DH and I are considering the following names for DD who is due in 9 weeks. However, we can not agree on which one. The middle name will be Jayne.

Amber
Grace
Isabel
Ruby

Any thoughts or suggestions welcome.

Thanks

Jay

Flumpybumpy, I agree Scarlett is a lovely name too, might suggest that to DH later, it is also likely that she will have red hair(as do I and DS)so it would def. suit her.

Really want to pick correctly for her.

Thanks again.

I don't like Grace, what if she wasn't a graceful child?
Amber and Ruby are ok but Ruby is SOOOOOOO popular now.
Isobel the best, but also very popular. What about Isabella to be slightly different?

sauce · 02/08/2007 14:42

Isabella Jayne great name.

Meeely2 · 02/08/2007 14:43

love them all! Amber is my fav, then grace, then ruby, then isabel. I also like (by way of confusing you further)

Lily
Paige
Rose

Depends on your surname too....plus it REALLY REALLY depends on what they look like!

I had picked Ewan and Rohan for my twins, they were born 11 weeks early and they ended up Edward and Arthur - they couldn't have been anything else when i finally saw them.

sauce · 02/08/2007 14:43

Two monosyllabic names together are not good.

moljam · 02/08/2007 14:44

love them all.not as keen on amber for some reason but ruby, isobel and grace i love

Peachy · 02/08/2007 14:44

All nice, Amber / grace / Ruby ? isabel in that order, sadly Amber and Ruby not possible here due to surname (Amber P{each?? Can you imagine? Wouldn't know whetehr to PMSL or market poor baby as an air freshener....)

mslucy · 02/08/2007 14:45

Love Amber and Ruby - who cares if they're popular.

also like Violet, Florence and Agatha!

Peachy · 02/08/2007 14:46

Oh yes Scarlett is nice, planned to use that as a younger woman, but pre dh- again back to that surname....

Quite like Flame, bt no point suggesting as DH would just phsl

Notyummy · 02/08/2007 14:54

We had Grace and Isabel on our list....however I SOOOOO agree on it mattering what they look like. When our 9 lb very angry dd was dragged screaming into the world, she was big, beautiful, noisy, hairy.....but not Graceful! Hence she is Isabel Amy.....

noddyholder · 02/08/2007 14:55

Isobel and Grace are lovley but not with jayne

emj23 · 02/08/2007 14:56

I like Grace best (although it doesn't really go with Jayne IMHO) followed by Ruby and then Isabel. Sorry, I'm not keen on Amber.

nailpolish · 02/08/2007 14:57

Grace IMo doesnt go with Jayne

and its becoming quite popular

i like Ruby

BecklePhoenixBird · 02/08/2007 15:56

Grace is lovely but doesn't go with Jayne.
Ruby would be my next fave

berolina · 02/08/2007 16:08

Isabel, definitely. Lovely name, and on our choices list for a hypothetical dd. I also think it works OK with Jayne (family name, I assume?)

lljkk · 02/08/2007 16:15

Nobody knows how to spell Isabel, though (is it Isobel? Isobelle? Isabelle, Isabella...). Go for Isobel if you want your child to find "personalised" items (pencils, cups, etc.) on shop shelves with their name on it.

Desiderata · 02/08/2007 16:18

I like Ruby.

madmumof5 · 02/08/2007 16:20

how about evie grace

backtobasics · 02/08/2007 16:27

Isobelle is a lovely name and it's my dd's middle name. Don't worry about people not being able to spell it, people spell my name wrong all the time and at least Isobelle starts with 'I', my name can be spelt with two letters.

mum2george · 02/08/2007 20:17

Jayj, I love them all but the thing that would put me off is how many there are at the moment. Suppose thats because my name was very popular at the time and ended up in a class with 5 of us all with the same name, very confusing.

JayJ · 03/08/2007 13:37

"(Amber P{each?? Can you imagine? Wouldn't know whetehr to PMSL or market poor baby as an air freshener....)"

Peachy, sat here giggling to myself, can just picture an air freshener with Amber peach on it!

Jayne is a family name and will deffinately be used as a middle name but not as a 1st name as is the tradition. (it is getting too confusing)

Been giving myself a headache thinking about names so have decided to meet the little one first then decide. Who knows may get an extra suprise and she could turn out to be a he!

beau82 · 03/08/2007 16:57

Grace is v.elegant

MuffinMclay · 03/08/2007 17:11
