Hi everyone! Smile I have just had my BPF this morning (after having a faint positive yesterday and confirming it today) but I feel like I have a dull ache in my lower stomach, sort of like pre-period pains.

Has anybody else had this? Is it normal/anything to worry about?

Thanks!

@MommaAtobe Hi I also got my BFP today. Period is due on Wednesday. I've had cramps the past two days, that's actually the reason for testing early! I think it's normal.

MommaAtobe · 21/12/2020 14:49

@eb1989 congratulations! You're exactly the same timings as me, my period is also due on Wednesday. I have also had my cramps since late Saturday/yesterday. No other symptoms but it's a very strange dull ache. Glad to know that it's normal, thank you!

@MommaAtobe congratulations to you too!

I saw some great advice on the Tommy's website -

"Mild stomach pain in early pregnancy (during the first 12 weeks) is usually caused by your womb expanding, the ligaments stretching as your bump grows, hormones constipation or trapped wind. It may sometimes feel like a ‘stitch’ or mild period pain. It’s is probably nothing to worry about if the pain is mild and goes away when you change position, have a rest, do a poo or pass wind."

Emelene · 21/12/2020 14:52

I think cramps can be normal. I went out and bought loads of sanitary towels the day before my BFP as I was convinced my period was coming!

MommaAtobe · 21/12/2020 15:57

@eb1989 that's great advice, thank you! I had a miscarriage in March earlier this year so I am really keeping my fingers crossed with this one, we have been trying for 15 months so it feels like a Christmas miracle but also means that I am overanalysing every single thing! It's so exciting isn't it!

MommaAtobe · 21/12/2020 15:59

@Emelene thank you! It's so weird how the feeling is pretty much the same isn't it? My line was so strong though on the test this morning so I think that's a good sign as it's quite early for such a strong line so I'm going to try and keep my mind busy and stop overanalysing everything (which definitely will not happen!) Smile

@MommaAtobe so sorry to hear of your miscarriage! I also had a miscarriage last month so I'm very very nervous. I guess you just have to take each day as it comes.

Won't be drinking any of the Christmas alcohol we bought!

MommaAtobe · 21/12/2020 16:16

@eb1989 I am sorry to hear about your miscarriage too. I know, we literally bought all of my favourite wine etc on Friday too... I will just be overindulging on the Christmas food this year! I hope that you have a lovely Christmas!

Got my fingers crossed for you too @MommaAtobe 🤞🏻 have a lovely Christmas 🎄

Darklava09 · 24/12/2020 23:35

I’ve got cramps too! Mine are quite bad though I’ve had them each night since I tested positive. I remember cramps with my first but can’t remember them being this strong. Hopefully it’s just the normal and nothing to worry about Smile

MommaAtobe · 26/12/2020 06:40

Mine are still here @Darklava09, they’re just a bit like a constant crap although they have eased a little this morning! I’m hoping it’s just implantation and movement/expansion in there! I will keep my fingers crossed for you too, how far along are you? It’s all so exciting isn’t it! My due date from the NHS calculator is 2 Sept!

Darklava09 · 26/12/2020 08:32

@MommaAtobe yes I’ve been having them most nights and have felt really strong. They eased up yesterday though which is good. I’m around 4 weeks and a few days. Still
Hasn’t sunk in tbh, in my head I was thinking it was going to take a while due to me having endo but it happened this month. Whilst happy I’m so shocked and have a wild range of emotions running around me, I did cry yesterday as I’m just worried about it not lasting! Sad

MommaAtobe · 26/12/2020 10:22

Oh @Darklava09 I’m sorry to hear about your endo, my best fiend has endo and is currently trying! I’m also so worried as I miscarried earlier this year on day 31 (which is today!) so I am just hoping to get through it. The cramps are worrying aren’t they, my cousin said she had them in both her pregnancies though and she has two lovely children! Keep me posted on how you get on. Do you have any other symptoms? I’m just tired and wake up at 4/5am and weeing loads! Nothing else? X

Darklava09 · 26/12/2020 11:53

@MommaAtobe ahh you must be so worried then also. Fingers crossed for you lovely.

I’ve just had cramps and really sore boobs, gone off my food a little and had a metallic taste in my mouth. I had cramps with my first but being so long ago I can’t remember how bad they were! If all is well I will book an early scan as they are doing them for around £49 by me!
Never felt as anxious as this in a long time. Doesn’t help as I saw a psychic for the first time a few months ago and she said I’ll have upset in my pregnancy whatever that means! She was right though about the month I fell pregnant which makes me even more Confused

eb1989 · 28/12/2020 07:58

@Darklava09 congratualtions! The cramps are the thing that made me test. I also have endo and thought I'd never get pregnant! I actually thought those pains was my endo returning!!
How are the cramps now?

How're you getting on @MommaAtobe ?

Darklava09 · 28/12/2020 09:00

@eb1989 same. My consultant was shocked I was pregnant as I had surgery over 12 months ago. He was chuffed as I have adeno aswell.

The cramps are quite strong, mainly on the right side. I’m trying to not panic and just use a hot water bottle each time it happens. I’m dreading going back to work next week now.

eb1989 · 29/12/2020 10:28

@Darklava09 hope the cramps calm down for you soon 💕

BananaHammock23 · 29/12/2020 10:31

I'm 7+4 and had a lot of cramping at the beginning from about 4 weeks when I tested. It subsided at 5 weeks but is back now. I had IVF privately so was able to see a midwife early snd she assured me it's totally normal, so try not to worry! I've started to have mild cramping again now. It's always startling but I think it's just your body doing it's thing Smile

Bethy1995 · 29/12/2020 10:38

Hi All,

I got my BFP on Christmas Eve and according to my dates I'd be 4+3 today. I've been having dull cramps, tender boobs and some snot like discharge (sorry tmi) is this normal? I'm a little anxious as the last time I fell pregnant it ended in MC in July last year and can't remember what my symptoms were with my son who is now nearly 4.

Butterfly93 · 29/12/2020 11:14

Hi all, that’s literally me right now. My AF was due yesterday, I’ve had some stretching in the lower tummy since 2 days ago (I also had this around 6dpo). I was so sure that it was my AF so got prepared and bought pads etc... still nothing today. And the stretching feeling is on and off. I will buy a test later today and do it tomorrow morning

LittleTiger007 · 29/12/2020 11:39

Hi all, I had a miscarriage at 8 weeks in July and am now 20 weeks pregnant. This time around I had mild period type cramps probably until at least week 9 ... maybe the whole of the first trimester ... I can’t really remember. The point being that this was a really good sign! The womb is stretching and opening up and as long as the pain is mild then it’s totally normal. In the second trimester this has stopped but now and again I get a sharp pain from the round ligaments just to remind me that everything is still stretching!
Good luck with your pregnancy ladies xx Flowers

jazzibelle · 29/12/2020 13:20

@MommaAtobe I felt like I was about to come on my period for the whole of my first trimester. I had constant dull twinges and mild cramps the entire time. I've also had loss before, so it was worrying as every time I went to the loo I expect to bleed. But, I'm currently 19 weeks and (fingers crossed) everything seems to be going well. I think it's just your uterus stretching and growing.
