What did you morning sickness actually feel like?

In the subject really. Does it gradually get worse and then better or is it just constant? About mid morning I have this sudden wave of nausea where I feel I could actually be sick, by the time I've composed myself and figured out there's a bathroom near me and I can make it, it goes! Maybe 30-60 seconds tops. Then later in the afternoon I'll feel a little car sick - it's the only way I can describe it. Probably a few minutes. Then I'm ok again. This can then not happen for 4 days before I get another little wave! Not wishing on more but is this my morning sickness? I guess I thought it would be harsher! I'm 7+5. What are your experiences??

Really everyone's morning sickness is different, most peoples tends to peak around 9 weeks so yes it could still get worse as that's when hcg peaks.
With mine both times I've had no actual sickness but a constant retching/nausea feeling, lots of smell and food aversions but my stomach feels so empty and hungry it almost hurts. The only way I've ever been able to help the sickness is to eat. It's eased off both times around 11 weeks then fully gone around 15/16 weeks, good luck xx

Mine is pretty similar to sarahc336. I have it all day from when I wake up until I go to sleep and its like that sickness in my stomach that comes with a bad hangover... Except can't have any hair of the dog to shift it! Lots of burping and stomach rolling, have to eat every hour to prevent it become worse Confused

wishing3 · 26/05/2020 18:30

I felt a bit car sick too and had a gurgly stomach until about week 7, then had a few weeks of random retching where I felt like when you’ve got phlegm at the back of your throat and it makes you gag.

SpecialKakapo · 26/05/2020 18:33

Mine was like that feeling in your stomach after you've just done a shot of tequila and you're not quite sure if it's going to come up again Envy

Actual puking happened rarely though.

I think everyone's different...

Like I’d been run over by a bus. Repeatedly. I couldn’t even stand the tv or lights being on. Like I was trying to wade though treacle. It’s been horrific in all three pregnancies, tried so many anti emetics.

I’m 24 weeks now and still have the constant feeling that I’m just ‘ill’.

It’s the reason I have HUGE ages gaps! This is the last one.

Fred578 · 26/05/2020 18:45

Dreadful queasiness 🤮 I didn’t have it at all with my first but had it terribly with my second. That and heartburn

Fred578 · 26/05/2020 18:45

That’s why I only had two Grin

Fred578 · 26/05/2020 18:46

Actually, that’s not strictly true. I only had two because the second one ripped me from arse to elbow and didn’t sleep for the first four years... fun times.

DramaAlpaca · 26/05/2020 18:51

Mine was like severe, constant motion sickness as if I was on a car ferry, with a permanent taste in my mouth and a heightened sense of smell as well. Oh, and lots of throwing up, more in the evenings than in the morning. It went on for 20 weeks each time, too. I have no idea how I managed to have three children.

amysmithdubai · 26/05/2020 18:51

I'm almost 9 weeks and have been pretty rough since 5.5 weeks. Every morning, like clockwork, I'm sick (have tried eating first thing but it doesn't help). Then, if I leave it even 10 mins too late to eat lunch, I'm sick again. Luckily it clears up in the afternoons. Thank God for working from home and being able to lie down / use the bathroom in private! What seems to get me through is carbs - the totally opposite to the keto diet I've mainly stuck to for about 2 years.

Feels absolutely awful while I'm wretching but then if I'm not sick, I'm panicking something's wrong.

I'm guessing the sickness will go away soon but the anxiety will stay - probably for the rest of my life now 😂

Mine usually starts between weeks 5-6. With my last baby I had very strong food aversions. Nothing appealed to me at all and it was quite generalised. I can’t recall having a particular strong craving for any sort of food. If I was sick it was usually stomach bile first thing on a morning with mild nausea.

This time around I’ve vomited more, not had the generalised food aversions that I had last time but have had a couple of foods that I absolutely can’t stand. Curry seems to be a food that makes my stomach churn funnily enough, it’s usually a favourite of mine.
My nausea was pretty bad during week 9 - I’d say this was the peak for me and then started to tail off towards the end of week 10 it goes for a day or two and then seems to come back for a day but it’s definitely on the decrease now (I’m 13+3)

WindsorBlues · 26/05/2020 19:03

Mines started week six - aversion to most foods and only able to eat small amounts of cold food, it was just a constant feeling of "Oh I'm about to be sick" then it would pass by the time I got to the loo. Threw up once in week seven and once I did it all seemed to pass. On week Eight atm and I feel a bit of nausea in the morning but a rich tea biscuit helps. I can eat warm food again and most foods are OK but the thought of a cup of tea, red meat or scrambled eggs makes me dry heave.

Theyweretheworstoftimes · 26/05/2020 19:03

Was sick from 6 weeks until baby born. 50 times a day. Was in hospital and couldn't walk or stand. I had HG. My teeth are permanently knackered.

Only had one baby.

BillyAndTheSillies · 26/05/2020 19:05

Constant nausea. Could only eat beige food.
This lasted until 30 weeks both times. Never again.

WindsorBlues · 26/05/2020 19:05

Despite both being in our thirties my husband and I where totally ignorant to how sick I'd actually feel. We both believed it'd be like how they show in movies, I'd wake up, be sick once, brush my teeth then go about my day as normal Grin

WLAH · 26/05/2020 19:07

@Fred578

That’s why I only had two Grin
Snap.
WLAH · 26/05/2020 19:07

I puke the whole 9 months 2 to 3 times a day

Itisbetter · 26/05/2020 19:10

I vomited a couple of times on a good day and lots on a tired day. I had no idea that lots of people just felt a bit queasy Grin Just one of those things.

babbaganoush · 26/05/2020 19:20

Mine was just a constant feeling of nausea from around 5 weeks to 16 weeks. This would get worse in waves around 5-10 times a day where I would either dry heave or actually be sick. With my first pregnancy I had to force myself to eat and existed on dry toast, crackers and rich tea biscuits. I lost 9lbs in the first trimester. With this one weirdly, eating made it SO much better and I gained weight. I think it is different for everyone but it really is the pits. I remember thinking I'd never feel normal again but thankfully it did pass.

Chanel05 · 26/05/2020 19:28

Mine felt like motion sickness all day, every day from week 6-16, even when I woke up in the night the sickness would hit immediately.

Stabbitha · 26/05/2020 19:31

Like having a stomach bug while hungover on rough seas

MichelleOR84 · 26/05/2020 19:50

My sickness was in the mornings usually and felt exactly like a hangover ( the type where you end up getting sick ). It would last until I either threw up or ate something. Sometimes it lasted longer though .

I then got waves of nausea from food aversions. I also suffered pretty badly with motion sickness and a few times I had to get off my train because I thought I was going to puke ( thankfully never did )

Crystal87 · 26/05/2020 19:55

Mine was triggered by smells. Literally EVERYTHING smelled revolting, even things like shower gel and a handbag. A few times it was like sea sickness and dizziness but for me it was mainly the smells.

Crystal87 · 26/05/2020 19:56

And was constant, although it did ease by about week 14.

kfcplease · 26/05/2020 20:43

Mines in the evening! Starts around 7pm and lasts a few hours. Starts with a hunger type of pain then just waves of nausea and cooking dinner is a nightmare as every smell makes me feel worse! 🤢
