Hi all!

Just over 26weeks, having a girl and put on 17lbs. I'm normally always on some kind of fad diet but since being pregnant have been very chilled about my diet.

In absolutely loving feeling my baby kick and wriggle and my DH finally felt her on Sunday too!

I'm conscious the next 3 months is going to fly by so this weekend is the start of the nursery

T x

HJWT · 23/07/2019 11:08

@NMCB aww lovely! We aren't even getting a cot this time let alone doing the nursery 😂 I do love scrolling through Pinterest though to get ideas xx

What prams have people chosen/ going to get? Really need to get ours sorted

HJWT · 23/07/2019 14:41

@YorkshireIndie we got the Bugaboo Fox this time, we had iCandy Peach with DD but sold it after 10 months as the seat was so small!

How has everyone coped today in the heat wave ? I fell asleep before DH said I looked like I was hibernating but because its to hot instead of cold 🥵🤣

@YorkshireIndie, we’ve bought the Nuna Demi Grow as there isn’t as much choice when you’re having twins!! It’s sitting in the boxes in our sitting room ready for being needed - and, I’ll be taking the car seats with us to Surrey this weekend on the instructions of the hospital!!

Down here in Cornwall the heat isn’t as bad as further up the country (was 27c today) and we’ve got a breeze off the moors which helps. I’m thankful I’m no longer in Surrey or working so I can hide indoors away from the heat!!

Frizzy1986 · 23/07/2019 18:41

@YorkshireIndie ours is an icandy of some kind. It's from my sister as a hand me down. No way I can afford to pay £100s on a pram system that to be honest, last time we stopped using after around 6 months.

@HJWT it's so hot. I'm currently sat with frozen peas on my ankle as they have swollen so much. Work wasn't too bad temp wise but the car journey home, a nip to the shops to get ice lollies with a 5 year old, straight home to make tea, wash up and now playing with dd. I need to sit down for the rest of the evening.
Dh has disappeared upstairs to change into shorts. He's been gone 20mins.

Positivity86 · 23/07/2019 18:50

@YorkshireIndie we have got the SilverCross Pioneer. We got a good deal at the baby show a couple of months back!

@HJWT I'm thankful to have been in the office with good air con most of the day! It clocked 34 degrees in my car on the way home from work. It makes me sooo tired too!

HJWT · 23/07/2019 18:55

@Rememberallball why do they want you to bring carseats? Surely if they were born now they would have to stay in! We would of got the Nuna if DD was younger or if we do have a 3rd 😉 its a lovely pram x

@Frizzy1986 I actually just laughed and DH gave me a funny look 😏 sounds just like my DH! Don't these men realise they should be helping us with our every need in this heat! Haha x

Its currently 28 here and the sun goes down at the back of the house on the living room and master bedroom so currently have 2 fans in the living room! X

@HJWT can't believe a 3rd even sets foot in your mind!! It took me 5 years to agree to a second 😂
Apparently dh had a little nap. Yep, nice that, a nap. Don't mind me, I work full time as well, and seem to cook most meals, do most of the washing up, do all the washing, and make all the plans for holidays etc oh and I'm carrying around a baby in my tummy. But it's fine, you have a nap while I play junior cluedo with dd (granted it was fun as at least we weren't playing schools) but my god you could've done something else to help instead of snoozing.

Rememberallball · 23/07/2019 21:57

@HJWT, they recommend I bring/take car seats in case they are in for a few weeks and then discharged from wherever they’re born rather than transferred to a more local hospital to home!! I’m fairly sure that, were they to come when we’re away from home, the hospital where I would deliver would want to transfer us back to our local trust as soon as is practicable in which case they’d be in incubators in an ambulance!! I may discuss it with DH but he doesn’t drive so, if we don’t take the seats, he’d have to negotiate public transport (coach or train) with them to get to us so would just be easier to have them in the car.

Rememberallball · 23/07/2019 22:03

@Positivity86, we got our travel system at the Baby a show in May too; got a very good deal and I persuaded them to throw in the changing bag that goes with their products (a mere saving of £120 😱😱) as an extra incentive to spend my money with them!!

AngeloMysterioso · 24/07/2019 00:20

My flat is like a goddamn oven 🥵 we have south facing floor to ceiling windows so the sun shines right in pretty much all day, we’re on the top floor so we get all the rising heat from the 3 floors below us and the roof is black so it soaks up even more heat! The thermostat didn’t get below 30° in here til gone 10pm, it’s now a sweatybalmy 28.5°, and that’s with all the windows and balcony door wide open all day. Luckily I’ve not had too many problems thus far with feet or anything swelling up, but it’ll be even hotter tomorrow and Thursday so I’m not counting my chickens! I do sleep on my side though and woke up last night sweating profusely between my boobs, that was delightful...

DH and I haven’t bought a single thing for our baby yet Blush mostly because we’re supposed to be moving house soon (sale was agreed in February so we hoped we’d be out before the summer, no bloody luck there) so we thought we may as well wait til we’re in the new place rather than trying to cram loads of baby gear into our already full to bursting flat! The baby show sounds great, I’ve heard of people getting some great bargains but the next one isn’t til the 18th-20th October... that’s cutting it way too fine, right?

HJWT · 24/07/2019 00:46

@Frizzy1986 Men! They can be pretty selfish 🤣 yeah we probably wont end up with a 3rd unless its an accident 🤔 x

@Rememberallball Ah! I see, not to mention they have to do the carseat test before they can go home anyway! Thats a great saving, we got our pram of Natural Baby Shower so saved 10% which really helped 😏

@AngeloMysterioso I am currently led in bed alone, in a pool of sweat feeling sick with heartburn ! Poor DH has had to go and get in bed with DD because she is so hot she keeps waking up crying 😪 breaks my heart, we have only lived here 3 years but will be moving now cant cope with another summer in this house!!

Phew @HJWT I thought you just might be crazy for a minute!
My dd had trouble getting to sleep tonight too. I managed to get her to sleep by giving her a cool shower at about 9pm which seems to have done the trick.
@AngeloMysterioso yeah I think late October might be pushing it. Hopefully there's still a chance that you'll move and there are always some offers around even if you have to search a bit.
Selling sites can offer some good deals on practically new items (although I'd always get the car seat and base from new in case they lie about them being in a accident)
@Rememberallball that makes total sense, although thinking of someone trying to negotiate two car seats on public transport on their own has made me giggle a little.

I'm frustrated tonight. Had an absolute outburst at dh tonight. Feel a little bad as it kind of started from nothing, but he has generally been a bit of a t#*t through some of this pregnancy.
I feel like I've spent the last decade looking after him (doing his washing, cooking his meals, sorting a mortgage, looking at homes to buy, planning and booking holidays, sorting our wedding etc etc)
All I want is him to grow some balls and step up. He was rather useless at times last pregnancy and did some pretty bad things when dd was young which tested our relationship to the limit. I told him if we had another, he had to up his game as I wasn't putting up with it next time.
It feels like the same all over again. He'll moan at me for carrying the shopping in and not letting him help, yet will sit there and watch as I carry washing baskets all round the house, stand for ages making meals and washing up and has been less than positive about how he thinks ill get on with hypnobirthing. Saying he doesn't think it will help me so it might be pointless him reading up on it. Yeah, because that negativity is really helpful, wish he'd just keep it to himself and pretend like he thinks I can do it.
I think it's exhaustion, hormones and the heat but I don't think he has any idea how tough being pregnant is and that I've still got a huge task to come. Not like he is going to be pushing a baby out if his vagina or anything while in utter agony.
Am i being too cruel? Are all your partners being saints, or am I just over reacting?

YorkshireIndie · 24/07/2019 06:43

AngeloMysterioso we are in the same position but our estate agents seem to be driving the chain. They want it all completed ASAP. I have put my foot down and said that if it looks like we won't complete until October then we are not moving until November. Would that be worth saying to your estate agents? My mum did something similar when she was moving and that seemed to kick everyone into action

@Frizzy1986 I totally know how you feel! DH has been a bit better since I got pregnant but he is very insensitive at times! They will never understand what its like to be pregnant especially in this heat! 🥵

YorkshireIndie with us it’s starting to feel like DH and I are the only ones who actually care about getting anything done, he’s had to do so much chasing! Currently cautiously hoping to be out by the end of August.

I’ve only put on about a stone in weight which is less than 6 and a half kgs, should I be worried? Apparently the average for this point in gestation is 8-11kgs...

HJWT · 24/07/2019 15:17

@AngeloMysterioso no thats normal 🤣 x

How is everyone finding today? I swear my bump has grown 5 times in size since last night 🤦🏻‍♀️

Frizzy1986 · 25/07/2019 16:17

Urgh today is not fun. Too hot! I've had the day off work and had a growth scan this morning as my bump measured under the 5th percentile last week. Scan shows baby is right on 50th though so all good.
We spent the morning in the paddling pool and then went inside to cool off. After some deliveries for dds new room we drove 30mins to get cake from a bakery I've always wanted to go to.
We timed it perfectly as we arrived and they had lots left and had reduced everything to half price as they needed to sell it. Obviously people weren't out cake buying in this heat. Yay for me! Booo for my post pregnancy weight loss.

Frizzy1986 · 25/07/2019 20:47

Am taking dd for a swim tomorrow. Cue panic of realising I need to "tidy up" before I can wear swimwear in public. Patchy comes to mind for the most likely outcome!!
