Has anybody had sudden vision loss?
It's never happened to me before.

I'm currently hydrated and I've eaten breakfast, lunch and a snack today so I can't see it being blood sugar.

At the minute I have w constant swirl/wavey spot in my peripheral vision and when I try to focus it takes over essential half my vision, to the extent I can't read my phone/see w full picture. For example, my kitchen sink seems to be missing a bit in the middle.

I can type as I have an idea where my letters are but I can't read this back to see if it makes sense so sorry if it doesn't.

Is this worth phoning triage? I don't want to phone up and it be nothing, but I'm also scared of what it could be.

I had PE at 25weeks, The only symptons I had were high BP, High Protein in urine , hands and feet swelling BUT the consultant was adamant I was lying about having no headaches/eyesight affected by "black dots".
I had none of the latter.
Its def worth speaking to midwife.

(My Daughter was delivered at 27 weeks, nearly 17 & Perfect)

Hope you feel better Soon?

JacobReesMogadishu · 29/06/2020 17:31

Hope you’ve seen your GP by now.

elf81 · 29/06/2020 19:02

Hi, I hope everything is OK? Did you manage to talk to your GP?

Beau2020 · 29/06/2020 19:05

Following! I'm 35 weeks and I had this 2 days ago and again today. I hope it's nothing too serious 🥺

Beau2020 · 29/06/2020 19:09

OP I'm getting the exact same symptoms as you right now and this post has worried me a bit. I have really painful fingers at the tips and my vision keeps disappearing like blind spots. I'm also being sick.

BadAlice · 29/06/2020 19:13

@Beau2020 Triage. Now. A&E if it’s taking you too long to get through.

SecretWitch · 29/06/2020 19:18

I’m thinking about you, op. That midwife and your husband are idiots. Please get medical help ASAP. 💐

Beau2020 · 29/06/2020 19:21

@badalice I just checked my blood pressure and it's within normal range

BadAlice · 29/06/2020 19:24

@Beau2020 When was your BP machine last calibrated? Unless you have previously suffered from migraines and have had these symptoms before, it still needs investigating.

Northernsoul90 · 29/06/2020 19:26

Hi all, I saw this thread and felt I had to comment. Loss of vision and bad headaches should be taken very seriously in pregnancy. As others have said they could indicate pre eclampsia, this was a condition I never realised could be so serious until last year when at 35 weeks pregnant my sister started fitting. She was taken to hospital by ambulance, she had a cardiac arrest in the ambulance and her heart stopped for 7 minutes. Baby was delivered (whilst sister was unconscious) and had to also be resuscitated. She was then placed in an induced coma and baby taken to NICU. By some miracle, and thanks to the amazing medics, they both survived and made a full recovery's. This was eclampsia which had progressed from pre eclampsia which had gone undiagnosed. Her first symptoms were headaches and vomiting. This post is not intended to scare anyone but please if you have got blurry vision etc you MUST be seen by somebody. Pre eclampsia that is left untreated is life threatening to mother and baby.

Idiot midwife, your bp could be through the roof. My friends preeclampsia started very similar, she was sick too and needed an emergency crash section in the end. Your dh needs to read up on PE and start standing up for you, you'll need him to in labour!

User8008135 · 29/06/2020 19:28

@Beau2020 have you called labour ward? Best to do so

Celibacydidntwork · 29/06/2020 19:34

I can’t believe you still haven’t been to hospital. You must go. Please listen to all the people on here, I hope your baby is ok.

Northernsoul90 · 29/06/2020 19:37

@Beau2020 please read my above post and go and get checked out you’ve nothing to lose from going to the hospital - if it turns out to be nothing that’s great but if it is something more serious it will need treating xxx

endofthelinefinally · 29/06/2020 19:47

Just read your OP.
You must go to either A&E or your obstetric assessment unit asap.

Beau2020 · 29/06/2020 19:50

Thanks everyone! Triage have said I'm okay and that the blurry vision is not pregnancy related also. Finger pain could be Carpal Tunnel Syndrome but I've only been recommended to take paracetamol for that

skylarkdescending · 29/06/2020 20:03

OP have they taken any blood from you? I had similar symptoms late on in pregnancy and went to Maternity Assessment a few time to be checked over. I had very low iron levels and they thought that was causing the dizziness etc. They prescribed liquid iron and were going to top up intravenously but I went into labour early anyway.

Looking back I was very swollen and pretty sure it was the start of pre-eclampsia.

joannew4 · 30/06/2020 09:05

Hope you got sorted yesterday OP and either got the treatment or reassurance you needed.

TheGoldenApplesOfTheSun · 30/06/2020 12:01

You need to get your BP taken OP! Sounds really worrying and definitely not something you should ignore. Go to A&E if you have to, you're not wasting anyone's time. It could make a big difference to be seen quickly, go today if you haven't already. We're all rooting for you!

cultkid · 30/06/2020 18:41

Have you been seen

Nat6999 · 30/06/2020 19:34

You need your urine checking for protein, I developed PE in the space of 24 hours, my body swelled up so much I gained 2 stone. I had emcs after my induction failed & developed HELLP syndrome, I was put in high dependency as my organs were failing, the headaches, vision loss & vomiting are all symptoms of HELLP syndrome. Go to triage & insist they check you over.

timeforawine · 30/06/2020 19:52

How are you OP?

cultkid · 02/07/2020 19:40

Any updates?

quince2figs · 06/07/2020 19:17

Hope you are ok, OP
