Would this be worth going to A+E for or would you leave it and wait and see? I have really unbearable pain in the tip of my right shoulder that has come on suddenly this afternoon and got worse. It's not a strain, it's a really sharp pain.

Pregnancy symptoms such as sore boobs and occasional naesous. Wwyd?

You need to go to A&E immediately. Is there someone that can drive you there?

zenasfuck · 01/09/2020 19:34

A&E ASAP. Ambulance if you have no transport

SylvanianFrenemies · 01/09/2020 19:34

Sorry, yes, please go to A&E. I hope you are ok.

littlegold · 01/09/2020 19:35

Hi OP, sorry to hear you're experiencing a lot of pain :(
I know that shoulder tip pain can be related to an ectopic so I'd suggest getting yourself checked out tonight.
Fingers crossed for you

ShalomToYouJackie · 01/09/2020 19:46

Ambulance on its way :(

Take care of yourself, I hope it is a false alarm but if it's not then it's good that you're being taken seriously.

Take some things for if you're kept in. Loose clothes, nightie, phone charger, toiletries and towel. Better to take too much than nothing, and it's easier to deal with things with home comforts around you.

ShalomToYouJackie · 01/09/2020 19:55

DP has packed an overnight bag for me. Already had a laparoscopy to remove tube last year but it was a false alarm. That was because my HCG was high but they couldn't find the pregnancy but it was a blighted ovum.

This pain was really sudden and is really hard to not think about, it's so painful. No cramps at all though

I hope everything is ok OP, you're doing the right thing getting checked out Flowers

pooopypants · 01/09/2020 19:59

You're absolutely doing the right thing OP, I had some slight shoulder pain and lost a tube to an ectopic pregnancy

Hugs for you, I hope all is well Flowers

ShalomToYouJackie · 01/09/2020 20:01

I've started having a weird stabbing pain in the right of my stomach close to my pelvic bone. Do I ring them back? They said to ring back if anything changes but they might be here soon anyway

OP posts:
ShalomToYouJackie · 01/09/2020 20:03

@pooopypants I'm really sorry ♥️ did you have any other symptoms or just the shoulder tip pain?

OP posts:
Parkandride · 01/09/2020 20:05

I would do as they say and call them. The shoulder pain is a late symptom I believe so you want to be seen as soon as possible x

MrsB2019x · 01/09/2020 20:25

@ShalomToYouJackie Glad you’re getting checked out, it’s the best place to be. I had pains in the place you mentioned with my ectopic, it felt like someone had their thumb there and was putting all their weight on it. Will be thinking of you, best of luck Flowers

ShalomToYouJackie · 01/09/2020 20:54

@MrsB2019x I'm so sorry you've experienced an ectopic.

I'm in majors in A+E and the kindest nurse came in and crouched down and held my hand whilst I cried. It really sucks that DP can't be here :(

Waiting to be moved to gynaecology and will keep you updated.

Thanks everyone for telling me to get to A+E

BabyG123 · 01/09/2020 22:31

I hope all works out ok. I couldn't read and run.

MrsB2019x · 01/09/2020 22:36

It’s awful isn’t it @ShalomToYouJackie. I was dealing with it okay until a doctor came in and said “I’m so sorry, I hate delivering bad news to ladies when they can’t have anyone with them” and it was about then that I lost it!

Glad you’re being looked after, please take care 💙

Grumpy19 · 01/09/2020 22:41

Hope you're ok OP Flowers

ShalomToYouJackie · 02/09/2020 05:52

Just an update, been here since about 8:30pm and saw the gynaecology Dr around 1am (there was only one available who was also covering other departments).

She got me a bed on the gynaecology ward in a side room and said she was going to come and scan me and then get a better scan done at EPAU in the morning but I've not seen her since, I think I've been forgotten about!

The (hopefully) good news is my shoulder tip pain has gone down, it's still there but much less obvious so I guess we will see what the scan shows

MrsB2019x · 02/09/2020 08:22

@ShalomToYouJackie Glad you’re feeling a bit better, what a long night for you! Good luck for the scan this morning xx

Hogglebear · 02/09/2020 10:43

@ShalomToYouJackie I stumbled across your post last night and have been checking back to see how you are. Great to hear your pain has eased off a bit. I really hope you get some answers soon and that all turns out to be okay. Xx

MrsB2019x · 02/09/2020 13:21

How are you doing @ShalomToYouJackie? Been thinking of you x

ivfbeenbusy · 02/09/2020 13:49

Whilst shoulder tip pain is one symptom of an ectopic it isn't the main symptom - shoulder pain is caused by internal bleeding reaching the diaphragm and is the last symptom you get before generally collapsing

I've had two ectopics and both ruptured and lost both tubes - trust me the pain of rupture is horrendous and you definitely know about it well before it gets to the shoulder pain point

OP - I hope your scan goes ok and that it's not ectopic

I'm very surprised they didn't scan you straight away - when my ectopic ruptured last year I was taken in via ambulance and scanned straight away in a&e and then straight into surgery so I suspect they don't think Its ectopic as they would have needed to operate already as it's not something they can just wait to do and if you had internal bleeding you would have worsening symptoms - collapse unconsciousness etc

2020wish · 02/09/2020 15:44

Any update @ShalomToYouJackie

ShalomToYouJackie · 02/09/2020 17:43

Hi everyone,

Thank you for your kind messages. I've just got home! I had a ultrasound scan and there's a sac where it should be and they can't see what is causing me any pain so I'm none the wiser but extremely relieved it's not ectopic.

I didn't think it was as I wasn't having any bleeding or cramping but I was really scared nonetheless. I have another scan in a week to make sure things are progressing as I had a blighted ovum last year so they offered to scan again.

I'm still having this weird shoulder tip pain in my bone though 😕 I feel like an idiot for wasting their time but I really thought something was wrong initially

U are 100% not an idiot for wasting anyone’s time. I am a critical care nurse and you are better being safe than sorry! The emergency services are there for a reason and u had good reason to be concerned. I am so happy for u that it wasn’t etopic and every thing is looking well. Fingers crossed ur next scan shows progression x
