Light pink discharge 7 DPO, am I pregnant?

Hi everyone. This is my second cycle after a miscarriage at 9 weeks back in October. My cycles seem to be regular again, I had my first period exactly 30 days after my MC bleeding stopped which is bang on my cycle length.

I’m currently 7 days past ovulation and 7 days away from my next period. We’ve been trying a lot this month and I felt some pains in one side of my abdomen around ovulation, and then for the last few days I’ve had the below symptoms:

Tired
Nauseous (occasionally)
Weird dreams
Clumsy/dizzy
Milky thin discharge (no odour) quite a large amount

Then today I went to the loo and I have light pink discharge. Could it be implantation or is it too early? I didn’t get implantation bleeding until the day my period was supposed to start last time.

We haven’t had sex in the last few days so I know it isn’t from that... just wondering what’s going on as things seem a bit different to last time.

Thanks all ☺️

I hope you are. I would recommend you get a pregnancy test. Clear blue early detection or First Response. You can pick them up anywhere. From chemist to supermarkets.

All the best of luck.

Cafeaulait27 · 04/12/2020 20:12

Hi @Naz2009 thank you for replying! I might pick one up tomorrow. Can they give a positive this early?

I feel so dizzy and headache this evening as well as really tired, and that’s when I went to the loo and saw the pink discharge.

I think it's still way to soon to do a test try waiting till atleast 12 days from ovulation or day before af is due xx fingers crossed for a few days time

Naz2009 · 04/12/2020 20:34

@Cafeaulait27 yes both the tests I have advised you to get will give a result 6 days before period is due. You said you're 7 days away from your due date.
Personally I would say get one tomorrow and do it. Sorry for saying this. If you're not pregnant and the symptoms you have are also pregnancy symptoms. You will get your hopes up and be very upset if you wait until your due date. I say this from experience, it took me 7 years to conceive
Ideally it's always best to wait a few days after your missed period.

Cafeaulait27 · 04/12/2020 20:54

Thanks guys ☺️ I can understand both points of view, it’s hard especially after the mc I don’t want to get my hopes up but I can feel I’m already getting excited and hopeful. I really feel pregnant, it’s strange because it’s so early.

I think I might buy an early detection test but wait until Monday to take it. That will be 5 days before my period is due so might show something? I’ll try not to get too disheartened if it’s negative and then wait till the date my period is due to do a test.

I feel like I’m getting obsessive and crazy again already!

Cafeaulait27 · 05/12/2020 07:15

I also started taking 75mcg of aspirin today just in case I am pregnant- my mc wasn’t investigated as it was the first one but as low dose aspirin doesn’t cause any harm I figured why not.

Cafeaulait27 · 05/12/2020 07:49

This morning I’ve got definite brown discharge. This can’t be my period a week early can it? I’m not getting any of the cramps usually associated with the beginning of my period.

Feel like I’m talking to myself on this thread but hopefully someone will reply who has had a similar experience or this might be useful for someone reading this in the future.

I’m feeling really hopeful! Also really hungry and need to pee a lot! (Bit early for those symptoms though surely?)

OP posts:
Naz2009 · 05/12/2020 08:47

@Cafeaulait27 do not take aspirin. It's a blood thinner and I wouldn't recommend it if you're pregnant.
Also if you're pregnant or trying to get pregnant you need to start taking folic acid. You can get the tablets from boots.

Naz2009 · 05/12/2020 08:58

@Cafeaulait27 I took pregnacare during my pregnancy. It's a multi vitamin for expectant mums. Superdrug's often have 3 for 2 on them.
Brown discharge can be old blood from previous period mixed with discharge.
I hope I haven't sadden you and bring you down. But could it be you're hungry as you're excited and happy.
I've had your symptoms, feeling tired, nausea, hungry and no cramps and i to thought I was pregnant I got extra happy when my period got delayed. The day I did test it was negative second day form the period.
It's horrible feeling. Hence why I don't want you to get upset.
This is why I advised you the tests yesterday
Wishing you all the best.

Cafeaulait27 · 05/12/2020 09:12

@Naz2009 thank you - I’m already taking folic acid and vitamin d and have been since starting to try to conceive.

Low dose aspirin is actually very safe during pregnancy, it is used to help with clotting issues and can prevent miscarriage if you have a clotting issue which is stopping blood getting to the baby. Although nothing was investigated with my miscarriage, I often think this could be the reason as the pregnancy was going well, the baby was just small and then stopped developing. As there are no risks to me or baby I figured may as well take it. Women who are told to take it in pregnancy usually take it until 36 weeks.

Here’s a link if you want to have a read about it ☺️

Are you pregnant at the moment? If so how far along are you?

Thanks for replying to me and your help, I’m going to buy a test today and will feed back! ☺️

Also @Naz2009 my last period was mid November and I have ovulated since then, so I really don’t think this brown discharge can be left over from my last period as that was over 2 weeks ago xx

Naz2009

Aspirin is recommended in pregnancy for load's of different reasons.
In prescribed 150mg daily because I had previous pre eclampsia

Naz2009 · 05/12/2020 10:32

@Cafeaulait27 I was never aware of aspirin used for such a reason thank you for the information.
Sadly not this month. I've been trying for 4 years to get pregnant again. I had my first DD after 7 years of trying to conceive.

Cafeaulait27 · 05/12/2020 11:25

@Naz2009 sorry to hear that, but lovely that you have your daughter. Do you know any reason why you’re struggling? I have pcos and so myo inositol and metformin have really helped me to regulate my cycles, I now have 30 day cycles exactly. I also have reduced how much a sugar I eat, I only have sugar on fridays now (like a biscuit or hot chocolate or a chocolate croissant as a treat.

Anyway this might all be useless info for you but I thought it might help ☺️ GPS were useless with my pcos, I really had to fight to be diagnosed and in the end had to go private for the metformin. I knew I had it because I’m hairy, have some hair loss on my head and acne on my face and back, but I’m not overweight. A scan confirmed I have pcos. I hope this may help in some way xxx

do not take aspirin. It's a blood thinner and I wouldn't recommend it if you're pregnant

Don't listen to this, aspirin is totally safe in pregnancy. A few NHS trusts prescribe it to all pregnant women from 12 weeks onwards to minimise chances of pre-eclampsia. Most trusts prescribe it only to women who are more at risk of it. It's also sometimes used to reduce the risk of miscarriage early on.

I really hope you get a BFP this month OP. I would get yourself a FRER and test in a couple of days. My first pregnancy I got a BFP at 9dpo with those tests. My current pregnancy I got a BFP at 13dpo with a FRER.

Naz2009 · 05/12/2020 12:19

@Cafeaulait27 no I never got checked out. DH and I used to say beginning of every year. "Ok if we don't get pregnant this year, we will get checked out"
Come the new year, we would repeat the same oath. We never did go ahead with getting scheme. For 7 years we just tried
when I mentally had exhausted myself and given up on the idea of having a baby.
I only had sex one time in August On DH birthday Blushand guess what missed period still didn't think anything of it. I even had cramps and sore boobs. Waited for period. Then one night thought let me do pregnancy test. I left it and didn't even check for about half an hour. When I went back to actually throw it away. I saw 2 red lines. I couldn't believe my eyes.

You mention the acne on back, I to have this now, it's started around 6 months ago along with Hot flashes. However my periods have been normal. Every 30/32days for 10 days long.
I will cut down on sugar. I do like to drink lots and lots of mugs of tea throughout the day with 2 spoons of sugar.
I shall cut this out.
I used to do ovulation test and do the deed on that time to increase my chances of pregnancy. I thought if I'm ovulating then I don't have anything wrong with me.
I will look into what you're mentioned.
Thank you so much. And again wishing you so much luck. (excited for you)

Cafeaulait27 · 05/12/2020 18:37

@ShalomToYouJackie thank you I didn’t know this, it’s good to hear that some trusts prescribe it as standard as I think it can really help people. It takes 3 consecutive mcs for investigations to start and potentially find a clotting issue too.

@Naz2009 definitely worth checking out further. To have pcos you don’t have to have all the symptoms, you might even not have any outward symptoms at all. You say you do it when you’re ovulating, how often? Me and my husband do it every day for about a week around ovulation, and every few days before/after that when I’m not on my period.

I’ve had a small amount of brown discharge today, but when I went to the loo tonight I had a tiny blob of watery bright red blood. It looks a bit like the red I had at the start of my miscarriage (but a much smaller amount). I know that implantation bleeding can be red so trying not to get too worried. I guess I just have to wait and see if it gets worse or stops.

My period isn’t due for 6 days, I’ve never had a chemical pregnancy before - I hope it’s not that. ☹️

OP posts:
Cafeaulait27 · 05/12/2020 20:25

So NOW I feel really nauseous. I didn’t even feel nauseous much with my last pregnancy, but tonight it’s really hit me and I feel really dizzy and tired too.

I might do a test in the morning!!

OP posts:
88bowie · 05/12/2020 20:48

Fingers crossed for you op

Naz2009 · 05/12/2020 23:47

@Cafeaulait27 don't even think negatively. It won't be another miscarriage. Nausea is the worst ever but all worth it at the end. I hope you have managed to eat. Rest up relax and take it easy. Please do do the test
Not everyday during ovulation. I used to at first. It's 11 years now since trying so it's doing it every other day or more frequently during ovulation then not doing at all. It can really take its toll on you and comes a point when it's not about having fun. It becomes a chore almost. Anyways I'm sorry I've taken over your thread. This is about you and not me.
Have you ever had spotting of this nature before a period?
Don't let it worry you, a test will confirm your pregnancy. You could always ring up GP Monday morning and ask for blood test to see if you're pregnant. It's unfortunate it takes 3 miscarriages for them to do anything. I'm sorry you had to go through a miscarriage before. Can't imagine how awful it must of been. May you never have to go through that again.

Cafeaulait27 · 06/12/2020 09:01

Thank you everyone.

@Naz2009 I totally understand, it does become a chore when you’re doing it every day!

I’ve never had a period like this - when I had the bit of bright red blood it was totally different to a period as it was kind of watery (usually my period blood is a kind of richer red and more gloopy) TMI

I did a first response test at 4am as I needed a wee and couldn’t sleep. Got a faint line!!!! Yay!!!

I’m worried it’s going to turn into a chemical though, my period isn’t due til Friday so I will test again then. Last time I was pregnant I didn’t get implantation bleeding until my period was due (I thought it was my period, and started drinking!) so I must’ve ovulated late that time but ovulated pretty much bang on this time.

I feel tired, nauseous, hungry and dizzy, and my boobs/nipples are sore. I hope this is a good sign that my hormones are really kicking in.

Fingers crossed this baby makes it 🤞 will update you all on Friday again. Xxx

Cafeaulait27 · 06/12/2020 09:02

Here’s the test - can you see the line?

Light pink discharge 7 DPO, am I pregnant?
OP posts:
88bowie · 06/12/2020 09:04

I can see a very faint line 👏👏

Naz2009 · 06/12/2020 09:17

@Cafeaulait27 Yes i can see a very faint line. Smile if you hadn't mentioned it. I would not have noticed it.
God willing it will not be a chemical pregnancy. Please don't even think of that.
You just relax yourself.
All those symptoms are not fun. But they make it all worth it once you hold your baby.
Keep hydrated and eat small dry snacks to help with nausea. Such as dry cereal, ginger biscuits, toast with small amount of butter.
You rest up, I hope you are able to sleep and unwind as you're feeling tired. Don't over do anything.
Take care. Best of luck.
