So everyone knows people love to judge and comment on what pregnant women do. Well screw that, let's hear what you've done "wrong", unpopular options, whatever the hell you want to bitch about people weighing in on!

Although please try and keep it judgement free as this is just a lighthearted post to make us all feel a little bit better in an option laden time. Halo

I'll start.....today I over indulged on coffee and stole a few mouthfuls of my boyfriends beer. And it was glorious Brew

I keep forgetting to take my vitamins, have now set an alarm to remind me.

MichelleOR84 · 08/05/2020 12:28

@Makeuptherules I’m from Canada and our caffeine limit is 300mg lol.

Although I now live in the U.K. so I keep it under 200mg but sometimes I’m like screw it and I drink an extra coffee and pretend I’m in Canada 🤣

Saraj09876 · 08/05/2020 12:34

Oh and a large glass of wine every Friday :)

BeMorePacific · 08/05/2020 12:38

@Britishgurl123 haha.. easily done! xx

JustFrigginNameChange · 08/05/2020 12:46

I thoroughly enjoy shit food now (11 weeks pregnant)

I've just eaten a tin of macaroni cheese and it was the shit! Wishing i'd bought two now

There's a gorgeous homemade lamb and spinach curry in the fridge too but my stomach seems to fawn over tinned crap.

toomuchteaandcake · 08/05/2020 12:52

Sweets, biscuits, cakes galore, daily. I have sips (gulps) of OH's drinks (wine, beer, G&Ts) on a weekly basis. I make a reverse lager top (a glass of lemonade topped with a splash of lager (it tastes like lemonade but it smells like beer!). I bust my caffeine limits every so often. I've had a medium rare steak from time to time. I can't stomach any cooked veg and don't even try now.

Thank you for this post!

CoalCraft · 08/05/2020 12:55

I've always been an unhealthy eater and pregnancy isn't changing that much...

JustFrigginNameChange · 08/05/2020 13:12

@toomuchteaandcake are we supposed to avoid medium rare steaks? This is news to me! I had one the other day, bloody enjoyed it too

toomuchteaandcake · 08/05/2020 13:18

@JustFrigginNameChange I think on the basis that you have to avoid eating 'undercooked meats' but I reckon as long as it's not mooing I'm sure it's fine!

Pineapplebaby · 08/05/2020 13:19

Baked Camembert, loads of chocolate and full fat coke! I also had a small glass of wine last weekend and half a beer the other night...

T0rt0ise · 08/05/2020 13:23

Two to three cans of diet coke throughout pregnancy (and now when breastfeeding Shock ) plus as much sugary crap as I could get my hands on. I also rode my horse throughout, went to the gym throughout and spent time hiking at altitude during the first trimester - shoot me now Grin Pregnancy sucks, do what you can to get though it.

motherofsnortpigs · 08/05/2020 13:31

I’m definitely in the pregnancy sucks camp today. Been up all night with a migraine and puked up my morning cup of tea and the dry bran flakes. Yes, I’ve taken codeine in the first trimester.
Plus, I’m too old to have children and no one needs 6 - so the haters say. So glad I’m holed up in my bed (and have been since lockdown).

BeHappyAndSmile · 08/05/2020 14:47

Ah I'm so glad so many people are doing the same things as me! Honestly think I've forgotten what a vegetable looks like. Plus if I eat something baby doesn't like (totally blaming baby already and I'm only 17 weeks) I end up throwing up so KFC, takeaways and cake it is. Wink

Very nice to hear how normal it is to break the "rules" after being preached to daily!

I did my research thoroughly and mostly followed the NHS advice on what to avoid but...

I had the odd glass of wine or small beer (the reason the recommendation zero is because they don't trust us to control ourselves).

I didn't worry about caffeine (the studies I could find were very vague and the only proper animal tests only showed foetal effects at levels associated with maternal toxicity - you'd make yourself ill first).

Some weeks I survived of full fat coke and ritz crackers, or ate packet of skittles to curb nausea at work (HG).

Also: Camembert is totally fine if you bake it. Sushi is also fine unless the fish is wild caught and fresh (farmed or frozen in transit is fine - so most of it).

I did avoid all rare-ish meat and pate, but looking back the risk is so so small I probably wouldn't bother to avoid medium rare steak next time.

skinnyhotchoc · 08/05/2020 15:05

I've just ordered a papa johns in the middle of the afternoon

Thekindyoufindinasecondhand · 08/05/2020 15:07

*Definitely have been exercising every day and definitely haven't been enjoying a large glass of white wine now and again.

*Could possibly be the opposite

Pinktruffle · 08/05/2020 15:35

I'm on lockdown so I'm spending far too much time in bed, Isit around watching TV and dont get up till 1ish, and when I do get up, I just transfer to the sofa and vegetate. I'm doing no excercise and not eating anywhere near enough fruit and veg (and I'm a vegetarian). I'm hoping the pregnacare vitamins make up for that.

My sickness is starting to abate now but I'm still getting some cramping so still a bit scared to excercise - that's my excuse anyway.

I also desperately want an elective C-Section even though this I'm a FTM. I'm only 11 weeks yet though so have time to discuss that with the NHS. A previous late-ish miscarriage has left me terrified of giving birth.

Luxembourgmama · 08/05/2020 16:17

I ate so much McDonald's I used to be waiting for it to open. And drank lots of coke and sometimes ate Parma ham

BlueBlazerBlack · 08/05/2020 16:23

I went skiing when I was around 6 or 7 weeks pregnant. I am a very experienced skier and didn't fall over once, and stayed away from any busy areas. I also figured that the baby was very well protected and deep inside the pelvis at that early stage.

Nowisthemonthofmaying · 08/05/2020 16:24

This week I've eaten parma ham and salami and had a white wine spritzer. And I'm supposed to be vegetarian Blush

LH1987 · 08/05/2020 16:50

Haha, love this thread.

Yesterday, I ate a six pack of crisps and only stopped because I had run out.

I have frequently gone over the caffeine limits.

I have woken up on my back everynight for the past week, I am really trying to sleep on my left but my body has other ideas!

Horehound · 08/05/2020 16:52

I did have some alcohol although not loads. An odd glass of wine. One night I think I did have two or three gins.

justtb · 08/05/2020 17:05

@nowisthemonthofmaying glad I'm not the only one.. I keep getting fish and chips 🙄 ops. Baby wants what baby wants I guess

justtb · 08/05/2020 17:06

@pinktruffle I'm a vegetarian spending a lot of time on the sofa being lazy and not eating fruit and veg.. I'm so glad it's not just me!!

Colouringinbook · 08/05/2020 17:07

Found out I was pregnant, still ate the camembert I'd just brought from the supermarket. Didn't want it to go to waste.

Cbeebies is parenting DS while I have a lie down on the sofa.
