FTM, outline of my dates below

Last period started 4th June (cycle can be anywhere between 28-33)
Tested positive on 1st July on FRER (thought I'd be 3w+6 from working back dates)
Had private scan on 8th August, thought I was 9w+2 according to date of last period, but I must have ovulated late and I was only measured at 8w+4.

This means my first positive test happened when I was only 3w+1, does anyone else think that is super early to positive test? I was the day before my periods was due, but it seems so bizarre! I know everyone is different. I only tested the day before my period as for the whole week previous I was ill, felt so different, and I genuinely kept saying to my OH 'I think I'm pregnant...' - it was very strange feeling like I knew, but there's no chance it could have been symptoms that early?

Anyways, just wondering when you all got your first positive test? Just out of interest.

I also had my first positive test at 10DPO which I think was 3 weeks exactly but I just had that 'feeling' that I was pregnant and the only real symptom I had was tiredness. I don't know yet if I'm maybe a little further on than I thought because I was shocked how strong my positive was at that time too.

That looks very similar to my test at 3w! It seems to crazy looking back thinking you just knew though, right? PS - congrats!!

@nicannie thank you - same to you 🤗💜

I always thought it was nonsense to feel pregnant that early on but clearly not!

nicannie · 19/08/2019 14:07

@Makingawish I have been told the exact same, hence I'm a little weirded out by it I guess haha! The worst part is finding out early and all the waiting to then tell people - or is that just me?? xx

Makingawish · 19/08/2019 14:11

@nicannie definitely not just you! 😄 I'm a few weeks behind you as well so am yet to even have my early reassurance scan so I just spend all the time in my own head 🙈

EssentialHummus · 19/08/2019 14:20

Yes, me - we were abroad in Japan when I was one/two/three weeks pregnant and I just sort of knew not to eat certain foods/immerse myself in the sauna etc. Tested when we came back and yup, pregnant.

nicannie · 19/08/2019 14:27

@Makingawish it's definitely hard! I couldn't' wait for my 12 week scan hence I ended up paying the £50 odd for the private scan early - have you got your date for a scan yet?

@essentialhummus that's insane !! I think it is right that for some people there re clearly obvious signs that we feel in ourselves

@nicannie no, I don't even have my booking in appointment for another 3 weeks! I'm booking a private scan for 8th September I think when I'll be 7+4 😊

Newyearsameoldshit · 19/08/2019 16:39

I think I was about 9 days post ovulation when I got a whisper of a line - I woke up starving hungry at 3am and just knew.

(But then there were unsuccessful cycles where I 'just knew' and was totally wrong Smile)

bearface45 · 20/08/2019 18:47

It does seem early, I took the test about a week after period was due but have been slightly irregular. Recognised the crampy stretchy tummy pains low down I had last time as pregnancy rather than period pains so fully expected the positive I got

SRK16 · 20/08/2019 18:54

I was almost certain I was pregnant before I tested. I had symptoms from 8 days p/o ( was using ovulation induction meds and scans so know when I ovulated for sure). Things smelt funny, my boobs hurt, I just felt pregnant. I waited to test until 11 or 12 days p/o and got a positive.

I’m now nearly 34 weeks :)

Gebbstick · 20/08/2019 18:55

I was starving and tired before I even missed my next period

caffeinebuzz · 20/08/2019 18:57

I had positive digital tests with both my viable pregnancies at this stage, but both times I was already pretty certain they'd be positive.

And in the weeks leading up to discovering an ectopic (at 6 weeks) I was regularly saying to DH "I haven't felt like this since I was pregnant" but ignored as I had a coil fitted. So not just wishful symptom spotting!

I think some of us are just incredibly sensitive to the hormone changes.

sweetsaltypopcorn · 20/08/2019 22:14

No - I 'just knew' my IVF had failed and my period was going to start.
Got my BFP the next morning! Grin

EugeniaGrace · 20/08/2019 22:25

Yes - second pregnancy. I was around 9-10 dpp and had a a funny feeling at work - it was like a hot flash/total relaxation seeping over me all at once - and I just knew. I waited another week to test but wasn’t surprised at all when it was positive.

First pregnancy, on the other hand, I didn’t have a clue.

Robs20 · 20/08/2019 22:28

Yes. I knew last time. Wasnt ttc but just felt pregnant. Very odd and now desperate to feel that way again!

Lyingonthesofainthedark · 20/08/2019 23:29

Yes. Me.

WaitrosePigeon · 20/08/2019 23:33

Yes I just knew. My tits were sore and I just remember sitting at the end of the bed and thinking ‘yep I’m pregnant’.

avamiah · 20/08/2019 23:38

Yes I knew as my body felt totally different and it was my first child but I just knew from the first couple of days that I was pregnant .

ElizabethG81 · 20/08/2019 23:49

I was very alert to early signs as I had IVF. Had 2 very distinct periods of implantation pains a couple of days after embryo transfer, then the night before I tested at 10 DPO I looked in the mirror and saw bright blue veins all over my chest. Got a very strong BFP and twins about 8 months later Grin

DramaAlpaca · 20/08/2019 23:50

I had my children before the super-sensitive tests you can get now were available. Tests were expensive & you'd only test after your period was a few days late or you wouldn't get a result. So there was plenty of time for symptom spotting.

With DC1 I knew a few days before I was due on, my boobs suddenly went tender & veiny. With DC3 I swear I knew almost immediately, I had a sixth sense that I was pregnant. It was similar with DC3 as well. I've only ever used three pregnancy tests in my life, they were just to confirm what I already knew.

firsttimemum1993 · 21/08/2019 00:12

@Robs20

Me too, this is the first month we have been trying. I had a missed miscarriage 10 weeks ago and wasn't trying to conceive at the time but now want to be pregnant more than ever.

I don't know if I'm being of those crazy people where they imagine symptoms but my last period was on the 5th August and lasted 7 days and we have been going for it ever since, especially during fertile window and I swear my nipples are stinging like mad and I'm so veiny on my boobs, i have this gut feeling I'm pregnant but surely wouldn't have symptoms this quick... just strange only time I have had this nipple/veiny thing was when I was pregnant before. Don't have anything to relate it to because that missed miscarriage was the only time I have been pregnant.

I am probs just being crazy but so strange 🤭

Stroller15 · 21/08/2019 00:26

I also just knew. We were on our honeymoon and I was so tired and would randomly be nauseous with too much wine (completely unlike me!) - must have been 1 or 2 weeks pregnant at that time and just knew something was different with my body. Same with DS2, my DH argued there's no way I could know so early but here we are 2 boys later!

Congratulations!

Jackreacherismyhero · 21/08/2019 00:47

Has anyone 'known' from conception? I know this sounds insane but I felt I knew I would get pregnant after we had sex. I just had to wait for 2 weeks to confirm it!

NeverTalksToStrangers · 21/08/2019 00:47

I've had 4 pregnancies, 2 miscarriages.

The first pregnancy I remember dtd and thinking "I think I'm ovulating", but it was only about 10 days into my cycle. About a week later I said to DH "I'm either sick or I'm pregnant, but something is going on with my body".

I lost that baby and then became obsessed with getting pg again (we weren't 'trying' as such the first time, newly married and just not trying not to get pregnant). After 5 months I decided to hold off dtd every night and used a saliva ovulation thingy. Got definite indicator that I was ovulating, dtd and the next morning I knew I was pg. Like didn't have any doubt in my mind. My body is weird.

I've had other times when I've thought I might be pg (my hormones are nuts and my pre and post period symptoms vary vastly) but when I have actually been pregnant I've had zero doubt.
