Waters broke 38+6 green mucous on pad

I just need a handhold waters broke and I'm sat on a hospital bed on my own whilst being monitored, there was a little bit of green on the pad so I'm not going home. Really frightened and hope the baby is okay. Birthing plan conpletely out of the window, I'm a FTM and completely unprepared.

Sorry you are on your own. Try and get a midwife to come & talk to you about what's happening. I know it's hard, but for both you & the baby's sake try and take some slow deep breaths and stay calm.

Oh bless you. Well you're in the right place, and anything to worry about would show up on the monitoring. I would think you're going to have your baby sooner than expected, so try just to thing about holding your little bundle of joy and how amazing it's going to be for both of you x

This happened to me, although at 40+2. It was meconium in my case and although my contractions had started with my waters going I was put on a drip to speed things up. Ended up in an emergency c-section the next day but DD was born hale and hearty.

I know it's the last thing you feel like but try and get some sleep if you can. I took some diamorphine in the early stages to get some sleep, although it's hard to relax when you're sitting with an ear listening to the monitor!

Thankyou @TheCraicDealer I think they said it was probably meconium (a tiny bit anyway) just waiting for the doctor there hasn't been anymore since. Really hope I don't need a cesarean xxx already gutted that I won't be allowed the waterbirth I had planned. X

My plan was to have a water birth too op! I ended up a week early and I didn't get to have one either! It's annoying how we pictured our birth to go and it does the opposite. But you won't care in the end! ❤️

I had meconium in my waters and I was able to have a natural birth. They were constantly monitoring my baby to make sure he wasn't in distress but he was fine all along. We had to stay in for a few days afterwards so they could keep monitoring him for infections, but he was happy and healthy all through. Try your best to stay positive Thanks

My waters broke at home at 40+5, meaning my planned homebirth was cancelled and I had DD in hospital 9 hours later, hard work as she was 8lb15 and shoulder dystocia so she got stuck, but that was nothing to do with the meconium and no C section needed.

If you're being monitored and baby's heartbeat is fine, try not to worry, they should be taking all this into account re your treatment.

The section was due to DD's awkward position and nothing to do with the meconium- didn't mean to worry you and should have been clearer. I'm sorry for that.

I spent late pregnancy keeping an open mind about pain relief, pools, stools, birthing balls and that rope swing thing they have in some MLUs. Even though I purposely didn't have a 'plan' I still felt gutted I was confined to a monitor. But on the plus side we knew DD was being kept an eye on. It's ok to be disappointed but just because it might be different to what you planned doesn't mean it won't be amazing Thanks

Hi sorry I've been trying to sleep but only really managed an hour, not in labour yet just hooked up for monitoring at the moment. I think I'm having some contractions. Xxx

I had green mucus and it was all fine in the end. Had the babe about 14 hours after they were found to be green and all healthy. They won’t let you go part about 24 hours anyway once your waters break. Good luck love, you will be marvellous

Well its been 44 hours and still not been induced, Covid has meant the hospital I'm at is completely packed as my hospital maternity unit closed down to treat extra Covid patients and can't get on the labour ward, on antibiotics as we speak completely gutted.

My waters went at home but contractions stopped at the hospital. I was induced 24hrs after, and when this was ineffective a further 24hrs later I had a EMCS.

Are you on a fetal monitor?

Hi OP,
Hope you're doing okay, try to keep yourself relaxed although easier said than done!

I wanted a lovely calm water birth and was all set for one until waters broke mid labour and had meconium! I had to have my worst case scenario birth of being on the bed, monitored but in actuality it wasn't half as bad as I'd thought. Hang in there 🤞

I'm just waiting for there to be space on the Labour ward I'm apparemtlynat the front of the queue but the queue can change for those in an emergency.

I get put on a fetal monitor every 6 hours and antibiotics. Just literally waiting. My contractions are incredibly painful but 5-10 minutes apart. Last cervical exam only had me at 2cm at midday today, I had a softening pill inserted into my cervix yesterday at 11am when I was at 1cm. So frustrating.

Try and breathe through your contractions and relax as much as possible, hard I know. In through your nose for 4, out through your mouth for 8. It relaxes you.

I really think you will have progressed since you were last checked, they are likely to ask to break your waters to speed things up.
