlyPlease aw don’t worry at all about the Fitbit, that’s 100% normal. Heart rate always shoots up just before BFP and then drops right down again a week or so later. It may start to climb a bit again in the second trimester. I’ve just started my third trimester and it’s only over the last week or so that my RHR is as high as it was the day I got my BFP!
Sickness is a great sign btw- but poor you cos it’s awful!!
Sending hugs and positive thoughts.

CT96 · 28/08/2021 09:24

@GoodVibesOnlyPlease

My RHR has dropped to!! I freaked out so I’ve taken it off. It’s gone from 73 to 66 within 2 days and I do not like that.

I felt sick for a few days but didn’t actually vomit and for 2 days I’ve not had nausea now so now I’m worried again.. my boobs are still sore though. My GP has booked me an early scan for Tuesday because I’m so panicked but to be honest I don’t think I can do it. I may cancel it.

Hope you’re ok!

@Bizawit I scrolled right back through my data to see what happened when I was pregnant with my little boy 🤦‍♀️ @CT96 I'm tempted to take mine off!! I just keep trying to remind myself that there's more chance of things being OK than not but it's so hard to believe 😢 I've got an early scan next Friday, I'm just convinced they're going to tell me there's no heartbeat again 🤦‍♀️ thanks for the replies, feel like I just sound like an absolute nutter to anyone in real life.

CT96 · 28/08/2021 09:52

@GoodVibesOnlyPlease

I genuinely feel the same as you! All I’ve ever known when it comes to scans is there being no heart beat so I really feel like it’s going to be the same this time. I hope I’m proved wrong. I don’t want to go at all I feel sick at the thought of it.

GoodVibesOnlyPlease · 28/08/2021 10:04

@CT96 I really hope it's good news for you 🤞 this week is going to be a struggle 🤦‍♀️ let me know how it goes if you go through with it.

Aww bless you. Was it not the same pattern? Please don’t worry about the Fitbit , honestly it’s totally normal, your body has just got used to pumping the extra blood. Imagine if our heart rates just continued to climb exponentially the whole preg- it wouldn’t be sustainable. Take it off thought if it’s upsetting you. I had to do that for my first pregnancy, after my miscarriage. HR went right down and I just got so upset I took it off. This time I wasn’t so worried as knew it was normal.

I know exactly how you feel worrying about the same news. But you’ve got this 💪🏻💪🏻. Just because you had one MMC doesn’t mean it will happen again. Overwhelming odds are in your favour. And the good news is once you do see that heartbeat the chances of miscarrying massive reduce. Hang in there, not too long to go! 💓

(And be encouraged by the sickness. When I had my MMC my nausea totally disappeared just like that, practically over night), X

CMcA21 · 28/08/2021 10:55

Hi, can I please join the thread please?

I had a mmc in March at 9 weeks, baby stopped growing at 6. Had really strong symptoms so had no idea and was really shocked.

Found out I was pregnant again and I’m 6 weeks today. Have got a scan at my EPU Tuesday because I’ve been spotting this week and I rang them worried and convinced I’ve miscarried again. Feel like I’m going crazy. Symptoms coming and going too which isn’t helping the anxiety :(.

Just looking for a bit of company on this journey I suppose… I have no previous children and am starting to worry it won’t happen for me :(

XBek1989 · 28/08/2021 13:59

@GoodVibesOnlyPlease hey! I’ve had my scan on Thursday and it went great was week further than I thought too got to see heartbeat etc! So reassured now as was worrying like crazy with lack of sickness!

Hope yours goes well x
