When did your heartbeat show?

Hi Everyone! Smile
I've recently found out that I'm pregnant after miscarrying back in August. So happy, but also really trying to stay pragmatic this time and not look too far ahead, as difficult as that is.

We're going for a 6 week scan next week and then a 7 week scan the following to compare. I've read conflicting info online with heartbeats showing up (transvaginal scan) and I'm wondering what weeks did everyone see their heartbeats please?

This is sort of to understand how likely it is that I've MC'd again, if the heartbeat doesn't show up next week.

Really appreciate your thoughts!

Saw hb through abdominal scan at 6 weeks and heard hb through abdominal at 7+5

Hey, sorry you have MCed - that pain is awful and the anxiety of a pregnancy after loss can be pretty high. Hope you are managing okay?

Anyway, to your question, I went for a 6 week scan and saw only a yolk sac and was told I was likely MCing again as my gestation sac was only measuring 4 weeks too. Roll on 1 week and everything was somehow back on track. To my sonographer's shock I was measuring 7 weeks and a lovely heart beat of 140bpm too

Good luck

Boymummy3 · 04/12/2019 17:56

Usually between 7-8 weeks.

Aimzxo · 04/12/2019 18:15

Hey I had a transvaginal scan at 6 weeks 5 days and saw the heart beat flickering away, congratulations and good luck xx

Keha · 04/12/2019 18:28

I had transvaginal at what I thought was 6 weeks (due to pain and concerns around ectopic pregnancy). Sonographer could see heartbeat (or fetal pole as she described it at that point). She also said she thought I was 5+6. At 12 week ultrasound they changed the due dates meaning I would have actually been 6+2 at the first scan. So basically I'm not sure if they really did see it as early as 5+6, but it seems from about 6 weeks is possible. Good luck

Heartbeat seen at 6 weeks, transvaginal scan.

ejmay90 · 04/12/2019 18:51

Saw heartbeat at exactly 6 weeks with a transvaginal scan

BertieBotts · 04/12/2019 18:55

It's borderline at 6 weeks. I have early miscarriages so they always say to not get too caught up on it. At 5+5 you normally can't see one but 48 hours later it will be there. So it can be thrown out by a late ovulation or implantation.

Personally I tried not to get excited until there was a heartbeat at around 10 weeks. It's hard to do but I found it helped.

Darkstar4855 · 04/12/2019 19:14

Heartbeat at 5+6 but I think baby probably implanted early as they later moved my due date back a few days and he eventually arrived at 39+2 despite being my first baby!

Africa2go · 04/12/2019 19:20

Yes, I think 6 weeks is probably the earliest. Pre-6 weeks is unusual, and as pps have said, if they do see a heartbeat at 5weeks+, its often because the dates are a bit skewed and they're actually 6wks+.

Scans at 5+4 (couldnt see heartbeat) but visible at 7+4.

Hayley94 · 04/12/2019 19:40

Seen my babies heartbeat at 5+5 through transvaginal x

IaIa3 · 04/12/2019 19:42

TV ultrasound showed no heartbeat at 5+2, abdominal showed heartbeat at 6+2

CountYourRoosters · 04/12/2019 19:42

Try not to worry if you can't see it at 6 weeks. I couldn't. We also had early scan due to Mc. The 2nd one was at 9 weeks and it was all good then

LH1987 · 04/12/2019 20:27

I saw it at 6 + 2. Good luck, I hope all goes well for you.

MuchTooTired · 04/12/2019 20:31

I saw them bang on 6 weeks (ivf babies, surprise twins!) and heard their heartbeats at 9 weeks.

eurochick · 04/12/2019 20:35

My ivf clinic used to scan at 6+1 as they considered that pretty conclusive either way. Obviously dates were spot on. For a natural cycle I'd say 3 weeks after a positive test to be sure.

Thanks to all for your comments! I really appreciate it Smile xxx

@Rachae I was wondering the same thing as I've got my first scan next week too, I'll be 6+3!
Wishing you all the best and congratulations!

cookielove · 04/12/2019 22:07

With my current pregnancy, i had a scan at 4 weeks and it showed only a gestational sac, a week later they put me between 5+3 - 6+3 they saw a little blob and hb. Scan 2 weeks later i measured bang on 8 weeks beautiful bigger blob as was fast asleep and did not move. And clear hb seen. All were internal scans.

I have lost 5 pregnancy so i know the worry.

Fx for you.

Wineislifex · 04/12/2019 22:13

TV scan at 6+3 ❤️

Rachae · 04/12/2019 22:24

@jdy123 wow totally same boat! Fingers crossed for you!

@cookielove thanks so much for your kind words and so sorry to hear about your previous losses xx

I've had bleeding and transvaginal shows no heartbeat. Don't know what to think or feel. However I would like to say thank you for the comments some reassurance. Not getting my hopes up but at least there is hope x
