Hello

I have 9 weeks to go and thinking of girl names! Hannah is the one we seem to agree on! We don’t really want anything too popular or common at all. What do you all think on name Hannah is it nice? From Uk Scotland. Thanks

I've got a 17 year old Hannah. There was one other Hannah in her primary school and another in secondary so not that common. Obviously I like it. I think she does too.

Shouldbedancingyeah · 11/08/2020 00:21

All of the Hannah’s I know are between 19 and 23.
I’m not sure if it’s popular for babies now but it certainly was in the 90s/early 00s!

UmmH · 11/08/2020 00:24

It's nice, easy to spell and pronounce. I only know two Hannahs. I think there was one Hannah in my whole school, so though everyone's heard of the name it seems that it isn't super common.

jessstan2 · 11/08/2020 00:56

Hannah is a lovely name. Go for it.

Bouledeneige · 11/08/2020 00:59

No. Sorry

alexdgr8 · 11/08/2020 01:13

at last ! somebody suggesting a good classic name, rather than something akin to tinkly-winkly, because it sounds pretty, and they'll be the only one. indeed.
Hannah is good. you can't go wrong with biblical names. and it's easier thn hepzibah. good choice. may she flourish as the green bay tree.

Redbirds · 11/08/2020 01:13

Yes it's a lovely name.

mandy29xx · 11/08/2020 01:36

Thanks everyone I think we will definitely go for it !!

Ohhh yes you can
Goliath
Methuselah
Lucifer
Jezebel
Bathsheba
Judas

Anyway, OP I think Hannah is a nice name and probably unusual amongst babies and young children. It is currently in the top 100 baby names (around 60) but in the past was consistently un the top 10. I am 29 and know a LOT of Hannah's my age. Off the top of my head I can think of 9 women my age called Hannah who I know. Far more than any other single name.

DramaAlpaca · 11/08/2020 01:55

It's fine, not very exciting but that's a good thing. If you love it, go for it.

EmmaGrundyForPM · 11/08/2020 01:59

My ds is 23 and it was really popular when he was born. I know lots of Hannahs in their early 20s.

My niece is called Hannah. She is 16.

It's a nice name. Personally I prefer Anna which I think is a bit more unusual.

Oncemorewithfeelin · 11/08/2020 02:05

I don’t know loads with the name Hannah but I do know a few( age mid 60s, 30s and under 10s)
It’s one of my daughters middle names.

You may be subjecting your child to years of ‘ no Hannah, with an H!’ But that’s not the end of the world

ElizabethMainwaring · 11/08/2020 02:06

I'm a Hannah and I'm late 40's.
When I was a young child it was really unusual and noone could spell it.
I had to explain its origins to a Jehovah's witness once, of all people.
Then when I was in my late teens-early 20s there was a veritable explosion of Hannahs.
I still really like my name, but I preferred it when it was very unusual.

Goodoldfashionedploverboy · 11/08/2020 02:09

It’s a lovely name. There are at least 3 lovely Hannahs in my life (aged 19, 36 and 40). And it’s a perfect palindrome too!

MrsSkr · 11/08/2020 05:21

My wee girl is Hannah, she's 3. I love it, classic, 'normal' name but still beautiful and I think fairly unpopular still. I do know a few but in comparison to alot of names these days its not alot. My gran is also Hannah, she's in her 80s, which i like as it shows the name travels with them through life really well. I also know 1 other girl under 5. I love it, my wee girl loves it and I have only ever had lovely comments on it. Go for it! xx

MissHoney85 · 11/08/2020 05:51

I'm a primary school teacher in SW London, I've had maybe 3 Hannahs over 9 years. I like it, classic but not overused.

cariadlet · 11/08/2020 05:57

I think it's a lovely name.

I'm also a primary school teacher. At one time, I would often have a Hannah in my class but I haven't come across the name for quite a few years now.

I'd say that it's reached the stage where it's become unusual but isn't dated.

Blackbear19 · 11/08/2020 06:12

My DS1 would have been a Hannah.

Indoctro · 11/08/2020 06:35

There is a Hannah in my 5 year olds class.

FusionChefGeoff · 11/08/2020 06:43

I have a Hannah Smile

It's also very easy to cut out the letters from fondant icing for birthday cakes GrinGrin

Snaleandthewhail · 11/08/2020 06:45

I love Hannah, but I had boys...

Bonkersblond · 11/08/2020 06:45

I like it and a friend of mine has a 5 year old Hannah.

Wurlysurly · 11/08/2020 06:49

My daughter is Hannah and she is only 2. I know of 1 other around her age. I think it's a beautiful classic nameSmile

Flamingolingo · 11/08/2020 06:56

One of my besties is a Hannah (mid 30s). There were also a couple of Hannahs at school (at lest I’m sure there were more than one, but I can only actually remember one because she was a right cow). I don’t think I know of any Hannahs who are currently young children.

I think it’s a name that most people will recognise and be able to cope with (spelling and pronunciation), and I really like it. Go for it!

Aridane · 11/08/2020 06:58

I love the name!
