Does anyone have a photo of a pregnancy test BEFORE they peed on it?

Im 35 and we've just started TTC so naturally Im quite anxious that it's too late for me. We had our first proper try this cycle and at 6/7 dpo (this is an estimate from my Clue app) I had a full day of feeling nauseous but not many other symptoms other than that. (I weirdly have a lot of ulcers in my mouth which is strange for me - including a huge on on my throat :( )

Anyway, I got excited and took a Sainsburies pregnancy test last night and another this morning. (Im 10/11 dpo but have a 25 day cycle, AF is due in a couple of days). I was disappointed to see that it was negative. However, after googling pictures of positive pregnancy tests I'm now wondering if they were just very faint positives. There was a very faint blue vertical line in both of them but it was so faint I just figured it was there because that's how they were made, like it was a manufacturing line or something. Unfortunately, I've left it too long to double check - I pulled them out the bin and they both now have positive lines but that would be the case normally, right?

Anyway, I was just wondering if anyone had a photo of a pregancy stick BEFORE they've pee'd on them so I can see if there was ever a line there or whether I might still be in the chance of getting a BFP.

There is no line on any unused pregnancy tests I’ve used. I don’t have a pic, sorry . I use boots cheap ones ( the strip type) or first response or clear blue .

However I know how my eyes can play tricks on me with damn pregnancy tests . Did you get a second opinion??!!

I hope it’s a positive for you🤞

After the results window, the test is considered invalid plus 6/7 dpo is still extremely early as implantation only occurs at 6-10 days dpo.
I'd suggest waiting a few days and using a pink/red dye test like first response early result as blue dye tests are notorious for strong evaps that can look positive

ElectricTonight · 19/05/2020 10:31

I've used those Sainsbury's tests and they are very unreliable. I'd use pink dyed tests if you can as they are much clearer. Good luck x

Thanks all. I didn't bother showing them to my OH as in my head they were definitely negative but now Ive seen photos of other people positive tests, the ones with the really faint line, it's making me think that maybe it was a faint positive. Im not holding my breath though :) It's so hard waiting isnt it !

I might do another test tomorrow morning with a better test. I know I'm being impatient haha I expect if it is a BFN, next month I'll be a lot more chilled about it...

@gingerninja85 as others have said, try and get a pink dye test if you can, from feedback on MN they seem much more reliable in very early pregnancy (I just used coop cheapies) and got a BFP around 10 or 11 dpo.

Of course you can test as early and as many times as you want but it's pointless if you haven't even implanted yet. You'll just be wasting money on tests and potentially getting a false result so will need to retest later anyway.

The earliest I would test is 9 or 10 dpo and even that is really, really early.

sel2223 · 19/05/2020 11:05

Oh, and I'm 37 and coming up to 28 weeks with first pregnancy by the way so it's definitely not too late OP

Togepi · 19/05/2020 11:07

Don't bother with the blue dye tests, they're rubbish! First response are expensive but worth it in my opinion.

As others have said, you're testing very early if you're only 6/7 dpo. Best to give it a day or two and then try again. I think I was about 9 or 10 dpo when I got my first very faint positive

gingerninja85 · 19/05/2020 11:50

I am at 10/11 dpo... ive just done another test. Mostly because im an impatient idiot. Im also even more idiotic and pee'd on the wrong side... and got a faint pink line! it is very faint but its there... im going wait for a few more days to do another! haha!

No idea if it changes anything peeing on the wrong side but generally a line is a line if it comes up in the right time frame!

Sending tentative congratulations!

How do I add a picture to a thread?

Thank you :) Trying not to get too excited!

I had a line like you described on a sainburys cheap test, next day got a positive on a boots own one so it's definitely a possibility! Good luck

gingerninja85 · 19/05/2020 12:25

@behappyandsmile Thats exactly what Ive just done - a Boots pink test. Trying so hard not to be excited! haha!

BeHappyAndSmile · 19/05/2020 12:39

That's so exciting! Congratulations! I know it's not advised but I looked at the boots one again 20 mins after seeing the faint line and it had darkened so if yours does that I'd say it's a good sign! Can't wait to nosey at the picture Grin

gingerninja85 · 19/05/2020 13:07

Ah I think Im too new to share photos (Only joined earlier today).. maybe I can do a link instead...

This is the photo of the test within the reults timeframe. Its verrrrry faint - Pic 1 - faint positive?

Then about an hour later I pulled all my other ones out the bin to have a second glance. The blue ones were taken yesterday and this morning and are the ones I thought were negative. The pink one is the same as the above but an hour later. I know you shouldnt check old ones so they probably mean nothing... Pic 2

Excuse the dirty sink!! We're having building work done and Ive given up trying to keep it clean plus OH beard hair gets everywhere!!

NoIDontWantToBuildASnowman · 19/05/2020 13:18

They’re both positive... congrats!!

gingerninja85 · 19/05/2020 13:22

Thank you :) Lets hope it sticks around... trying to be very pragmatic about it - I know its harder when you're older. Its so nice chatting about it with you guys as its far too early for me to tell anyone other than OH and I just want to tell the world! Grin

Congratulations OP Daffodil
All look positive and they arnt that faint either!

ShowOfHands · 19/05/2020 13:27

Not that you need to do another test but don't wee ON them. Wee in a pot and dip!

gingerninja85 · 19/05/2020 13:29

@electrictonight really? Im obviously clueless because I was expecting a clear line for a positive! haha! Ill do another test tomorrow morning and then I have a digital one that I'll do once/if Ive missed AF. I only have a 25 day cycle... would this change anything re. detecting HCG?

OP posts:
Whatusernamecanihave · 19/05/2020 13:39

TiggeryBear · 19/05/2020 13:41
