Is it normal to be really irritated by your partner when you're pregnant?

I don't know if it's hormones, but little things that I previously found endearing about my DP are really pissing me off. Things like he can't just say something really simple, he'll give multiple examples of it and I find myself thinking "just shut up!" Another thing is that we've always been silly with each other - tickling each other, making my DCs toys talk or dance in front of each other and now when he does it I think "Just fuck off".

He hasn't changed anything that he's doing. It's all just winding me up. I don't remember feeling this way with my XH, however he generally wound me up anyway!

Has anyone else experienced this? Are hormones just making me really irritable?

I would say it's normal, I've often snapped and found things my DH doing really irritating me.

I've just tried to bite my tongue and realise its hormonal and to be fair he understands too.

God yes! I am very snappy with my husband. He is actually very good and understanding. I often feel bad and apologise then snap again 30 mins later!

Yes, definitely! I also find people sneezing really irritating at the moment, I understand this isn't reasonable :)

I'm not really snapping at him. Which is one good thing I suppose. I'm just thinking it all because I know it's not reasonable to say it out loud. I don't think it helps that we've both been off work over Christmas so we've been in each other's pockets. I'm looking forward to normality returning.

At what point in the pregnancy do you think I'll start becoming more rational?

Completely normal. I was so clingy when I first became pregnant and then as it progressed, I disliked him more and more to the point that by the time i'd reached the end, I hated being in the same room as him. 4 weeks since I gave birth and from the minute I went in to labour I love him more and more and everything has gone back to normal!

Completely normal, I used to be so pissed off with DH over the littlest thing. Blame the hormones.

Yep. And when you're peri menopausal too.

Weirdly, the little things that he's always done that annoy me, like leaving tea bags in the sink, are still annoying but only in a "that's irritating" kind of way, not in the way that I want him to leave the country when he won't stop speaking.

😂😂 this made me laugh because it sounds like me. I’m 37 weeks and gosh my DH is so irritating ! He only has to breathe and I feel irritated poor man 🙈🙈 this is our 3rd child so hoping it’s doesn’t last and longer than pregnancy 🙊

This made me laugh so much, had to bite my tongue to stop me laughing out loud in a quiet office at work

I'm only 23 weeks and i feel the same on odd occasions!

I feel your pain! I’m 34 weeks and some days even just the way my Hubby forgets to say ‘hi’ when he gets home from work makes my blood boil 😂 it’s horrific but it’s just our hormones.

I picked a fight with DP because he offered to take my car to buy a new tyre (I've got a screw in one). Maybe snapping at him for not shutting the fuck up would be preferable to having a full on argument about him trying to do something to help me.

Oh gosh! 33 weeks and I feel you! Although to be fair, I find my anger directed more toward strangers! I have always been polite and placid, especially to those I don’t know, but today I wanted to scream at a woman blocking the shelf in the supermarket!
Definitely hormonal!!

@allthesharks how far along are you? I feel like this and I’m only 5 weeks

I'm only 9 weeks. I'm not sure how I'll cope if this irritability lasts the entire pregnancy. I definitely wasn't like this in my previous pregnancies. With those I was an emotional wreck and cried and the drop of a hat, but I wasn't snappy and irritable.

@allthesharks I haven’t snapped, but the number of times I’ve thought “oh FFS man up” is possibly in the millions. At the moment OH is complaining about having a cold and not feeling well- imagine growing a tiny human on top of everything else!

Yep 21 weeks here, rang OH on way home from work so see what he fancied for tea and he said ‘we’ll decide when you get home I’m not sure’. Not sure whether I’m hangry or what but evil thoughts crossed my mind 😁
Also the sound of him blowing his nose this morning made me see red 😂

Not just you OP, I've been getting so annoyed by every little thing lately....my partner can't put a foot right.
He even said to me tonight that sometimes I look at him like I hate him (I really don't).

Completely normal, dh breathed way too heavily at night, he wasn't breathing any differently

So unfortunate that we cant control our hormones. I get annoyed with myself for being annoyed with DP!
I have the best DP who wants to look after me. I started washing up the dishes one evening and he came in, swept me off my feet and onto the sofa to rest but I went a little mad and said I wanted to wash up not be sat down! I mean what's wrong with me, who would possibly want to wash up the dishes with a bump making it hard to do so?! Find myself apologising to him and thanking him for putting up with me alot!

Haha I’m 9+6 and literally him breathing is pissing me off!!
Or he’ll make a little comment I’ll burst into tears.
