Newly pregnant - due date close to daughter's birthday

I'm probably moaning about nothing as there's far more people with closer due dates than this. But I've just found out I'm pregnant and the due date August 15th. I have a daughter born July 20th of 2018 at 40w4d. I'm kicking myself and feel a bit of an idiot that I didn't wait just one month longer thinking "oh well it'll probably take a few months this time" (it didn't!) It's a big time anyway but I feel kind of awful, I don't want the kids's birthdays to overshadow one another or anything. I'm just afraid this one will be born at 38w or something and I'll end up with another July baby.

Has anyone else got children with close birthdays and can you give me some reassurance. I want to know the good bad and ugly. Do the kids mind, that's all I really care about. Thanks :)

@pab88 Congratulations on your BFP! I don’t have kids yet (due July!) but my sister and I were born 2 years and 2 days apart so celebrate our birthdays on 14 & 16th Aug. We have always grown up celebrating our birthdays together & loved having joint parties when we were kids. We still reunite every year with our families that week so we can all celebrate together ☺️ I’m sure your daughter will feel be made to feel special by you no matter what!! xxx

Mine & my brother's birthdays are 4 days apart, I don't remember it ever mattering!

NoGoodPunsLeft · 02/12/2020 15:09

2 years & 4 days 🤦🏻‍♀️

icedaisy · 02/12/2020 15:09

There Are four of us, all due same DATE in August. All late, but all August. August is birthday month, we had separate parties etc but I used to find it strange when others didn't have the same month and often wondered how they knew which was birthday month! Not an issue at all in terms of overshadow.

DontFadeAway · 02/12/2020 15:12

I look after a brother and sister and their birthdays fall on the 11th & 12th of the same month!

SmartPinkShoes · 02/12/2020 15:13

My cousins share a birthday, but a few years apart. They love the shared connection. My brothers birthday is really close to mine, but my sisters is 6 months later. We'd have loved to all be close together.

Noidea2114 · 02/12/2020 15:17

Ds 8th December, DD 11th December. Both premature so couldn't predict when they came.

SunnySideUp2020 · 02/12/2020 15:17

Me and my twin brother share the same birthday (obviously.)
And it's awesome! Joint bigger parties, more friends, more fun, more presents.

But yours are not exactly overshadowing each other. It's a month apart!!!

RWK29 · 02/12/2020 15:20

I’m one of 3, all born 8 days apart 😊 14th, 22nd and 30th of the month. Never mattered at all growing up. Expensive month for our parents though 🤣🙈

autumnboys · 02/12/2020 15:20

My three have their birthday within a five week block. Their due dates were the same week, so I thought we did quite well to space them that much. They’ve just turned 11, 15 & 17, never been a problem.

Congratulations! Flowers

feistymumma · 02/12/2020 15:22

Congratulations! I don't at the moment but if all goes well I am expecting on the 23rd July and my youngest's birthday is on the 21st July. Hope I won't be in labour on her birthday!

Bluejayway91 · 02/12/2020 15:23

My sister and I are a month and 2 days apart, with Christmas right in the middle. It wasn't so bad growing up.

My birthday is next week and my baby is due the week after, and then there's Christmas. Hoping they're on time Confused

ashley69ly · 02/12/2020 15:25

My brother's birthday is the day after mine. Never been a problem. Separate parties though as there's 4 years between us so not many shared friends.

Santaisironingwrappingpaper · 02/12/2020 15:26

My dc are 3/11 +5/11
16/9+25/9
10/01+20/01
And 2 share the exact date!! Never had any issues at all - negatively anyway!

Itmaybeus · 02/12/2020 15:32

My siblings have birthdays within days of each other. My birthday is six months later - it was me that was more upset than them when young.

My dc has a birthday the day after mine - neither birthday is overshadowed.

I have dt who obviously share a birthday they have separate parties (usually one weekend before and one weekend after) and a joint family tea on their birthday (separate cakes).

I think it is what you make of it. We've always aimed to make each birthday individual and special.

passthemustard · 02/12/2020 15:49

My youngest 2 are 4yrs and 4 days apart. Both first week in May. I'm in the same week as my eldest DD and my MIL. My DS is a day apart from my mother and I'm due a baby in a few weeks at Xmas. Sometimes you just can't plan these things 😂

BaronessBomburst · 02/12/2020 15:53

DS was predicted for 2 days before DH birthday, and ended up being induced 3 days before mine. We just turn it into a birthday month with individual celebrations for each of us and a weekend away or something as a family treat. Don't worry, you can make it work!

Sanch1 · 02/12/2020 15:55

I've got 19 June and 25 July and it's really not a problem!

Redhead37 · 02/12/2020 15:56

Mine are 2 years and 4 days apart... for my second baby I spent the first ones birthday holding my breath and keeping my legs crossed, and he hung on for 4 days!! I worried constantly about it, but midwives kept saying to me not to worry - babies come at a time convenient to you !! Not sure how that works... so mine are still young, but we have had joint parties, always separate birthday cakes, and I keep one present to give to the non birthday one on siblings birthday - which always goes fine well..

Whenwillow · 02/12/2020 16:02

I'm a week apart from my sister. We loved it when we were little as we had a shared party. As we got older we each celebrated our birthday on the nearest weekend. And now, neither of us bother too much, and quite often just go out for lunch, just the two of us.
A friend of mine had her daughter on her own birthday. Daughter quite reasonably always got the birthday on the correct date, and my poor friend squeezed her own in when she had time!

Thesaltandthesea · 02/12/2020 16:08

It's DD's birthday tomorrow and I have an ELCS booked for Friday. Worst. Timing. Ever.

FTMF30 · 02/12/2020 16:12

@Sanch1

I've got 19 June and 25 July and it's really not a problem!
I wouldn't count that as being close.
Monkeytapper · 02/12/2020 16:16

My kids birthdays are 15th and 18th July, when they were little we used to have joint birthday parties and now they are older they get to pick an activity to do and a meal out one the weekend before and one the weekend after.
It’s great and get all the expense out of the way altogether and right in the middle of the year too.
They don’t seem to mind as they don’t know any different.

Monkeytapper · 02/12/2020 16:16

Just to add there is just short of 2 years between them.

Monkeytapper · 02/12/2020 16:18

I know someone who had wp2 boys a year apart , both born on Xmas day!
