20 weeks pregnant and bleeding, in need of a hand hold

Today was supposed to be a great day, we've had our anomaly scan booked for 11.30. My rainbow baby.
When I woke up I had a gush of blood come out of me. We rushed to maternity triage and I've been here since.
Baby is ok right now. I've seen him, I've heard his heartbeat, he is fine. But that is for now. I'm still bleeding. Doctors can't rule out that miscarriage will happen. I'm being kept under observation.
I'm absolutely terrified, and cause of covid I'm here alone without my husband.

Flowers hand hold OP- I’m sending positive thoughts your way!!! X

Babyshine2020 · 18/05/2020 16:39

Please don't worry.
I know there's horror stories all over the internet, but I've bled since around 7 weeks with this pregnancy and I've been told to expect the worse on two occasions. I've been bleeding for the last 10 days (currently 29 weeks). Nobody can see why I'm bleeding, but I am..

Please try not to think the worst. You're in the best place possible. ❤️

I had bleeding the other week at 18 weeks pregnant and it did stop. I hope the same happens for you. Have they done an internal?

lockdownpregnancy · 18/05/2020 19:54

❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Temple29 · 18/05/2020 20:04

Hope you’re ok OP. I also had bleeding last week (23 weeks) but it stopped and turns out it was related to my cervix and nothing to do with baby so not all bleeding leads to a miscarriage.

Wishing you all the best x

Kezmum14 · 18/05/2020 20:07

I too bled at 20 weeks. Clots bigger than 50p pieces were coming out of me, I was monitored and baby was fine. I was told I just had to wait and see if I was miscarrying. It was awful. I wanted to share my story as I have a very healthy 12 year old. I think but can’t remember it may have been my placenta part covering my cervix. It moved before his birth. I hope everything goes as well for you 🥰

Pukeymama · 18/05/2020 20:18

How scary ☹️☹️ my friend who is now 30 weeks pregnant has had bleeding on and off (sometimes quite heavy) since about 18 weeks, baby and her are still fine and they doctors are confident they will remain fine. I really hope it settles quickly for you

PaulinePetrovaPosey · 18/05/2020 20:38

I had bleeding episodes from 20 weeks till the very day DD arrived - she's now 5 months and happily snoring. Sending positive vibes to you.

kirstygw · 18/05/2020 20:44

Hi I’m 11 weeks pregnant on Wednesday and have my 12 week scan Nxt week.
Yesterday I had pale pink spotting and today it has become gradually worse , becoming more red and just now I noticed a small clot on the tissue. I have a scan booked in tomorrow morning with EPU but am very scared that Ive had a miscarriage.
Does Anyone else have the same story or similar to share??

coffeeorwine · 18/05/2020 21:43

I had this happen 3 times over 4 days when I was 14/15 weeks. Currently 22 weeks with a healthy baby. I also had a threatened miscarriage and never got an answer, I suspected a hematoma. Keeping everything crossed for you. X

kirstygw · 18/05/2020 21:58

@coffeeorwine. Thank you for your reply. It’s reassuring that others have had bleeding and had a healthy pregnancy. Did u have any other symptoms during this time that concerned u? Xx

coffeeorwine · 18/05/2020 22:10

Sorry @kirstygw my bleeds were more similar to the OP but my friend had bleeds like yours and had a healthy baby, albeit she was slightly prem. we both had back ache, hers was quite often and then a very sore abdomen. I was never sure if my back ache was also a symptom of my rough toddler and working from home, although it has settled. Good luck for your scan tomorrow, wishing you a healthy pregnancy. X

FourPlasticRings · 18/05/2020 22:18

Hope everything is OK, OP. Handheld for you Flowers

kirstygw · 18/05/2020 22:21

Sorry I’m new to this , what is OP!? 🤔🤔

lockdownpregnancy · 18/05/2020 22:24

OP= Original Poster 👍🏻

SamK93 · 18/05/2020 22:24

@kirstygw original post. I think

kirstygw · 18/05/2020 22:25

Thank you.

Pukeymama · 18/05/2020 22:26

@kirstygw OP means original poster. You'd be better off starting a new thread so people can answer you directly rather than get mixed advice regarding the two different situations. So sorry that you're in this position, it must be very scary for you. Hope everything goes well tomorrow xx

Sunshinegirl82 · 18/05/2020 22:31

I had 2 big bleeds at 20 and 21 weeks due to (they think) a low lying placenta. Baby was completely unaffected and was born safely at term. He is now nearly 4!

It was so hideous and I know nothing will really help right now but it doesn’t necessarily mean the worst. Fingers crossed it stops soon and all is well.

SoonToBeMrs91 · 19/05/2020 11:44

Hi guys, thank you for your support. We've spent the night in hospital cause bleeding (in my opinion)was quite bad. I've bled through few of those lovely thick maternity pads.
We have anterior placenta and it appears that theres a little off shoot of placenta that is covering up cervix and bleeding.
Our boy is fine, he's being monitored every few hours. He has strong nice heartbeat.
We are definitely staying here until bleeding stops. Right now it seems to be slowing down which is a great thing.
Thank you for all the prayers xx

I had a placenta with a tail! Sounds very similar. For me the bleeding stopped as things progressed and the placenta “moved” up as it were. I did have to have 8 weeks off work because the drs wanted me to take it easy but everything was fine in the end. Fingers crossed things calm down for you.

SoonToBeMrs91 · 19/05/2020 12:32

@SunshineGirl82 that's what doctors are hoping will happen with my placenta, it will move up as pregnancy progresses. Glad to hear everything was fine with you and little one.
