My son was born 8lb 9oz. Second time round now 24 weeks, im having a girl and alot of people have said about 2nd baby is usually bigger. Just wondering what weight your 2nd babies have been? Also thinking maybe cause its a girl she'll be smaller but I dont think it matters much! Defo dont want a big 9lb'er coming out 🙈 lol

My second was smaller. First 8lb 15oz girl, second 8lb 8oz boy. Both overdue but second by 4 days less than his sister.

Shelby30 · 16/01/2021 12:06

I think most subsequent babies are bigger than the first.

Mine were:

8lb at 41wks
6lb 11 at 37+5

I think my second would have been bigger had she been born at same gestation as first they say at that point it's half an a lb a week so second may have been about 9lb.

Family members all second/third babies have been bigger and even if they are girls.

Ds1 41+2 9lb 3oz
Ds2 39+3 9lb 9oz
Dd1 39+1 9lb 4oz

joynoelle · 16/01/2021 12:10

40+3 8lb 11
40+12 9lb 10

yearinyearout · 16/01/2021 12:10

My second was smaller (first one 9lb, second 7lb 10)

Figgygal · 16/01/2021 12:13

First ds 40+12 9lb 4
2nd 40+10 9lb 2

Bexy1393 · 16/01/2021 12:13

DS1 born at 39+4 - 7lbs 10.5oz
DD2 born at 37+2 - 6lbs 11.5oz

I think DD2 would have been a similar size to DS1 if she had stayed put for another 2 weeks xx

rainbowdashsneeze · 16/01/2021 12:17

My second DD was 10lb 10oz first was 7lb 15oz

Pellewsmate · 16/01/2021 12:19

DS1 Full term 8lb2oz
DS2 Full term 5lb3oz
DS1 could barely fit in newborn clothes, had to panic buy premature baby clothes for DS2.

First a girl at exactly 39 weeks 6lb 13
Second a boy again exactly 39 weeks 8lb 3

I think boys tend to be bigger than girls, but also second babies tend to be bigger! My second birth was less complicated and quicker, though he was bigger. I’m curious to see how big our 3rd will be soon!

Waitingforbabypage · 16/01/2021 14:02

1st was a girl, 3 days early and 7lb 3oz
2nd was a boy, 5 mins late (yes really) and 6lb 10oz

Mammyofasuperbaby · 16/01/2021 14:02

My first was 2lbs 14oz at 33 weeks and was a little less than 5lbs by his due date. His brother was 5lbs 3oz at 36/37 weeks (not entirely sure on his age). He was the same weight at his due date but was very ill before that so was doing well.

Johannessledge · 16/01/2021 14:05

DS1 was 8 Ib 11 at 42 weeks

DS2 was 9 Ib 8 at 41 weeks

DS2 was the much easier labour. He was born with no pain relief and no interventions at all.

8lb 5oz boy - pushing 5 minutes

9lb 15oz girl - she was back to back too so pushing was 10 minutes

Seriously... I really don't think its anything you should worry about. Your body is very unlikely to grow a baby you can't give birth to.

Work on your pelvic floor

Look at positions that increase your pelvis size - squatting, all fours.

Keep exercising

Don't worry

VettiyaIruken · 16/01/2021 15:04

My second was 10lb5oz. But my first was 10lb 4oz so not much difference.

Itsanothernamechange · 16/01/2021 15:06

mbb1 · 16/01/2021 15:11

1st 8lb 5
2nd 10lb
3rd 9lb 9

Cameleongirl · 16/01/2021 15:11

DD: 9lb 10 oz, 3 days over due
DS: 7lb 12oz, induced at 39 weeks.

I wasn’t well after having DD due to a nasty tear and hemorrhaging ( although I did manage to have a VBAC) so my doctor decide to induce DS so he couldn’t get so big! Judging by his weight, he probably would’ve been 9lbs-odd if he’d been 40 weeks.

I have to admit it was an easier birth and recovery, but that may also have been because they were very careful with me after the first time around. I think they’d have whipped me off for a C-section if things hadn’t gone smoothly. Congratulations on pregnancy! 💐
