Trying really hard not to gain too much this time but not working that well. So far I've gained 7lb at 15 weeks. My bmi was 26 pre pregnancy.
How are you less skinny ladies managing your weight gain?

My BMI was 27 pre pregnancy and I’m now 33 weeks and have gained 24lbs (10.8kg)

My bump is enormous (over 99th centile 😨) and I’ve lost weight from face and limbs, so hoping I won’t have too much work to do post birth!

novmummydejavu · 08/06/2020 09:27

@Nelbert19 that's not a bad gain. I put on just under 2 stone with my first but I was slightly lighter to begin with with her

My BMI was also 26 and am currently 17 weeks and still the same weight. I did lose a couple of kg in the first trimester though.

MrsRose2018 · 08/06/2020 09:29

Yikes is a BMI or 26 considered overweight??

I was 15st 3 - BMI 37 - the day I got my positive test. I’m 34 weeks now and the scales this morning said 15st 8 so that’s a “gain” of 5lb.

molifly14 · 08/06/2020 09:31

BMI anything over 25 is considered overweight. I put on 4 stone but had a 10lb baby. I'd say three stone I lost in baby and fluid so try not to beat yourselves up too much.

novmummydejavu · 08/06/2020 09:33

@MrsRose2018 you've done really well there only gaining 5lb!

i've gianed about 2lb so far - i'm 25w and BMI 34 x

novmummydejavu · 08/06/2020 09:37

@molifly14 see I know with my first only about 10lb went as soon as she was born so I'm not banking on losing a lot

PawPatrolMakesMeDrink · 08/06/2020 09:38

I’m 21w, put on 3lbs so far.

Harper33 · 08/06/2020 09:39

I’ve had my baby now but I started with BMI of 37, I was 100kg, I was 101kg at 40 weeks so only gained 1kg, I was 89kg 3 weeks after so actually lost weight! I was a bit sick until 16 weeks but turns out pregnancy is good for me!

novmummydejavu · 08/06/2020 09:41

@Harper33 gosh that's brilliant. Did you do anything to control your gain?? I'm trying to count calories

OP posts:
SanFrancisco49er · 08/06/2020 09:46

Oh tons. BMI was 30 but with lockdown and nausea i found exercise tricky and foods I could face really difficult so bread, cheese and crisps have been my friends.
I'm bigger than I've ever been but hoping to stabilise during 2nd trimester. Not worried about weight from a vanity perspective as I'll get fit afterwards but trying to keep an eye on it for health reasons.

Clemmie83 · 08/06/2020 09:50

I also started with a BMI of 26, I'm 15 weeks now and have lost a couple of lbs! Since I've been pregnant my weight has been the most consistent it's ever been!

novmummydejavu · 08/06/2020 09:50

@SanFrancisco49er it's difficult. I've been a carb monster too with nausea and exercise limited because I've had bleeding.

@novmummydejavu I don't think with a BMI of 26 you'd be advised to try and maintain weight in the same way that someone with a much higher starting weight would. I'm the same as you in that I'm trying not to overeat but I'm not restricting at all. If you count calories you should still be eating a normal maintenance amount (usually around 2000cals for women). This should allow for normal.pregnancy weight to go on. I certainly wouldn't think about reducing without discussing with your midwife.

novmummydejavu · 08/06/2020 09:59

@Lola871 that's what I've been doing. Keeping around 2000 calories but not less than 1800. I definitely don't want to harm the baby by not eating enough. Porridge for breakfast, sandwich at lunch and fruit, soup for my tea. I may have had less in the first 10 weeks as I was really sick. I've still gained 7lb though which is why I'm fretting

@Harper33 - do you mind me asking how far along you were before you feel like you had any kind of bump? I had a starting BMI of 35.2 and have lost 2kg so far (I’m almost half way). But I’m having a lot of anxiety that things are not ok and I think it’s because of the psychological thing of not having a bump 😔

IamC · 08/06/2020 10:02

@MrsRose2018 I got my positive at the same weight, so you are now my inspiration! Any tips?

SanFrancisco49er · 08/06/2020 10:04

Apart from a health perspective, I wouldn't worry too much. I'm a big believer in listening to your body - some days it will want more food, other days a lot less so I go with it! Same with sleep and exercise.
Some people will only gain a little, some lots. As long as baby is healthy that's all that matters!

Bert2020 · 08/06/2020 10:04

29 weeks and down 21lbs, morning sickness & GD. Lost more in my first though as sickness didn’t stop until birth.

Whiffle77 · 08/06/2020 10:08

I had a BMI of around 27, I'm nearly 15 weeks and have put on 1.5pounds so far. Really surprised as I have been stuffing my face, all I want to do is eat hangover food and sugar! Still walking a lot; and started exercising again to try and maintain my mental health more than anything. I'm trying to be healthy rather than low calorie, but at the same time I figure if I am feeling like I want hangover food then that's what my body wants! It is what it is.

Harper33 · 08/06/2020 10:08

@novmummydejavu No I didn’t do any calorie controlling, just couldn’t eat as big portions I think. I’d get full very quickly then be hungry again like hour or two later.

@WK29 it was my second baby so started showing around 23 weeks. 26 weeks with my first though. I wouldn’t worry too much though, it’ll come.

Babyshine2020 · 08/06/2020 10:13

My BMI was 29 (so almost obese ..) but I'm not 32 weeks and I've put on 7.2kg so essentially 16lbs. My bump is measuring on the 97th and baby was measuring at on average in the 86th

But from what I've heard the third trimester is the one to gain the most weight..

Isthisfinallyit · 08/06/2020 10:14

Bmi of 40, 14+3 weeks, gained almost 3 pounds. I'm not dieting at all, I just think you don't gain that much when you're obese. No idea how it works. Hope it stays, it would be nice to be slimmer after birth.

novmummydejavu · 08/06/2020 10:18

@Babyshine2020 I don't think necessarily that's true. I remember I put most of mine on second trimester
