Sleephead or baby beanbag

Ladies what would you recommend out of the sleepyhead deluxe pods or a baby beanbag?

I don't like Moses baskets so I'm wanting something to put my newborn in next year when we're down stairs and not in there cot.

Iv head so many good things about sleepyheads but are they actually worth the money?

Loads of my friends and family have used the beanbags with little harness strap things

Any other ideas welcome, thank you!

Dont think either of them are recommended for sleeping in.

They have won awards perfectly safe for sleeping.

Sleepyhead all my friends babies slept in them overnight for months and lived to tell the tale!

Beanbags are really unsafe, sleepyheads are safe when supervised but their own guidance says not to use unsupervised. I'd go for a sleepyhead or nothing..

Sleepyhead, both mine were very settled in them.

I thought sleepyhead didn't count as a sleep positioned because it's not restrictive? It's a baby nest.

@timeless19 that's the issue with safety advice though, theres always people rushing to say "well I did this and my babies are fine" (insert cot bumpers, front sleeping, rusk in a bottle, uncut grapes, whiskey in gums for teething etc...) and trying to convince others it's all nanny state nonsense. The guidelines are there because some ones baby wasnt fine.

For what it's worth, my ds used to nap in the basinette of his pram when he was little. I dont know much about sleepy head vs other products but as long as you are using it under proper supervision there should be a reduction in risk so I suppose one isnt better than the other.

Another vote for a sleepyhead! Super handy to move around any room in the house. And shoot me, but my 2 year old slept overnight in hers until 7months old and I intend to do the same with this one I’m about to pop out. The sides are completely breathable, I understand that baby nests are not recommended, and there are plenty of cheap knockoffs, but I really rate the sleepyhead. And trust it to use again this time round.
Might be a co-incidence but my first born slept through from 4 weeks in the sleepyhead, so I’m praying this next baby does the same 😅 if he doesn’t then I take back my recommendation 😂

One of the free Baby Boxes is perfect for downstairs sleeping until they outgrow it, and you just pay for postage.

Anything with raised padded sides is a risk. Says they are supposed to be supervised while in them which would be hard to do if you are asleep!

We've got great use out of our Sleepyhead. I did my research and was comfortable using it. They are pricey though but it's been worth it for us.

Someone gifted us a bean bag for DD and she was in it once. She hated it and I didnt feel like it was very secure. I only used it when I was watching would not reccomend for overnight sleeping. I wouldn't have a sleepyhead either, as I don't think they are reccomended by the Lullaby Trust. If I didn't have a moses basket I think I would have used the bassinet from my pram as a lot of them are breathable & safe for sleeping I think (obviously would check this with the individual manufacturers)

We have a purflo best cheaper than sleepyhead and worked great

I wanted a sleepyhead decided against it because they say not to use unsupervised so decided on the pram top but when dd arrived we decided we wanted her somewhere we could watch her sleep so went out and got a moses basket.

We have a poddle pod and really like it (similar to a sleepyhead but much cheaper) - have just ordered the next size up. DS slept in it in his crib for the first month or so and now just uses it for naps downstairs or if we're going to the in-laws for a day.

For downstairs we had a Hauck sit n relax - height adjustable recliner seat that lies flat, and later converts to a high chair. Dd had her naps and slept for the evening until we went up to bed brilliantly in it. We got so much use out of it.

Guys I want to stress a point that this is solely for just downstairs use not overnight and of course the child will be supervised at all times in it!

Yes lullaby trust doesn't recommend a whole lot of things except old school traditional items.

Loads of websites recommend and state a whole lots of different opinions and facts.

I don't want to get a Moses basket as Iv heard and seen sooooo many people's stories about there baby never using it and never settling in it and I personally don't like any of them.

From the feedback so far I will not be getting a bean bag but definitely will be looking into a sleepyhead deluxe +

You make it sound like the lullaby trust is trying to be awkward when all they are doing is trying to prevent unnecessary baby deaths!

When I looked into this for my second, as they’d started recommending not to use them since my first, I read that there had been no deaths in a sleepyhead in Europe. There had been a very small number in the USA though in the same product sold under a different name. I decided to take the risk, as there were no other SIDS risk factors in our case, and my first had settled so much better in one than just in the crib.

I don't think there have been any deaths in the US due to a Sleepyhead either (what they call a Dock-a-Tot). I certainly can't find any reference to any. Where did you read that?

Lullaby Trust don’t recommend them because a lot of people confuse them with sleep positioners (which are dangerous) or buy second / third hand mould filled ones. They are, however, perfectly safe.

We researched the sleepy head and were happy to use it. Worth it's weight in gold imo
