Newly pregnant - due date close to daughter's birthday

I'm probably moaning about nothing as there's far more people with closer due dates than this. But I've just found out I'm pregnant and the due date August 15th. I have a daughter born July 20th of 2018 at 40w4d. I'm kicking myself and feel a bit of an idiot that I didn't wait just one month longer thinking "oh well it'll probably take a few months this time" (it didn't!) It's a big time anyway but I feel kind of awful, I don't want the kids's birthdays to overshadow one another or anything. I'm just afraid this one will be born at 38w or something and I'll end up with another July baby.

Has anyone else got children with close birthdays and can you give me some reassurance. I want to know the good bad and ugly. Do the kids mind, that's all I really care about. Thanks :)

Typo- 2 boys

CorianderQueen · 02/12/2020 16:21

It's an entire month...

JumperooSue · 02/12/2020 16:23

It’s a total non issue in the nicest way. I have a Christmas Eve baby, was due mid December, I really wouldn’t give it another thought!

Mishmased · 02/12/2020 16:31

My colleague had her elective section in her daughter's fifth birthday. No big deal.

Grumpy19 · 02/12/2020 16:32

2 years and 11 days between my two girls. They love a joint party, just demand separate cakes 😂 this one will be arriving about 2 weeks after DC3s birthday.
We laugh because if you count back roughly 9 months from all these birthdays you get to DH's birthday!! 🤣

Bibidy · 02/12/2020 16:42

Tbh I don't think it matters to kids at all. More a pain for parents who have to afford 2 birthdays in a short space of time!

FTEngineerM · 02/12/2020 16:49

I our family we have birthdays on the
25th 26th 31th may
1st 8th 10th 16th 21st June

Don’t worry about it, nobody overshadows anyone else’s day. Everybody’s birthday is special.

BarbiesWorld · 02/12/2020 17:01

DS was due 4 days before DDs birthday. Luckily he was a little early so there are exactly 2 weeks between the two Smile

We joke that it's because we clearly only have sex once a year Grin

starrynight19 · 02/12/2020 17:05

My dd birthdays are the 13th and 18th. They just celebrate it on the nearest weekend to each date.
It doesn’t bother them , they shared one party when they were small but other than that have done their own thing.
Congratulations by the way.

Whattodo914 · 02/12/2020 17:06

I share a birthday with my sibling and we have always loved it! You’d think it would annoy us, but it never has. We still make a fuss together, even as grown ups. Obviously there was a big period of time where we definitely did not share a party Grin but it never annoyed either one of us and we always liked it.

Frame it as something special. Your daughter is likely to pick up on your vibe about it.

grandmasterstitch · 02/12/2020 17:08

I know a family with 3 children born 17th 19th and 21st of the same month. It never bothered them. My friend is due with her second the day before her son's birthday. It just happens I think. Chances are this baby will be earlier so there will be a slightly bigger gap

ArmchairCritics · 02/12/2020 17:09

Really struggling to see the issue here....

Hellomoonstar · 02/12/2020 17:21

Ds2 was went to be born on ds1 birthday (I had a c-section booked). But ds2 came few weeks earlier. They now have their own month, followed by dh birthday month. Me and ds3 are the odd ones out according to ds1.

Emelene · 02/12/2020 17:32

I have 2 years minus 2 days between my babies. They had the same due date so I'm just glad they don't share a birthday! I think it's great, we will do something exciting around that time as a family but then each have an individual birthday. Don't worry, just be glad for your growing family. Congratulations!

MrsApplepants · 02/12/2020 17:32

My sister was born on my birthday. As a child it really wasn’t very nice, for either of us and I resented my parents for it. As adults we aren’t close so it doesn’t matter. I don’t think I’d have minded at all if the birthdays were days apart though, that would have been fine.

HoldMeCloserTonyDanza · 02/12/2020 17:35

My sister in law and her sister share the same birthday, one year apart. They love it and are two peas in a pod.

I have siblings who are four days apart and I don’t think they have ever had a positive or negative feeling about it - it just is!

TheVanguardSix · 02/12/2020 17:36

DD was born on my birthday! Grin You can't top that as a birthday present. DH and DS1's birthdays are literally a day apart, so poor DH gets leftover cake the next day. My step-nieces (sisters) share a birthday, two years apart.
It happens and I think it's magnificent. It's definitely conversation worthy. You get used to sharing birthdays and they don't know any different. I have a friend with 3 boys, all born in May. It's an expensive month! It happens. It'll all be ok and much less of a worry than you think. I think it's rather lovely actually.

Twizbe · 02/12/2020 17:37

This is very common.

My two were due on the same day 2 years apart. One rocked up 8 days early the other 2 days late.

I remember DC1s 2nd birthday abs spending the whole day with my legs crossed hoping they didn't share a birthday lol.

GirlCalledJames · 02/12/2020 17:40

My son was due on my daughter’s birthday but was a month early.
Adults consider their birthdays close but they don’t. A lot happens for a kid in a month.

mumof1babe · 02/12/2020 17:47

I had my first son 20th June 2018 and second son early July 2 years later. Looking forward to them having birthdays close together to be honest! Husbands is also 3 days after baby no 2!

movingonup20 · 02/12/2020 20:25

I'm 3 days apart with my brother, not ideal but he was really late, 3 weeks apparently (they didn't induce then £

umberellaonesie · 02/12/2020 20:29

My 3 are all the same week and its my birthday too. 1st, 2nd, 4th and 5th
We have birthday week, celebrations everyday and everyone gets birthday cake for breakfast on their actual birthday. It is actually really special and we love our birthday week.
