9 wks...On my way to an early scan- after some bleeding...

...does anyone have any positive stories?

I'm nearly 9 weeks and have already had 2 mc... one at 5 weeks before my 14 month-old dc and another in August at 6 weeks.

I really thought this one might be ok. TMI it's brownish mucousy blood when I wipe.

I'm in a panic being nearly 40.

I bled a little quite often in the first trimester (actually up to about 16/17 weeks) with both my DC. Something to do with a cervican ectropian I think.

I can absolutely understand why you’re worried after your MCs, but bleeding in first trimester is quite common I believe, so fingers crossed it’s not what you think

I have two positive stories - they're 7 now. Don't assume the worst - see what the scan says. Fingers crossed.

I've had early bleeding with all 4 children, I've also had 2 mc so know your feelings. As you know there's no way of knowing for sure until you have your appt but fingers crossed this is just a normal early bleed. Please let us know how it goes when you're read, I'll check back for updates and be here for you. Deep breaths, you're going to be okay. Are you with anyone or going alone?

Thank you so much for your kind replies. My husband is driving me over with dd in the car but because of covid they can't come in- we have no one to mind the little one and no children allowed. Even though it's a private scan.

So also feeling nervous about that and being on my own for any bad news.

The staff will support you as best as they can whether it's good or bad news. It's good your husband's there anyway, I imagine with either outcome you'll need a big hug and someone to drive you home after. It might be worth keeping your DH on the phone when you're in there so you can update him? I doubt the staff will mind

Thank you for your replies. Bad news though- only measuring 6w 4 days and no heartbeat. Poor little baby.

Feeling so sad and like I won't ever have another baby with these old eggs.

So sorry for ur loss.. Im sort of in the same boat, went for a scan yesterday at 11+2 and baby had stopped growing at 7weeks. Heartbreaking. xxx

OP I know there's nothing I can say that will make it better but you will get there. If it's meant to be, your grumpy eggs will get to work. I really hope that happens for you.

Do you have anyone to be on call to look after DD in case you need to go back to hospital for anything?

@Barmyfarmy thank you so much. It's the if it's meant to be bit... I want it so badly. DH is not at work currently because of covid so he can have dd when she's not at nursery. She gave some great cuddles this evening.

I'm going through my third MC too. I had to have two scans at the EPU a week apart. At the 2nd appointment they took blood for testing, and referred me to the recurrent miscarriage clinic. Like you, I had a MC before having my DD and two after. Do push for a referral if you are thinking of continuing TTC.

I know how you feel, that wanting and needing to have another little one aches like no other pain. It's completely inescapable and yet so unbearable. There's still time for you, there's still a chance. Your DD is so lucky to have you, your need for another child shows how much you love her, it shows you love her so much you need more of her.

I imagine the scan on Friday will update you on the progress of the MC, it's important to make sure you're okay too, even though you don't feel it. There's support available from the hospital as I'm sure you know. Sometimes we forget we can reach out for help though.

I'm so sorry @marplemead it's awful isn't it, the worst thing.
Thank you for sharing your experience... I wasn't sure if having DD in between mc didn't qualify for recurrent and I would like the blood tests - anything we can do to give the next one the best chance.

@Barmyfarmy those are lovely words, thank you. The ache is real! We started trying when DD was 10 months because I really wanted to fall pregnant before 40. We seem to get pregnant easily; second go with the August mc and third try after that for this one... they just seem to fail at about the 5/6 week-ish mark - the time a heartbeat should be starting.

DD took 6 months after mc number 1 so I'm hoping we can try again quite soon and maybe the next one will be ok. It's the mental strain though... the next one will be so tough. All at a time I should be enjoying and soaking up my lovely little girl.

We went private for this scan because the EPU were so rubbish with the last mc- they weren't interested at all. Hopefully they will be helpful on Friday.

I don't think I qualified for a referral either, but the gynecologist took pity on me and didn't really question the fact they weren't consecutive.

I'm not sure what your other MCs were like, but it might be worth thinking about how to manage at home if things happen naturally before Friday. My last two MCs were at 5/6 weeks too, and the bleeding with this one (9 weeks but baby measuring 5/6wks) was much heavier with mild contractions. So having some large pads and painkillers ready might be an idea. Also, might be worth considering what to do if anything recognisable comes out. I kept a small tupperware container in the bathroom, which was advice from another thread. I'm really glad I did.

sorry to read your update. I have had an ectopic, 3 mmc, 2 mc...and I had my last when I was 44. I didnt think for a minute that the pregnancy would last. As awful as your current situation is, it doesnt always mean that is it. Hugs from me

This is so helpful @marplemead I wasn't really sure what to expect. Like you, the last two mc I had at 5/6 weeks were just like really heavy longer-lasting periods, I didn't need painkillers. Good to be prepared. I don't suppose they test anything that comes out so they? I read about maybe genetic testing was a possibility on mc number 3.

I'm in bed now thinking about it still there and nothing I can do to help it
