Hey Ladies

Always happy to see loads of BFP’s!

Just thought this thread may help us lot who are TTC.

Basically what I am trying to ask is, the month you got your BFP, what did you do/not do? I.e. did you use OPK, and if so did you only DTD on static smileys or did you DTD everyday on flashing and static? Did you not get a static at all that cycle, only flashing and still got a BFP? Did you not use an OPK at all and went by CM/EWCM? Did you only do it once that month but were lucky to catch that egg? Anyway you get my drift 😂

Any stories I’m sure would help!

I DTD every day on flashing and static smilies (except the last day of flashing smiley which was day 4). I didn't have any EWCM and my temp wasnt playing ball either but it was obviously happening from the ovulation tests!

I didn’t use anything electronic or otherwise, just kinda wrote down date of my period so I could calculate when it would be due again.

I would have become a bit obsessed and very anxious if I muddied the waters with stuff.
But, whatever works for you to get you through.

Used ovulation kit, tracked period, had sex everyday during that 1 week and it worked. Every other day is good too. You just need one sperm.

DTD once during fertile window. After trying for 10 years with 2 losses I had pretty much given up hope I think. I had been a little obsessed in the past with tracking so decided to step away from it & I'm now 18 weeks!

Probably not what you want to hear but I had gotten kind of obsessed with OPKs, BBT and charting....and the month it happened for me was the first month I stopped doing all of those things!

(I had gotten on a list for an appointment with a fertility specialist and allowed myself to temporarily stop obsessing as it was now going to be in professional hands.... well I never made it to the specialist Smile)

SMEP, tracked basal body temperature, used easy at home OPKs and preseed, and we both took preconception multivitamins for a few months before.
I had a fancy basal body thermometer the second time but I found it was actually easier to track BBT with a regular digital one because the post-ovulation increase was more apparent. With the fancy one it was such a small increase I wasn't sure if i had actually ovulated until I got the BFP

I also had a referral for fertility testing when I got my BFP. I'd been to see my gp for another gynae issue when I broke down & all my worries about never having a baby spilled out. My doctor was lovely & referred me straight away. I phoned the gp surgery to let them know I was pregnant & the doctor later sent me a lovely message congratulating me.

Cheapo OPKs. Sex every other day from end of period, then I think twice in a row with a positive OPK. Pre-seed as lube

For me both times it was in months when I didn’t drink at all, ate well, exercised a lot etc. Also both times I was generally happy and relaxed. Could just be coincidences though!

I tried for nearly a year with DC1 - I tracked my BBT, used OPKs and Preseed, tried SMEP… everything. I drove myself crazy.

With DC2, I forced myself to give it 3 months of ‘just’ having regular sex around the middle of my cycle before I got into it properly again. I got my BFP on the second month.

DC3 was unplanned and the (happy!) result of getting drunk on our wedding anniversary and having sex once that month.

I know it’s just anecdotal, and I know it’s also frustrating to hear if you’ve been trying a well, but assuming you have no reason to believe anything is especially ‘wrong’ eg anovulatory cycles, I really would just stick to having regular sex throughout your cycle (and by that I would do every other day and perhaps every day around the middle, assuming that’s when you usually ovulate)

Seeing ones like “only did it once” definitly just goes to show you and give you hope if you think you didn’t DTD enough this month…

Also you guys doing it every other day from the date of your last period … how do you find the energy 🤣! Go you!!!!!

Both times I had a lot of wine and just relaxed Blush.
Dtd every couple of days around ovulation time, no tracking as I used to get ewcm and ovulation pains.

Temping and OPKs, preseed and what seemed to make the difference for me was cyclogest pessaries (progesterone) but got these from a clinic

I used OPK (cheapies and Clearblue Advanced Digital) and temping (Ava bracelet), cervical mucous monitoring, and logged everything in 3 different apps (Ava, Fertility Friend, and Femometer).

I usually ovulated a bit later in my cycle so started having sex CD11 (1 week after period finished). Ended up having sex O-7, O-5, O-3, O-2, O, O+2. Got solid smiley O-2 and positive cheapie O-1 (ovulation date predicted according to temps/apps).

Partner’s sex drive isn’t high so went with mostly EOD - learned from previous months that if we do it every day, by the end of fertile week he couldn’t have sex at all and we missed fertile days.

Used Conceive Plus lube and stayed on my back for at least 3 hours. Held legs up sometimes for 5-10 minutes.

Both taking conception vitamins. I made sure to exercise, eat lots of vegetables, but actually the month I conceived my weight was slightly higher than usual (5’5” and usually 8st2 and was more like 8st6)

It was also the first full cycle after 100% stopping breastfeeding my toddler.

I am 40 and it took me 5 cycles. Had a chemical cycle 2. Got my BFP on 9 DPO (probably would have got one 8 DPO but I held off testing for the first time that month).

Sorry for all the detail but I loved reading things like this when I was trying! I clearly went overboard with the apps but I was so worried about my age - it worked!

I cut down on junk food, ate a load of lentil soup and had sex a few days before my ovulation date rather than the day of!! (Worked with both of mine - I assume there was sperms there ready for as soon as the egg was released)

Oh! Forgot to say had only 2 days of flashing before solid smiley, which was unusual! They were on O-4/O-3. Had already started having sex before that though.

Gave up. Accepted I would never happen. Had lots of sex, at least three times a week every week for six weeks. Got shit faced a lot. This was after nine months of trying and three months of no periods.

Got my BFP after a particularly bad hangover that lasted all weekend. Turned out it was morning sickness.

With DS2, I expected another long wait. We were on holiday, so had lots of sex for the fortnight we were away. Then had BFP two weeks later.

Things I did differently that month to the others were:

  1. did the sperm meets egg method
  2. Used pre-seed (had used it the month before too but don’t think I’d used enough til that month)
  3. stopped going for baths! I actually think this is the main one that helped. I used to have a bath every night and the month I had showers instead during ovulation and the two week wait it worked!

Things I did anyway that I’d done the month before:

  1. put my legs up some of the time but pretty sure I didn’t on the time it actually worked
  2. used cheap opks and the premom app and also used clearblue ones too
  3. wore fluffy socks to keep my feet warm in the two week wait

Had also switched from the seven seas vitamins to the pregnacare before conception ones, not sure if that made any difference. Only swapped because the first ones didn’t make me feel good at all

Stopped trying, got drunk, felt super horny and dtd. We only did it once that month and now 14 weeks 😊
