How long did it take you to get pregnant after mc?

I miscarried last week and am mourning the missed opportunity. I keep reading online about people being more fertile following a mc. I need something to work towards mentally (obviously I'm not sure when I'll next ovulate).

How long did it take you to get a positive test after a mc?

4 weeks and 7 weeks

dottiedaisee · 01/12/2020 21:52

8 weeks

Sansa87 · 01/12/2020 21:53

@SenoraSurf I had surgical management on 27th July, & my negative on 5th.

I got my positive on 28th August, & currently 17+4 pregnant.

larrythelizard · 01/12/2020 21:55

7 months but took 2.5 months to resolve the miscarriage so 4/5 months of actual trying

FirstTimeScared · 01/12/2020 21:57

Taken me 15 months to get my rainbow 🌈 fingers crossed 🤞 for a sticky this time. Sorry for your loss 😔

NC866 · 01/12/2020 21:58

About 3-4 weeks, it was a shock that it happened so fast

happytoday73 · 01/12/2020 21:59

I had one late period and then caught on next cycle

MojoJojo71 · 01/12/2020 22:06

4 weeks. I conceived again straight after and DD was born 39 weeks and 6 days after my miscarriage.

Sorry for your loss OP, take care of yourself and best of luck Flowers

SenoraSurf · 01/12/2020 22:10

To those that got a bfp 4 weeks after, does that mean the miscarriage counts as the beginning of a cycle?? I'm not sure how to track my dates from this point.

Immediately, no period in between

Whoevenknows79 · 01/12/2020 22:15

6 months

I had one period in between my mmc (9 weeks) and my son. So about 1.5 months. I waited a month purposely as that was the advice given to me. I got pregnant on the first try a month after and we are incredibly lucky to have our 2 year old now. I had a miscarriage before so I was worried but please just take things as they come and don’t worry yourself too much. I’m so sorry for your loss but things will get slightly easier with time.

3rdtimelucky2019 · 01/12/2020 22:30

Yes, take start of miscarriage as start of cycle (roughly).

Sansa87 · 01/12/2020 22:31

@SenoraSurf my surgery was counted as cd1, however I didn’t ov until cd20 when I’d usually ov around14/15.

TheDaydreamBelievers · 02/12/2020 07:30

I've just had surgery for a MMC @SenoraSurf and was advised not to TTC until after first natural period

JanQi · 02/12/2020 07:57

I fell again on my second cycle after the MC. I was advised to wait until I'd got my period again to start trying but we ignored this - I think the main reason they recommend it is because it can be confusing to work out how far along you which can cause unecessary worry. I just wanted to be pregnant again as soon as possible. I think it does depend when you miscarried too. Mine was early and my hormones settled down quickly so I felt ready.

Moo678 · 02/12/2020 08:08

I’ve had several miscarriages so it varies. Quickest was approx 8 wks - I’ve never caught the next cycle although not for want of trying. Longest was my MMC with surgery but I bled for around 3 months following that and ended up taking the pill to regulate my cycle - was also a bit messed up mentally. Think it took around 6 months to conceive again.

Sorry for your loss xx

Moo678 · 02/12/2020 08:10

Current pregnancy I miscarried early July, had a period a month later and my LMP was 3rd September so about 8 wks. I’m now 13 wks and all seems ok.

ShalomToYouJackie · 02/12/2020 08:33

Miscarried in October 2019 and it finished in Nov 2019 and got my BFP in Aug 2020 and now 18 weeks pregnant so it took 8-9 months

Ttwinksy · 02/12/2020 08:37

I had a miscarriage that started middle of May, but was incomplete and dragged on for close to 4 weeks (I had an MVA in the end, which in hindsight I wish I’d had done sooner). It was only right towards the end of that that I started to get negative pregnancy tests. Took that long for the hormones to get out of my system I guess. We tried again that same month with no luck. First period was exactly two weeks after first negative pregnancy test, so I obviously didn’t ovulate until the miscarriage was completely over. Conceived next cycle which was early-mid July. This one is looking like a keeper 😍

RustyCat · 02/12/2020 10:32

I had a MMC end of April, it took 8 weeks for me to get my period back again and I fell pregnant with my rainbow babies in August 😊 so about 4 months total.

Sansa87 · 02/12/2020 10:52

To add to my previous comment. Although I did fall pregnant before having a period, & that sounds great. Mentally, it was horrendous. Every twinge I thought I was losing this bubba again.

In hindsight I probably should’ve waited at least one cycle. I know how desperate you are to be pregnant again, I was. But my god the anxiety and stress was horrific. Even now I struggle (bump is suddenly non existent, i just look chubbier. Symptoms have all gone) all normal stuff but I’m now terrified of my 20 week scan in a couple of weeks.

Basically please really think it over, because it’s so hard.

Cornflake24 · 02/12/2020 11:13

MVA 20th July and negative test 13th August and I am now 5+2

SenoraSurf · 02/12/2020 13:05

Thank you everyone.

@Sansa87 I totally understand. I feel like I'm already apprehensive about being pregnant as I feel like with dc1, I took it for granted. I guess now I know the feeling of loss, it feels so much more fragile.

I was 6+2 when I miscarried last Friday. The clots stopped on Sunday and the bleeding is now tapering off too. Scan on Monday confirmed no baby or sack but my lining was thickened so she said to probably expect more blood loss. It hasn't happened tho.

I'm going to test on Monday and when I get a bfn, I'll start opk's again to try and get a handle on where my cycle is at.

Thanks again everyone, love hearing about all your pregnancy's x
