10 weeks pregnant tomorrow and had brown discharge today

Hi there I'm 10 weeks pregnant tomorrow and I've had brown discharge today! My stomach is quite sore also. I called early pregnant unit but they can't do anything! I had a miscarriage in March I'm so scared it's happening again.

I had a scan at what I thought was 8 weeks but turned out I was only measuring 6.5 weeks. I seen the babies heartbeat then and they said baby looks fine.

I'm so worried my scan isn't until the 3rd August. Should I book an early private scan just to clear my head? I feel like I'm on my period that's the only way I can describe the feeling.

@sav1233
Yeah good to hear possible reasons of why I’m cramping etc however my bleeding has went from brown this morning to more watery red/pink so really feel like I’m clutching at straws.

I believe we are both feeling extremely anxious and preparing for the worst 🥺

My scan is at 10am tomorrow. What about you? Xx

@MNGal1987 definitely it's a horrible thought isn't it? I'm glad I've already seen the baby's heartbeat so tomorrow I should know for sure what's going on! I'm so scared I wish I could take my belly off and give them it to scan and just tell me the results after! Mines isn't until 12.45 🤦🏻‍♀️ such a horrible time I tried to book 10 but was sold out when I went to book!

Good luck in the morning and please keep me posted after 🤞🏼🤞🏼 xxx

@sav1233 yes I’m half the day positive and then half the day negative. Such a horrible mindset. I hope for both of us tomorrow will provide us with the answers we crave.

I was surprised that the early time slot was still available so you have my sympathy that you’ve got the morning to get through before you can get scanned.

Yes I will update regardless of the outcome 😔

Good luck tomorrow and hopefully you’ll come back with a positive outcome 🤞🤞 Xx

Hi, I just wanted to say that I had this occur numerous times throughout my pregnancy last year. In the beginning I would panic so much I spent a fortune on private scans, but each time baby was fine. I had a scan and internal check done at the hospital too, but again no cause could be found. Fingers crossed for you tomorrow, I really hope everything turns out to be okay.

I had brown bleeding at 15 weeks when I was expecting ds, EPU wouldn't even let me through their doors despite GP sending me. I had to spend a week of hell until my next MW appointment where she let me hear the heartbeat.

I had this, it even showed in my scan I had more to come but then it appeared to have just dissolved itself in the next scan

At 12w on the dot I started with brown bleeding. I was so upset and anxious. Eventually got a scan in hospital which showed all seemed well and had my official scan a week later, again was fine. It lasted for over a week, then had a couple of days respite then started again. I later read somewhere that it's really common and it's just your womb getting rid of the stuff it doesn't need. Sorry not sure how true that is, but I also don't think you need to worry unless the blood is bright red. Fingers crossed for you xx

Try not to worry OP although it's hard. I had a bleed at 8 weeks - only a small one. When I wiped it was pink/red like when you start your period. EPAC showed everything was fine and it was just a small bleed, which a scan also showed. Then at 10 weeks I wiped and it was browny discharge. Like you I cried my eyes out and ended back at the hospital (a Saturday night so no way I could have been scanned etc) had bloods and an internal done and the doctor said everything seemed normal and it could just be old blood. Had a scan and the bleed site had gone completely and was seen by EPAC again the following week and they said the brown discharge was likely to be old blood from the first bleed.

Try not to worry but please contact your MW for reassurance

Also like @Chickoletta has said, I too was told to mention pain in order to be scanned.

It is dishonest and when I first heard it I was gobsmacked but when it was a choice between a scan or no scan, it was an easy choice to make

Sorry to jump on the post I'm new to this and don't know how it works
I'm 6 weeks atm
And when I go the toilet for a wee and wipe I have stringy brown discharge which I have had for about a week now
I spoke to the midwife but she didn't seem to bothered it's not on a pad just when I wipe and I really don't know what's going on
The worrying is driving me crazy now
I am a mum of 3
1 who is 15
1 who is 2 and my youngest is 1 this month
I am so worried I don't know what to do
I had a scan done which it showed I was about 4 weeks at the time so baby was so tiny

10 weeks pregnant tomorrow and had brown discharge today

@sav1233 @jazmynj
Sadly I received the news that I expected ever since cramping started on Wednesday - my instinct was correct; especially since my blood went from brown to red.

I’m gutted 😭 I’m taking comfort in knowing that my little bean wasn’t meant to be, Mother Nature predicted that something was wrong so thankfully I found out sooner than later.

Sonographer was lovely. Said that because I’ve already had one successful healthy pregnancy it’s highly unlikely I’ll suffer a miscarriage next time.

I had the next 9+ months all planned out, deciding on a nursery scheme and picking our favourite name. The next few days will not be easy but thankfully I have my beautiful DD to keep me occupied.

Hold on to those precious bumps and enjoy each healthy pregnancy day 😌 Xx

@sav1233 I have everything crossed for you to receive better news 🤞
@jazmynj Easy to say but brown discharge is old blood and with no cramps I’m sure everything will be good 😌

So sorry @MNGal1987. I went through this with my last pregnancy and am now expecting again 3 months later. There is a post pinned in Body and Soul called Coping With the Practicalities of Moscarriage, which I found really helpful.

@Chickoletta thank you I’ll probably head over to that board soon 😌 And congratulations with your current pregnancy 😊 Was your miscarriage missed or did you have suspicions?
My fiancé is back home until September/October so hopefully by then I know I’ll have recovered physically (emotionally?🤔) so we can try again for a sibling for our daughter. Does your current pregnancy feel different to when you were pregnant which resulted in miscarriage?
I had a weird instinct from the start that something was going to go wrong.

@sav1233 Oh my 40 minutes late! The wait must be so annoying.
I got my NHS appointment moved from Wednesday to tomorrow so they’ll check like they did today and I’m sure discussions will be had about what happens next.

I went to the loo not long after my scan and I’m pretty sure I passed the foetus 😭 I was told this would happen but actually experiencing it and seeing it was something I wasn’t prepared for 😢 I’m sure that’ll be confirmed tomorrow. At the moment it feels like a really heavy period with clots. Sorry if that’s tmi but I’m just being honest.

I really hope you have a good outcome, no-one should feel this shit after having a few weeks of blissful happiness imagining life with a new baby xx🤞🤞

@sav1233 Ohhh I’m so so sorry to read that 😢 I was really hoping the odds would be with you and you’d get the good news we all want.
Do you think the hospital will ring tomorrow? I hope you have support at home? I’m thinking of you xxx

Well the lady that done my scan said hopefully it will be today. All my bleeding has stopped! I've had nothing all day! I wish now it would happen. Xx

@sav1233 - so sorry. I’ve been where you are and know how desperately sad it is. All I can tell you is that for me, the miscarriage itself was not as bad as I feared. I had hardly any pain at all. As I said earlier, there is a great post on the Body and Soul board called Coping With The Practicalities of Miscarriage.

@MNGal1987 - mine was a MMC. We suspected at 10 weeks as DH (a vet specialising in cattle reproduction) scanned me at home, as we’d done very happily with both previous pregnancies, and couldn’t see what he was expecting to see. This was on the evening of Easter Saturday and it was an absolute nightmare trying to get a hospital scan done due to bank holidays, CV and all. They eventually saw me the following Weds and confirmed that it was twins but they had stopped developing very early. I was told I had to wait a fortnight before they could do any medical intervention. In the end, I miscarried naturally the following week and by the time I went back for the appointment, it was all over.

My periods returned 33 days after the start of the miscarriage and I had a normal cycle after that, this is the third cycle and I’ve just got a BFP. I suspect it might be twins again as I got a very strong line at 10dpo.

It was a very dark time for me (and also quite surreal in the midst of lockdown as my family were all around me whilst it was happening and I even carried on working remotely) but I can honestly say that I felt physically normal again within a month and, although I’m still sad about it, emotionally fine again now at 3 months.

Look after yourselves, ladies. Feel free to PM me if I can help at all. Thinking of you.

@Chickoletta thanks for ur message, I also had a miscarriage in March. After 4 weeks after my first bleed I still hadn't passed so I had to get a little help and got kept in hospital and was given tablets to bring it on! I'm hoping I can pass this time naturally as that was An awful experience! I was so sore! The whole of my body was cramping even my legs! So hoping this time will be nice and fast at home. I have 2 girls already 8 & 5 so for there sake aswell they need me at home. Xxx
