Scan photo driving me mad. :(

Hi!
I had a scan yesterday and I'm 6+1.
She said my sac looked small irregular and thin.
Heartbeat seen otherwise so I'm holding out hope it's all okay.
I've been staring at the scan all day, I can't help think there's something there?
She said she couldn't find the yolk sac to start with then said it was attached to babies head so I went from the 7 she thought (as she counted the sac in with the baby) so she put me at 6+1.
Am I going insane? I'm just so confused ! I have a re scan in 2 weeks!

I think you're looking at the wrong bit ? My scan at 6+1 looks like the larger bit in the black area on yours ?

tistheseasonnottocoughin · 13/12/2020 18:47

In fact, your picture looks like my 7+1 scan !

tistheseasonnottocoughin · 13/12/2020 18:48

Sorry pressed send too fast !

The shape of the baby is the same - did they give you a print out for your notes ?

georgiaerin · 13/12/2020 18:51

Ah I know where the baby is, I just can't stop starting now I'm seeing parts!

I've had a lot of early scans and thought yours looks ok. Not sure what you have circled though. Only time will tell really and it's a horrible wait.

georgiaerin · 13/12/2020 18:53

By my lMP I should be 7+6 but I knew I'd be earlier
If baby was around 7 weeks that means the G sac is even smaller than it should be? :( do you have a scan of yours at 7 weeks. X

I thought the same until she put in the notes also it's thin and irregular and now I'm panicking!

Is there a reason you're having early scans? I had a couple of early ones because of bleeding and there were some irregularities which really scared me. They seemed to sort themselves out and everything was normal at 12 weeks. Really hoping the same is true for you. I clung onto the fact they could see a heartbeat.

georgiaerin · 13/12/2020 18:58

Early bleeding same happened with my son
My scan with him at nearly 7 weeks looks absolutely nothing like this one at all though

In my 6+1 scan there's a blob (the sac) with a tiny dot on it
On my 7+1 scan it looks just like yours and there was no sac

Fingers crossed everything will go okay, you've seen the heart beat so that's positive ! Try and relax Smile

georgiaerin · 13/12/2020 19:15

This is what she told me egg and baby placement
But before she said 6 weeks she said oh I thought you were 7 but I included the sac but I think it's attached to babies head.
I think I'm 7 tbh but then I'm even more worried about the sac size it's all straight and not much fluid (although she said there is some there)

The bit you’ve circled is tissue outside of the sac. It looks like it’s in the sac due to the irregular shape but it’s not. The sac does appear very thin around the fetal pole. Hopefully things look better at your next scan x

plixy · 13/12/2020 19:32

I'm not an expert but this was my 7 week scan. It's quite thin looking like yours? Nothing was mentioned about the shape of it and My little girl is now 18 months!

Oh wow looks same ish in size not shape but definitely similar. I just felt so let down as she explained nothing no what it could mean or anything! X

I think it's just something they mention as it's something they check is growing regularly? They said the same when I had early scans for DS2+3 and even though they were twins and I'd had 2 MCs they didn't mention it as a bad thing.

Congratulations OP, hope everything goes smoothly Flowers

georgiaerin · 13/12/2020 20:08

Thank you.
She just said she's concerned and obviously I'm panicking but what will be will be and I'm happy there's a heart beat! Xx

I've had 3 people tell me it'll end in miscarriage so there's all positive hope gone. :(

OP posts:
PinkFondantFancy · 13/12/2020 22:56

Try not to worry. There's nothing at all you can do to change the outcome either way so try to relax and distract yourself for a couple of weeks if you can. I've been there, it's awful I know.

calimommy · 14/12/2020 03:36

@georgiaerin who told you it would end in miscarriage?

georgiaerin · 14/12/2020 06:43

@calimommy a few people on other groups I've posted. I mean I don't mind being told straight up but it's just as sonograoher didn't say that I'm even more confused now!

OP posts:
TheDaydreamBelievers · 14/12/2020 06:51

@georgiaerin I totally understand the worry and stress but none of those people telling you itll end, nor anyone telling you it wont are professionals. All you can do is try to relax and stay healthy for 2 weeks.

Was the sonographer nhs? Unfortunately a lot of private companies only really do this for money so give scans with v shoddy info. I personally feel private scan places should not be allowed to scan till 10+ weeks or so. If NHS, they will stick to facts and hopefully you'll find out more in 2 weeks time.

georgiaerin · 14/12/2020 06:56

It was nhs :)
I forgot I had a private scan booked for next week as I thought I'd be 8 weeks by then so I'm going to call and explain everything and go from there. The sonographers in my private scan place are from NHS also.

MrsB2019x · 14/12/2020 07:33

Would it be worth calling them up today and asking them to explain it a little to you? You can’t go on for 2 weeks in this horrendous limbo 💙
