I had my scan today I believe I'm 5weeks and 3 days from last period .. last week they scanned me as I had a few pains and had previous MC and the only seen a thickening lining.

A week later today they can see a sac yolk and a Fetus but not a heartbeat as yet I was wondering if this is normal as it's sending my anxiety through the roof and would really appreciate any stories to this xxx

It's only 50/50 chance of seeing a heartbeat at 6 weeks or so. Stop getting so many early scans. They aren't helping your anxiety. Now that you know it isn't ectopic, not anything can be done either way things go.

Nonamesavail · 23/11/2020 12:11

I never saw before 6 weeks with any of mine.

PurpleIsTheColour · 23/11/2020 12:15

Absolutely normal, in some cases they can’t see the HB until you’re well into the 7 weeks so absolutely no need to worry about it xx

Closingtime94 · 23/11/2020 12:22

I saw mine at 5 weeks and 6 days

Turtleturtle81 · 23/11/2020 12:24

I saw one at 5+5 but I think that was very lucky. That was through an NHS scan.

mollieangel123 · 23/11/2020 13:27

Thankyou all so much for your replies reason Iv actually had these scans early is from complications Iv experienced so I'd appreciate the bitchiness of it especially when I'm feeling so anxious. Guess you always get one tho 🙄 really appreciate the replies though! Thankyou! Xxx

Hi. I’m the same as you 5+3 days and definitely wouldn’t expect to see a heartbeat this early. DH and I were talking today and saying maybe we would go for a private scan at 7/8 weeks with the expectation to see a heartbeat. Anything before that I think would make me more worried as if I didn’t see one I’d think the worst when realistically it might just have been too early to see it if that makes sense? Please don’t worry, and maybe try a scan at 7 weeks? Hope that helps Xx

MummyOfZog · 23/11/2020 14:51

I had a scan at 7+2 and saw the heartbeat. I've never had a scan earlier than that so unsure when is the earliest though. My private clinic advised to wait until 7 weeks

tisonlymeagain · 23/11/2020 14:51

Scan at 5+1, no heartbeat, scan at 7+2, clear heartbeat.

4Minions2CallMyOwn · 28/11/2020 01:01

I ended up having a scan today at 6 weeks and 2 days. They could see a gestational sack and a yolk sack matching the dates, however sadly no fetal pole yet. They are going to rescan in a week, but I’m worried as from reading the above posts it doesn’t sound good. Am I right in thinking most people saw a fetal pole this early just no heartbeat yet? Thanks

4Minions2CallMyOwn · 28/11/2020 01:04

I should say I only had a scan as some bleeding and pain, certainly wouldn’t have otherwise as I know it’s very early

OrangeIsTheNewTwat · 28/11/2020 01:16

6 weeks ish from last period, emergency scan. DD was born healthy.

hotcrosswhat · 28/11/2020 03:47

I had a private reassurance scan at 7+5 and the heartbeat was easy to see. It is possible to see sooner but not always, so I waited until then as I wanted to be sure I was far enough along to know definitively either way if there was a heartbeat. It was hard to wait though. Best wishes OP x

WingingIt2021 · 28/11/2020 05:44

@mollieangel123 I had a NHS scan at 5+2 and just a sac and yolk. Was told it would be virtually impossible to see a heartbeat then. Am back on Tuesday when I'll be 6+6 because of bleeding. When I spoke to private clinics they told me they advise customers to come at 7 weeks because even at 6 weeks it is common not to see a heartbeat yet and causes unnecessary stress. So you are absolutely fine! I was very relaxed when I didnt see one last week 🙂 keep us updated xx

dippyegg32 · 28/11/2020 07:05

An nhs scan found the heartbeat at 5+4 but I'm aware that's rather atypical x

Moo678 · 28/11/2020 07:53

I’ve had quite a few reassurance scans from the nhs due to previous losses. They wouldn’t scan me before 8 wks as they said the chances of seeing a heartbeat before then are too hit and Miss. I’ve stuck with this if booking private scans too.

It’s absolutely normal not to see a heartbeat before 6 or even 7 wks. I understand you’ve been scanned because of complications but I do think your health care providers have been remiss in not having explaining things to you and I do think that scans before 7 wks seem to lead to a huge amount of anxiety. Sounds like the pregnancy is progressing - I’m sure if you are scanned again in a couple of weeks you will see a heart beat.

Picklybits · 28/11/2020 07:57

With my girl, it was 5+5
With my boys, both 6+4

Mishmased · 28/11/2020 08:11

Currently pregnant and had to have a scan at epu and i was 6+4 heartbeat seen. My epu doesn't scan before 6 weeks so you should be ok.xx

firsttimemummyxxxxx · 28/11/2020 08:32

I saw mine at 6+2, try not to stress as the earliest I’ve heard of people seeing it is 6 weeks x

mummytonicekidz · 28/11/2020 08:34

I had a six week scan with dd2 I could see a heart beat

Olivebranch26 · 28/11/2020 09:42

I had a scan 5+4 and there's was just a sack and not much more. I just had another scan at 7+4 and I saw the heartbeat, baby looked like a tadpole Smile

pooopypants · 28/11/2020 09:58

7w for me, 2 DC, I had early scans due to a previous ectopic

5w is a bit early to see a HB so try to not stress too much, though that's easier said than done!

mollieangel123 · 28/11/2020 10:30

Thankyou all for the replies I have scan on Monday so hopefully il see one ☺️ reading your responses really helps! Really appreciate it xx
