Anyone over 40 weeks?

Hey folks

Anyone else seen their ‘due date’ come and go recently and now found themselves in the weird limbo stage?!

I’m 40+5, and doing tons of spinning babies exercises, then lying back down for most of the day! Feeling pretty well all things considered.

My personal feelings are that I’ll go right to 42 weeks before accepting an induction, as I am a low risk pregnancy and had a good labour with DC1 at 41+1. I’m also going to refuse a sweep until at least another week.

So I’m trying to stay chill, listen to my hypnobirthing tracks and NOT watch the news!

If you’re in the same boat, give me a wave! 👋🏻

I'm 40+1 today. Had my first sweep this morning and so far I've had no indication that she's on the way. With DD1 I had 5 sweeps and none of them worked. Luckily she came 2 days before her induction date.

Gerdticker · 04/11/2020 15:17

Hi @Minkies13 and welcome

Wow 5 sweeps! Could the midwife actually do the sweep each time? (as in the midwife could reach your cervix and separate the membranes?) , or was it a matter that they kept having to go back and try again?

Hope you don’t have to have quite so many this time Smile

I trying my best not to let my slightly anxious midwife make me feel jumpy - her personality is very diligent which I appreciate but I need to stay relaxxxxeddddd Grin

@Gerdticker I'm the same as you 40+12 on Tuesday when they would want to induce, my midwife seems to be avoiding discussing/booking it yet to try not to put too much pressure on. She tried a sweep today but not quite able to get inside the cervix today so trying again on Friday 🤞 spending lots of time on my ball and time to chill now!

Gerdticker · 04/11/2020 20:19

@WaveStreet so I saw my midwife this afternoon and agreed to book in a pessary induction for Monday! Apparently in my trust if you go over 40+12 and are induced, you have to stay in for monitoring, and unfortunately they are too busy on Tuesday, so it had to be Monday, when I’ll be 40+11

It’s all a mad guessing game isn’t it.

Unfortunately I don’t feel crampy or any twinges or anything yet...

Also my baby is almost back to back, so I’m back on the spinning babies site to try and bring it round a bit! Goodness knows if it will work but I hate sitting around doing nothing

Gerdticker · 04/11/2020 21:54

Hi ladies!

Im 40+4 and getting induced Sunday with the pessary and being sent back home too! Id love baby to come before then, its my birthday tomorrow too what a lovely present that would be Grin

Will keep you posted

I'm 40 weeks today! My DD was born at 40+5 but I have no inkling when this one will come. Part of me wants him to hang on a bit so I have less time trying to juggle a newborn and toddler during this lockdown (DH will get 2 weeks off, toddler at childminder 3 days, but no visitors and no childcare bubble as my mum is too vulnerable. Sad). But a huge part of me is ready for him to come now! Grin I'm getting loads of cramps / back pain/ Braxton Hicks that just fizzle out - any one else? X

Emelene · 05/11/2020 07:22

Also this website is great fun for those who like stats -

MummaBear4321 · 05/11/2020 07:34

@Emelene yes! That's exactly what I am getting. I also have a toddler and no family support as my family live abroad and wont be coming over til lockdown is done. I am 40+3 today. However, I am lying in bed now and I think I am getting mild contractions and back labour which I had on my DD. Will have to see if it comes to anything or if it too fizzles out.

Gerdticker · 05/11/2020 07:45

Hi @Cindy974 happy birthday for tomorrow - it’s my birthday next week too! Kind of hoping this person wants to come before my birthday...but we’ll see! The decision doesn’t seem up to me Grin

@MummaBear4321 That sounds positive ., I’m getting the mildest of cramps lying in bed this morning, I’m almost enjoying the sensations as it’s so nice to finally feel some changes. I’ve done ALL the hypnobirthing practice to get me in a super positive mindset, and it feels great Star

Sending positivity and happy vibes to everyone on this thread!

Hi @Emelene that’s great to hear you’re feeling some mild contractions too

You’re a hero doing this without family support, it’s not easy! but it sounds like you’re super capable and confident Star

I'm 40 weeks too. Very keen to have this baby now!
AlviesMam · 05/11/2020 20:37

Mucus plug went today. No other signs yet x

WaveStreet · 05/11/2020 22:45

@Gerdticker how are you doing?

Gerdticker · 05/11/2020 22:52

@WaveStreet still good but absolutely no changes Grin .... although when I had DC1 I never saw my mucus plug and waters. Didn’t break until she was born.

@AlviesMam hurray some progress Smile

Is anyone else ignoring the enquiring texts from friends? or just me Grin
I deliberately didn’t tell anyone my EDD because it drove me mad last time that people actually think it means you have your baby on that day, and hassle you relentlessly!

I just told people ‘early November’ ...so I guess they are being kind and thoughtful - I just hate being watched. I swear at my phone each time one pings through...I’ve told DH to reply to a couple and explain to them that I’m not looking at my phone (bit of a lie... here I am on mumsnet Grin

‘A watched pot never boils’ right?! Grin

Cindy974 · 06/11/2020 02:44

Yes! I just keep getting the same text off everyone... “Any signs yet?” And everyone is giving me the same advice of hot curry, sex etc etc. Ive been trying all that for a week Grin

Monkeyseesmonkeydoesnt · 06/11/2020 10:25

Hi folks.

Im 40+6 with my second baby. 1st was 4 days early...

I had a sweep on Tuesday and was 2cm and 50% effaced, lost my plug but no sign of baby making an exit yet.

Really struggling with round ligament pain and feeling very very impatient!

Gerdticker · 06/11/2020 16:58

@MummaBear4321 how are you getting on, did all the cleaning help a bit :)

OP posts:
Emelene · 07/11/2020 05:08

How is everyone getting on? Smile I'm 40+2 now, had a false alarm the other night with back pain/ period type cramp but all fizzled. Also had an episode of reduced foetal movement yesterday but all checked and okay. I'm hoping for another homebirth as I had a great experience with my first.

I can't sleep at the minute though! Trying to rest and relax anyway...

MummaBear4321 · 07/11/2020 11:50

Yes! The cleaning definitely helped. My little girl was born at 9:35pm on Thursday 5th of November weighing 7lbs 15oz. It was a very short labour compared to my marathon first, only 5 hours of established labour. I also got my all natural water birth that I wanted. It was intense, but amazing. We are home now settling into life of a family of 4 and a dog 😊
