I remember barely being able to keep my eyes open in early pregnancy, but I'm 32 weeks now and it's back with a vengeance.

From about a hour after I wake up until I crawl into bed at 9pm I'm exhausted. Feel like I'm walking through mud.

Then from 11pm onwards (after my first pee stop) I struggle to get back to sleep! Past few nights I've been awake until 3/4 in the morning.

Even on the nights I get lucky and sleep through I'm still tired the next day.

Anyone else want to come and join me in a good moan today?

I'm around 6 weeks with my second and I do NOT remember being this tired first time round! Literally sleeping 10 hours a night plus 4 hour naps and not feeling well enough to get out of bed even when awake...it's a nightmare, just glad I'm on holiday from work x

OnNaturesCourse · 21/12/2020 10:45

Funny, I don't remember feeling this run down with my first either but then I didn't have a toddler to keep alive then either lol and could nap whenever I wanted. I can't do that now. Occasionally I squeeze in a 30 minute nap after dinner but not always possible sadly.

I feel your pain literally. I can only sleep when my toddler sleeps and even then it doesn’t feel long so I wake up more tired lol

Misstiffany · 21/12/2020 10:52

Don’t get me started on peeing millions of times worst thing when you finally get comfy in bed and start to fall asleep and bam

OnNaturesCourse · 21/12/2020 11:47

Yeh I now understand why people have smaller gaps between kids. Least then if the older one is napping you can as well sometimes!

I have an 18 month old and I'm 26 weeks, I really can't remember feeling this exhausted Sad I just feel so so run down this time! DD1 doesn't nap during the day so I can't even nap myself!

OnNaturesCourse · 21/12/2020 16:16

Yep I totally sympathise with you, my toddler doesn't stop from the moment her feet hit the ground in the morning. Don't get me wrong she's brilliant and patient but she gets bored easily.

Ditto! I feel like my batteries have been taken out.

I hear you, just posted on AIBU about being exhausted and feeling like with a toddler to look after and FT work I’m a wreck. I remember with my first though very distinctly once the nights got better and was getting a reasonable amount of sleep feeling so full of energy - I’m hoping this happens again and the pregnancy tiredness becomes a thing of memory. Try to rest and go to bed early whenever you can

MaverickDanger · 21/12/2020 16:29

40+6 and I just sleep when I can now.

I’m ignoring all sense of time so if I have breakfast at 4am, sleep from 7am-11.30am and watch TV at 1.30am, then so be it!

RachShad · 21/12/2020 17:03

I am only 10.5 weeks pregnant and feel physically and mentally exhausted. All I want to do all day everyday is sleep! Please tell me it gets easier in the second trimester?? I could cry, I just want my personality back.
And don't get me started on the nausea!

BearStack · 21/12/2020 18:17

Yeah, and I feel weirdly guilty about it. I can only do one thing per day then that’s me exhausted.

RachShad · 21/12/2020 18:29

Omg me too! I feel guilty too because I have had to phone into work quite alot lately mainly because of the nausea but then I sleep all day and then my partner will get home from work and I feel bad for sleeping all day long when he's just getting home and then I feel bad for not helping make his tea/bait when he's been working all day I feel like I should be helping more!

Luckyelephant1 · 21/12/2020 18:30

Me too, 11 weeks today and the most minor of tasks exhausts me. I don't think lockdown and the dark nights help either. I've not done any exercise for a few weeks now and this makes me feel even worse but I just can't bring myself to!

RachShad · 21/12/2020 18:39

Yeah I agree the dark days don't help! I'm the same, I dont wana do anything because I can't be bothered but then when I don't do anything I feel useless in myself! It does make you feel lonely especially when all my friends have said their pregnancy wasn't like this

skylarkdescending · 21/12/2020 18:47

Yes I was like this during my second pregnancy. Have you had your iron levels checked? Turns out mine were very low (only 1.5 years since first pregnancy). Once I had built my levels back up a bit I felt much better!

Sweettea1 · 21/12/2020 18:49

Have you had blood test recently maybe low in iron I was exhausted with dd turns out I needed iron which made a big difference.

OnNaturesCourse · 21/12/2020 18:52

I had "standard blood tests" at my "28" week appointment 2 weeks ago, not heard anything back so I assume iron is OK? Do they test iron at this stage?

OP posts:
Sweettea1 · 21/12/2020 19:15

They test it in all routine blood tests when pregnant as if its low it can cause problems in labour. if you never heard anything it should be ok but can't do any harm phoning gp surgery and double checking the results.

RachShad · 21/12/2020 19:19

Yeah my results where all fine I think. So guessing it's just the pregnancy taking its toll and affecting my mood

Snackasaurus · 21/12/2020 19:35

@OnNaturesCourse I'm 35 weeks pregnant and tired all the time too as I'm waking up randomly through the night. Think it's our bodies way of getting used to the sleepless nights Xmas Grin

Highheels87 · 21/12/2020 21:21

31 weeks too and struggling to get through the day without a nap once I’m back from work. Thankfully it’s not as exhausting as the first trimester..just Grin

NotThatKindOfDoctor · 21/12/2020 21:53

@MaverickDanger I absolutely love this chat! I have been waking up at ridiculous times and doing tasks that it would ordinarily be insane to do at that time, might add a 4am breakfast in there too 😂

I’m almost 29 weeks with DC4 and today I did absolutely bugger all. Yesterday I felt amazing, but I paid for it today. Thankfully my kids are older and DH kept them busy for me all day. Am hoping for a less exhausted day tomorrow.

RachShad · 21/12/2020 23:05

How has your pregnancy been? I'm in First trimester really finding it hard!! Nausea and extreme tiredness. Is 2nd any better? Your nearly there now not long for you to go!! Hope tomorrow is better for you x

feistymumma · 22/12/2020 00:20

I am constantly exhausted. Wake up exhausted, have a shower and after that I feel drained. I could literally sleep all day.
