Getting a new one started before we are full! I’ll go back now and add people - answering everyone’s last posts here!!

@MrsR16 Nesting sounds like a good idea! Our house is such a mess at the moment mid-decorating and I cant wait for it all to be done so I can tidy!!

@BabySquid Fabulous bump! Glad you had such a brilliant time. I’m starting to think that pain sleeping is all just part and parcel of being pregnant now! At my yoga class everyone complains of it!

@Tropicana1 I’m sure there’s nothing to worry about!

@purplefig Yeah it was amazing to hear! Apparently IVF twins are more likely to be small but she never explained why. But yeah, induction is less likely for growth - it could still be needed for other reasons but it’s nice to have one of them off the list! How are you feeling, sleeping any better?

@ELW85 I did sleep a little bit better! I still woke up about 4:30 but slept all the way from 10 til then which is amazing! I feel like I’m slowly getting used to just being tired now! Glad you managed a better sleep!

@PippaPug Glad you got the radiator sorted! Yeah I’m amazed at how care changes from place to place but I think the main thing is as long as someone is seeing us at least once a month then that’s great!! How have you been feeling? I’m 24+4 today and really starting to feel uncomfortable now. My bump measured approx 32 weeks yesterday!! 32!!! She thinks they must be lying all at the front.

@cupcakesandglitter From doing some googling I think at the 28 week appt they’ll more start telling me what I can and can’t do in the birth - like start laying out all of my options? So I’m not gonna worry too much and wait to see what they say! My only ‘preference’ is everyone arrives happy and healthy and all are safe and well! I love the bong haha - how are you feeling today?

@MrsEG thank god for that!! I think I'll need a bouncer with my mum, all she keeps saying to DH is 'you better phone me the min she's in labour' I'm like it could last hours and even days, I ain't having her around for that long especially now that she lives hour and half away and not just 5 mins!!

MrsEG · 05/12/2019 16:17

@BabySquid My poor brother in law was driven mad by my mum calling or texting him every hour (and my sisters labour by all accounts was quick at 14 hours - but that’s still a lot of calls!) they ended up having a bit of a fall out as he snapped at her eventually, saying something along the lines of ‘I’ve got a lot more important things to be doing right now than answering your calls’ and it all caused a bit of a to-do. We’ll have to tell them I’m in hospital as we need people to help with the dog, but DH is just going to say ‘We’re in labour. We’ll let everyone know when the twins have arrived’ and then just turn his phone off!!

BabySquid · 05/12/2019 16:22

@MrsEG that's a damn good idea! I might tell DH to just turn his phone off when things start progressing... either that or just wait till they say I'm like 9/10cm and can start pushing and then tell my mum I'm in labour!

purplefig · 05/12/2019 16:46

@MrsEG yeah that makes total sense. Really interesting that you've spoken to people about it and they've said it even played a part in their PND. I hadn't thought about how it could potentially throw a whole day either. I find it a tricky line to walk, because on the one hand I want to be pretty firm and protect our newborn bubble time and on the other hand, I'm so excited that everyone else is excited. But I could see how that easily becomes overwhelming. I might ask the yoga mums I know who have already had kids what they're doing this time around.

@BabySquid my mum is going to be a birth partner and she's got such a habit of updating my dad on the phone...so I'll have to have a word with her about that beforehand I think.

MrsR16 · 05/12/2019 16:53

@LokiCat getting started on the nursery is very exciting! Certainly made it sink in for me a bit more 😊 midwife appt went really well, very quick as ever! Heard baby's heartbeat again and the midwife reckons it's a very chilled little bean at the moment 😂

@purplefig a month really is a long time! 😂 and it depends - my mum was a few days late with my eldest sister, but then early with the rest of us. My eldest sister was 1 day late with her first and my other sister was 2 weeks early with both of hers! So goodness knows haha! I think with visitors, aside from parents, I'm not letting anyone else at the hospital... everyone else can wait until we're good and ready and then come see us at home! If that's 2 weeks, then so be it!

@MrsEG I think dog walks with bub will keep me sane! 😂

@MrsH497 I am so glad you got to hear the heartbeat!! Isn't it magical?

@PippaPug I have a few things, although it'll probably be a sleepsuit and then the outer layer that DH chose! Little Dalmatian outfit - super adorable 😍 good luck with the wayfair order!!

@BabySquid I'm glad it's not just me that has a funny shaped bump occasionally! 😂

MrsEG · 05/12/2019 18:03

@BabySquid Sounds like a plan!!

@purplefig Yeah I hadn’t thought of it in relation to PND but it makes sense I guess? One friend put it something like ‘there’s a time and a place for visitors and it’s not when you’re still bleeding in to your maternity pad’! Defo speak to some mums - I got all my advice from mum friends and the TAMBA mums. It is hard to find a balance when half the world will be waiting with baited breath but just make sure whatever you decide to do, it’s on your terms and it’s something you’re happy with. Don’t bend over to please when you’ve just given birth!

Well ladies! Looks like baby is not going to hang around till due date! My waters broke as I was laying in bed, so am currently having a bounce on my ball which is massively helping! However, what I think are contractions aren't actually painful yet, which is wonderful! For those of you wondering, there's a definite pop when your waters break! Poor DH though - I asked for a towel or something so that I didn't soak the mattress and he was like "what colour towel?!?" 😂😂😂

BabySquid · 06/12/2019 06:24

@MrsR16 Eeeeek this is so exciting I hope it doesn't take long to progress for you and we can see pics of beautiful baba soon. Hope all goes well! And bless your DH probs didn't wanna get told off for using the 'best towels' to mop up with! Haha

Lemonysherbet · 06/12/2019 07:58

@MrsR16 that's super exciting! DH's towel question made me chuckle 😂

Good luck, I hope it goes as quickly as you want it to xx

@MrsR16 Eeehh how exciting!! Hope everything is progressing well for you!xx

MrsH497 · 06/12/2019 09:12

@MrsR16 how exciting!!! Sending you lots of love hope it's a smooth labour and baby arrives soon! X

purplefig · 06/12/2019 09:26

@MrsR16 oh yeah I didn't mean no visitors for a month Grin just the whole 40 days of rest thing. But, obviously depending on the birth, I think I'd probably get cabin feverish to be honest. Your family all sound pretty timely...hopefully the baby won't keep you waiting too long. OMG JUST READ YOUR UPDATE!!! I AM SO EXCITED FOR YOU!!!!! Wishing you the absolute best birth and safe arrival of your little one. You've got this!! Grin

@MrsEG oh yes for sure, I won't be doing anything I'm uncomfortable with. I think it's just tricky trying to guess what I would want as a) I've never given birth / had a baby before and b) it's going to depend on the delivery which is, again, unknowable. I spoke to some mum friends last night and they advised just doing whatever feels right for you and not worrying about other people's opinions. So I think I'm not going to make any hard rules right now and just play it by ear.

Anyone else got any nice weekend plans? Sure none are as exciting as meeting your baby!! x

MrsEG · 06/12/2019 09:32

@purplefig It would be so nice to have a crystal ball to know how the birth will be wouldn’t it?! I think that’s very good advice! I think I’m being extra strict now as a) twins and b) I have such an overbearing mother. She walked all over my sister when she had her daughter and there’s no way I’m letting that happen to me!
I have quite an exciting weekend for once - going to a Hairspray singalong tomorrow with some friends and then it’s my baby shower on Sunday! Feels very early but otherwise it would have been in Jan and babies could be here by then haha!

I did Aquanatal last night for the first time in a while and think it was a big big mistake, I really can’t walk this morning without grabbing a table/door to help 😭

My goodness! Popped in to say hi and see how everyone was doing - haven't been on in months - only to find that things have kicked of for my due date partner! Wishing you the very best of luck, @MrsR16 !!! I hope I'm not too far behind you 😉 Though on Wednesday, the baby was still only 2/5 engaged (3/5 out) and no signs have appeared so no indication of movement at all on my end! Hope the rest of you are all doing well 😊

LokiCat · 06/12/2019 10:27

Morning ladies!

@MrsR16 ahhhh best of luck!! I hope it progresses soon. Bless your DH, they always seem to worry about the smallest things at times like that's 😂 xx

@purplefig definifely! There's still times where I think it just looks like I've eaten too much, but it is still pretty amazing to see 😁
Yup, will be finding out what we're having (providing baby cooperates - I remember your scan haha).
Ah thanks for the tips! I've been having a look on Facebook marketplace to get a lot of pieces of furniture, especially things like Snuzpod which we most likely won't use after 6 months.
Wow 30 weeks! That's amazing. I still remember your FRER BFP and now you're sorting out the last bits for your hospital bag! So exciting 😁
Re visitors - my mum will be there with us anyway so I'll be restricting to just parents. I highly doubt I'll want to see anyone else after having gone through however many hours of labour. So will most likely be tasking my mum to keep everyone else at bay, which stops people from pestering DH and I instead (she's really great at that).
Most of my extended family is abroad, thankfully so it'll be just friends who I know won't be imposing until I've said I'm happy for visitors.

@MrsH497 that sounds like a wonderful appointment! So glad it went so well :)

@PippaPug I'm thinking girl, DH is thinking boy but we'll be happy either way! Yeah I think we do have more boys on this group.
I think it's definitely best to stick with what you're comfortable with rather than what the mum wants, especially when you'll be a lot further along by mid/end of Jan. Hope she responds well to your email.
Oh dear, I really hope this Wayfair delivery finally went correctly!

So happy it's Friday!
Felt some more movements last night (mix of bubbles/pops and butterflies feeling), but every time I put my hands on my bump to see if I could feel anything stronger it would stop 🤦🏻‍♀️
It was a lot more than any other time so hoping this means they will be getting stronger soon 😁

Hope you've all got some lovely plans this weekend? Have a great day! 😊

MrsR16 · 06/12/2019 10:59

My goodness ladies, what a morning! Ethan arrived at 0830 this morning weighing 7lb 10oz, water birth! I know I'm super biased, but he is just beautiful 😍😍 only had time for 2 paracetamol and a bit of gas and air! Small tear, but nothing to be concerned about thankfully. They should let us go home later on today 😊

LokiCat · 06/12/2019 11:07

@MrsR16 awwww Ethan is absolutely precious! Huge congratulations!! Glad your labour went so well as well. Enjoy all the cuddles and kisses. Hope you're home soon! Xx

LokiCat · 06/12/2019 11:31

@cupcakesandglitter hope you've been doing well lovely! x

LikeTheFruit · 06/12/2019 12:06

Happy Friday!

So 27 weeks today and according to my app that makes me in the third trimester 😱. Can't believe it. Feeling very fortunate that I've been well so far and mostly pain free. Really need to get a move on with buying some stuff, found some v good condition baby Bjorn carrier and bouncer for £12 and £20 on gumtree last night so picking three up this weekend if they are in as good condition as claimed!

@PippaPug According to app 27 weeks is third trimester! love that wee nightly, think I'll put one on my shopping list!

@MrsEG hoping to get a few things in post Xmas sales! Booked in for a consultation thing at John Lewis for first week in Kan to hopefully clear my head about what's needed. Don't have any good reflux cures, I've only had it on and off and not really found anything to help much. Sorry you're in so much pain again! Do you think some extra support with crutches would help you stay more mobile?

@purplefig Wish visitors my family are local but DHs live about 3 hour drive away. I'll try not to have too many visitors while DH is in on pay leave as want to spend the time mostly the three of us. Then keep visits fairly short, about an hour and all pre-arranged. DH's family haven't mentioned when they'd like to visit yet so I'm leaving it up to him to organise. I imagine my mum will be around a lot as will likely be v helpful and would do whatever I needed eg put wash on, make tea etc. My dad on the other hand will sit and expect to be waited on and then I will need to shoehorn him out the door! Definitely not telling anyone when I go into labour, they'll find out once baby is here. Can't stand the thought of constant calls/texts. I find it odd when I'm at work and go and do an epidural and the partner is immediately on the phone to someone to let them know.

@BabySquid I think phone off is the way to go, I wouldn't even bother telling anyone even at 8-9cm as could still be several hours and then you'll just want to spend first few hours bonding with and just looking at baby without the stress of thinking oh better get in touch with x,y,z.

@MrsH497so special when you hear the heartbeat for the first time! Won't be too long until your movements get stronger and more frequent!

@MrsR16 wow that was quick!! Well done you, you absolute superstar. He is utterly gorgeous. Could be be more delighted for you. Xxx

BabySquid · 06/12/2019 12:15

@MrsR16 massive congratulations and a huge well done, only a bit of gas and air and a water birth is exactly how I want my birth to go... you're totally goals right there 💁🏼‍♀️ and he's beautiful, looks a day or so old never mind a couple of hours! He's not wrinkly or old man looking at all!! 💙

purplefig · 06/12/2019 12:18

@MrsR16 oh my goodness gracious me - how incredible!!!! How're you feeling? That sounds truly epic! What a handsome bundle you've got just in time for Christmas. Ahhh I'm so excited for you!! Good you got that tree up in time, eh?! Grin

@LokiCat I'm sure your baby will be much less of a prude than mine Grin. Interesting note about there being more boys than girls on here - there is that theory that boy sperm is quicker, but girl sperm is hardier/lives longer. So the closer you have sex to ov+ the more like it is to be a boy, and the longer the gap the more likely it is to be a girl. Given our collective obsession with temping/tracking/SMEP etc. I wonder if there is a grain of truth in it? Might be total hogwash, but interesting nonetheless! Your visitor plan sounds very sensible and good you've got your mum on board. Oh my goodness, I so vividly remember that FRER BFP too...feels like an age ago and just the other day.

@MrsEG haha, wouldn't it just be!? I'd like to order in a MrsR16 style birth I think! Totally get you on being strict if you've got an overbearing mum with a track record of overstepping the line, totally fair. What a fun sounding weekend - have an amazing time at your baby shower! Hope your PGP settles down and you're a bit more mobile for it. I was going to moan about my back...but it feels positively wimpish in comparison to what you're going through.

@LikeTheFruit I like your plan of not letting many people know you've gone into labour - I think I might steal that idea. I can't think of anything worse than being harassed via phone while you're focused on getting a baby out!

Right I'm going to sign off for the weekend. Have a lovely one everyone and I'll catch-up with you all on Monday. x

cupcakesandglitter · 06/12/2019 12:41

Thankyou @LokiCat 🥰 had a very difficult few weeks and seem to have got lost in the thread 😓🤦🏻‍♀️ 23 weeks tomorrow! Yesterday I saw baby moving in my stomach and managed to capture it on camera! She's getting very strong now 😂😅 how are you doing? X

PippaPug · 06/12/2019 13:41

@MrsEG - that’s a great weight!! At my 24 + 4 they were 1lb 9oz each - so your twins are doing fantastically! Is the heartburn going away at all? Just seen your further update about doing aqua aerobics - I hope your not in to much pain now and your resting?!!

@purplefig
Without sounding all high and mighty, I have worked for families who are incredibly wealthy and “old money” - their boys will wear shorts and tights! At first I found it really odd but now I just find it cute. Interestingly the little nightgowns I have only seen families from “old money” use them - but I don’t know why they are so so practical, and I have changed many a nappy with the child still asleep in these! And yes I felt like I may be a people pleaser too, but I have firmly let my DH know and understand that however I have given birth my body will need to recover and we will have visitors when I’m ready, we have spoken to my parents about it who are totally fine....DH needs to tackle his own parents.
The only issue is I have a family member who works in the NHS and they have mentioned about checking the system to see if I’m in hospital....and then just popping up to say hello....I will be furious if that happens but unsure how to tackle it atm as it hasn’t come up in a while. I think the best bet is to let the midwifes know we want no visitors till we say, and they need to check with us first before letting them in. (I popped in to see my friend - and we got let into the ward but the midwife went to check with my friend she still wanted us to come in) so I’m hoping that’s their policy.

@MrsR16 - Ethan was not hanging around was he?!! Congratulations on your gorgeous bundle of joy, I hope your recovering well and enjoying being a family of 3 💗 looking forward to seeing Ethan in his Dalmatian outfit!

@LikeTheFruit
Happy 3rd trimester!! Can’t believe how fast it’s going! I love those nighties too - they were £8 from JL or two for £10 in M and S, M and S had one green strippy pattern and one star pattern.

@cupcakesandglitter

Lovely to see you back! How are you doing?

So I know your all waiting for it....9 weeks and one day later Wayfair finally delivered the correct part, after 5 other deliveries and countless hours wasted on the phone and by email 🎉🎉🎉 we now need to build it at the weekend to double check it’s all correct and then apparently they will ring us on Monday to talk about refunding us some money, and rightly so!

What is everyone doing this weekend? I’m going back to London tomorrow afternoon to see my old Nanny children - last time before the twins and I haven’t seen them just the two of them since August when they came for a weekend sleepover then and I was just 12 weeks and I was shattered! This time they know about the twins and both are very excited about it all, and so we are going out for cake and hot chocolate - normally I do a day trip with them but I’m not up to it anymore sadly! Then afterwards we have a Christmas party to go to but it won’t be late as one Sunday we are getting on with the nursery! I’m so excited about this now wayfair have finally sorted the cabinet out!
