The other night my DP's family was having a party, but I was finishing work late so I went to my mum's to get reasdy and go with my family. When I got to mums I kept being sick and had to stay home alone. My DP was ringing every two mins to check on me and on the third time I answered the phone in floods of tears.
When he asked why I said I didn't know.
So he kept asking.
Eventually I admitted that there was a lovely dwarf on Deal or No Deal with big blue innocent eyes and I imagined that he must have had a hard life with a lot of stick and that was it, I was away. I cried for an hour and a half altho the reason changed about 6 times.
He told all my family at the party and asked them not to tell me incase it set me off again. Of course the first thing they went on about when they got in was me crying over a dwarf with a hard life.

12 weeks today

I well up every day at the start of In The Night Garden when the child is going to sleep and the parent is stroking their hand round & round....I'm getting a lump in my throat now just thinking about it.

becklespookle · 18/10/2007 20:15

Spugs interesting theory about crying, I was not at all emotional while pg with my DSs but this time I am a gibbering wreck and completely at the mercy of my hormones - is not certain but they thought baby might be a girl at the scan...

I welled up the other day when DS2s nursery teacher said he was doing really well.

When DH gave me a hug and patted my bump (he is not usually a bump-toucher).

When the music starts for In The Night Garden.

Anything remotely emotional happens on TV.

I spilt some water on the floor.

Shall I go on?

Piluncha · 18/10/2007 20:31

I'm not pregnant now but with my 2 DD's have been shedding tears all round.

I agree with some of the tv ads, or programms or one that I remember was that I'd run out of ice-cream and didn't have it in the shop (being 10pm being the local garage and not exactly full of choice!)

But don't worry, IT STILL PERSISTS!!! at the most tiny thing I'll burst into tears and try to hide it from my DD1 (2) as she gets worried when she sees me crying and comes and cuddles me which sets me off again!!!

bluebell82 · 19/10/2007 09:36

condensation- I can not bring myself to say anymore!!

systemsaddict · 19/10/2007 10:37

Ds 14 months has invented a sign for 'in the night garden' - he does the circling palm thing on his own hand - that + the music - or especially the poem - and I'm gone every time.

Reading 'Guess How Much I Love You' to ds, when Big Nutbrown Hare puts Little Nutbrown Hare down to sleep in his bed of leaves at the end and stays close to look after him, and he sleeps with his arms flung up above his head like a baby.

Crying (uncontrollably) at X-factor was one of my first pg symptoms. Glad I'm not alone!!

Reading Mumsnet - I am addicted to reading Threads I Shouldn't Be Looking At Right Now and sobbing every evening.

Nearly broke down this morning after entirely normal morning getting ds ready for nursery and me ready for work, because it is SO UNFAIR that dp doesn't do his bit. [stamps foot] AND he hasn't called to apologise yet, though am expecting him to later

I did not get this last time!! Am convinced it's a girl. (only 8 1/2 weeks gone)

bloodsuckingLOONEY · 19/10/2007 10:46

X Factor did it for me too!!! I only got my BFP on Tuesday yet been crying a lot of couple of weeks already!!! Oh....last night.....cried because...wait for it....I couldn't find the skewers straight away to put through jacket potatoes - WTF is that all about!!! (I knew I had a couple in sink but didn't want to have to wash them! )

Upsidedowncake · 19/10/2007 14:12

Guess how much I love you / Big nutbrown hare gets me when when I'm not pregnant.

I realised I was pregnant before I did a test after I cried for half an hour about 'The dying Cubs fan last request'.

It's a song from Chicago (dh is from there) about a baseball fan. He's dying and the Cubs never win. But the thing that I just found out is the fact that the guy who wrote the song died from leukaemia soon after the song was written.

Sorry. I hope this doesn't send any of you off. Am in floods writing this.

bloodsuckingLOONEY · 19/10/2007 14:20
  • you cow, i'm off on the next school run in 10 mins and you're making me look a mess!!!

Hey....I'm getting a little puzzled because I've been very tearful for SEVERAL weeks now, worse in the last couple but certainly went on before my last period. What if my last period wasn't a period??? I had this with the pg I mc, was further gone than I realised. Oh well....Dr's on Monday and I'm going to BEG for a dating scan as cycles were a week apart plus the periods were VERY light.

Off to clean face!

Upsidedowncake · 19/10/2007 14:30

Sorry Looney.

If you haven't washed your face yet, here are the words

Great that you're getting a dating scan. I remember from before that everything was a bit all over the place for you. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

bloodsuckingLOONEY · 19/10/2007 15:15

Hey you.......you aint setting me off again - I refused to look!! Maybe when the mindees have gone home I might I'm in a good mood (despite feeling sick and having a horrible dry metal mouth).......NO MINDEES NEXT WEEK I will miss them of course as they are my extended family but it will be lovely to have a week, just me and ds!! And also I can rest a lot more!

Oh....and I've not got a dating scan, just a Dr's appointment but I'm so going to beg for one as I have no idea really when I'm due, bit confused.

bigcurlyred · 19/10/2007 15:32

Driving to work at about 5 months pregnant, I found myself sobbing to a song on the radio - the song? Belinda Carlisle and 'Ooooo Heaven is a place on earth', which is not really known for it's tear-jerking qualities, was crying so hard thought I might have to pull over....

Upsidedowncake · 19/10/2007 18:00

Oops Looney. do you know how I read your message about the dating scan. 'I'm going to BEG for a dating scan' ... I decided 'beg' must be one of those funny acronyms I don't know about ...

Pregnancy brain? I'm so embarrassed.

Anyway good luck with it all.

Earlier I read this thread. started off crying with laughter. Then it just turned into a good old sob!

dylansluckymum · 19/10/2007 19:52

reading this made me sob through slightly hysterical laughter... the laughter coming because of the recognition of so much of it! mnd you even when i'm not pregnant i cry all the time anyway, just not so hysterically! i read a few to dp through tears and if he didn't think i was a nutcase before he definitely does now!

fluffy animal i completely understand the dumbo thing, i think it's the harshest disney film and it always makes me have a breakdown!

bogie · 19/10/2007 20:08

I cried my self to sleep when i was pg because pizza hut was closed and i wanted a cheese pizza from pizza hut, when dp told me dominos was open i was crying even more saying its just not the same i don't want dominos?? Worst thing was all his friend were round and they were just looking at me gone out.

Bodkin · 19/10/2007 20:20

Oh good, it's not just me welling up at the beginning of ITNG then.... mind you, I'm not pregnant, so really have no excuse...

PigeonPie · 19/10/2007 20:20

I was reading DS 'Sophie and the New Baby' this morning and that would have set me off if I hadn't skipped a bit! Nearly welled up again at 'The Blue Balloon' this evening - I really feel a whimp at the moment

Botbot · 19/10/2007 20:24

Not pregnant but I've just shed a (happy) tear at the YouTube link on this thread.

bloodsuckingLOONEY · 20/10/2007 07:50

Upsidedowncake - don't worry, I totally understand the pregnancy brain - I can no longer spell like I could and read things totally wrong too so don't worry! Have opened that link and will have a look in a bit.

Botbot - I'd already seen it but it's FAB isn't it. Was going to post it on chat myself but never got round to it. So funny!

Hey.....I did manage to hold my tears back in the school playground yesterday! I'd just dropped ds at nursery. A lady I didn't know (but seen around) said to me 'oh, you managed to get rid of one then', I explained that I was a childminder and that I have this baby 2 days and other baby and sister the other days (lots of people get confused) and then she said 'oh, I've always admired you when I've seen you as you always have all these kiddies and look so together' Very lovely I thought and I was quite choked but THANK GOD I didn't burst into tears - you imagine - she'd have thought WTF was that all about! lol

iris66 · 20/10/2007 08:14

at 18wks pg - not being able to find any fizzy vimto in the supermarket and trying to hide the fact that I was almost convulsingly sobbing
now 37wks pg - reading this thread

spugs · 20/10/2007 09:12

im nearly 18 weeks and had my first pregnancy melt down this week because i made about 3 mistakes when i was filling in the baby book. amazed i managed to make it this far with out having a hissy fit

e14mum · 21/10/2007 16:29

Yesterday I started crying because, as I told DH through the tears, I don't like tea made in a cup- only tea made in a pot!
(20 weeks today)

PigeonPie · 21/10/2007 22:20

Well, I feel better 'cos DH was reading 'Sophie and the New Baby' to DS today and he nearly welled up too, so it's not just me .

VeronicaMars · 21/10/2007 22:24

When I was pregnant I cried for two hours over Nana Moon on Eastenders dying.

moaningminnie2020 · 21/10/2007 23:02

There's a radio advert for blood donation with Gabby Logan saying that without blood donors, her twins might not have a mum...could hardly see where I was driving for welling up - not PG but have a 7mo DD.

chipmonkeyPumpkinNorks · 21/10/2007 23:57

Even thinking about certain songs sets me off, I dont' have to hear them on the radio or anything!
