So I have hardly bought any mat clothes my entire pregnancy (didn't see the point with WFH and not going out anywhere).

A family birthday is coming up next week, plans were cancelled with covid, but its just been sprung on me that plans are reinstated and now I need to find a nice dress to wear as we're going somewhere relatively posh ish.
I have nothing to wear and 33w pregnant!

Help! I don't want to spend more than £50, size 8-10 pre-pregnancy, need something knee length (not mini dress or tunic style) and light weight in case of hot weather!

Please share any suggestions or links and help me find a dress!

Maxi dresses are always good as can be dressed up and down, I had a nice one for a christening from Sainsbury's, I just bought a non maternity one in the next size up to allow for boobs, nice and cool. I know you said knee length, but worth checking out the maxi.

Get yourself to the seraphine website

BumbleNova · 12/08/2020 12:25

Yup - seraphine. they have a sale too atm.

Mollymarvelous70 · 12/08/2020 12:27

ASOS . Cheap and easy returns policy . Buy a few to try .

peachypetite · 12/08/2020 12:30

Personally I’ve had awful asos maternity orders and given up. Quality was awful, most of it so creased I didn’t even bother trying on and bizarre sizing.

LASandOtto · 12/08/2020 12:34

Agree ASOS has been rubbish.

H&M have a maternity range and sale. New look also has some nice dresses.

lockdownpregnancy · 12/08/2020 12:35

I bought this dress for my baby shower from ASOS it's really lovely and a bargain as it's in the sale! It was about £60 reduced to £18 I think? Maybe cheaper!

Just seen the screen shot has the price on! 😂🤪

mnahmnah · 12/08/2020 12:40

eBay is brilliant for decent quality maternity dresses, because obviously they may only get worn once for a special occasion

AudHvamm · 12/08/2020 13:36

Mamalicious organic cotton t-shirt dress is knee-length, very lightweight cotton jersey but feels good quality. Black. Can be dressed up easily with shoes, jewellery and an open/kimono-style cardigan/wrap

Cost £18. I think I got mine through ASOS. I love it and would wear it every day if I didn’t have to wash it!

I was a size 8 pre pregnancy and the small is as good a fit now at 34 weeks as it was when I bought it at 20-something wks.

Margo34 · 12/08/2020 14:41

I have looked on eBay but there's no guarantee a dress would arrive on time even if I did win the auction (I have tried and been pipped to the post on a couple already) 🙈

I'll skip over ASOS on your advices!

Seraphine - what are their sizes like? I'm a size 8 in DP tops, size 10 in Next and 8 or 10 in Newlook, but have even been a size 16 in H&M before and a size 6 warehouse/oasis all on the same day (all pre pregnancy)!

Also, maxi dresses had totally slipped my baby brain head, thanks @annlee3817

Yea ASOS can be hit and miss. I like the Russian roulette of not knowing if I’ll find something perfect or look like a bag of shit 😬

peachypetite · 12/08/2020 15:13

@Margo34 I’m sure a small in seraphine would be fine for you. Or order a couple of sizes and send back if you’re limited for time.

Margo34 · 12/08/2020 15:23

Thanks @peachypetite, good idea.

I like this one but it looks short in some of the pics www.seraphine.com/en-gb/navy-floral-wrap-maternity-dress/

Just to say careful a maxi isn't too long - you won't see your feet and you won't know if you're about to trip up until it's too late!

Next so next day delivery and have some nice dresses that are reasonably priced

otterbaby · 12/08/2020 15:35

Mamalicious has loads of nice dresses and I recently bought one in next so that work better if you need to order and try something on quickly.

mnahmnah · 12/08/2020 15:35
  • do next day delivery!
Cobbsgirl92 · 12/08/2020 15:36

Jojo mama Bebe have a sale on at the moment. I got a dress a few days a go in the sale. Originally £40 and I paid £11. Great quality too!
Or H&M is worth looking at.
I also got a nice dress in Next Maternity, they have a clearance sale on the website with lots of maternity things in for great prices.
I hope you find something!

Margo34 · 12/08/2020 17:08

I've just looked on Next and the only mat dresses in stock in my size are long sleeves autumn-esque, same with the few on Jojo Maman. Arghhhh!

Have you tried New Look? I remember their maternity range being nice

Chocforthewin · 12/08/2020 18:01

I'm pregnant atm & have ordered a few things from Boohoo as they're cheap (and cheerful) & have been fine to wear during 3rd trimester. Haven't really liked maternity clothing, so have just gone up a size in normal clothing & they have fit fine. It might not be your style but they have this in size 12 on there at the min' OP 👗💛

Please help me find a dress!
Margo34 · 12/08/2020 18:52

Thank you I'll have a look.
Has anyone ordered any mat wear (or otherwise) from Silkfred.com?
