Wanted to start a thread for all the October mums to be if not as no one to talk to in the real world 🤞🏻

I am due 19th with a little boy and already have a DD(3)

Cant believe its only 12 weeks until October 😬

@SRK16 mumsnet kept doing that to me last week and the week before. Found it very frustrating.. seems to have stopped now.
Managed to put the washing on the line and another in the machine and it was like I had run a marathon. Took me another 2 hours before I could get the energy to go shopping.
It’s going to be a long last few weeks.

YorkshireIndie · 04/09/2019 18:58

Good idea @HJWT

Spent today feeling very pregnant and very tired. Sent the new starter home early as he wasn't listening to me (even told him that)

Oh and the midwife rang to say that I have anaemia

HJWT · 04/09/2019 19:19

@YorkshireIndie oh no! Think I need to go & see the midwife I keep seeing stars ✨ 🤔

How is everyone tonight? I had a long day of driving & meetings at work. Felt super uncomfortable from sitting to long. Wallowing in the bath now, which is lovely - but I may need a crane to lift me out! I feel very pregnant today.

Congratulations on the flat @AngeloMysterioso. I hope things go smoothly for you this time.

I hope your dd has a great day back at school @Frizzy1986.

How was being back at school @Maryrobinson81? Not too hard, I hope. I took ds(4) to the midwife last week & it was super sweet how excited he was to hear the heartbeat.

@newbabyyy2019 i’ve Not got a cold, but have got super thirsty in the night all of a sudden. Which basically means waking up every hour for a wee. So annoying!

@secretlyhermione I’m with @HJWT2 on recommending the one up one down method of dressing for bf. So easy. Those vests with clips are ace. I actually used to just pull a normal stretchy vest top down. I fed ds for 2.5 years, and I found that a lot less restrictive than trying to find special bf clothes. Plus, my norks are ginormous and didn’t actually fit properly through the holes in some feeding tops I tried 😂🍉🍉

Impressive cleaning @SRK16! I really hope my nesting instinct kicks in soon! This house is a tip!

HJWT · 04/09/2019 21:45

@cattaxi exactly my melons are to big also 😂

I honestly love the idea of nesting! So much I want to do but my back is not going to allow me to do it! Iv decided to rope DH into a big clean / Set everything up when I am 37 weeks and then try and keep on top of it 🤔

I had a bath last night, I think it was my last for a while! I really struggled to get out 🤦🏻‍♀️🤣

Iv just built DD's doll pram for her birthday, it was harder than the real baby's pram!!

Anyone else's baby get the hiccups? Never felt it with DD but this baby gets them at least once if not twice a day 🤭 thats me going to be up all night winding him!

OP posts:
Frizzy1986 · 04/09/2019 22:37

I haven't been able to get out of a bath for weeks 😂

I used breast vests last time which are basically vests with the top of it under the bust so it turns any top into a feeding top. I'm planning on using again this time as it was much easier.

This baby has hiccups all the time. I never once felt them with dd but did have an anterior placenta which is probably why.

Dd had a lovely first day of school but has been a nightmare tonight. I think she's just tired but it was awful. I had to carry her upstairs to force some snuggle time to calm her down.

36 week midwife was today and baby is currently head down and free. So good position at the moment. Can they still turn to breech? Or is it too tight in there now?

2 days left of work and I can't wait!! I want dh to do a big house clean but I don't think that will happen. No way I can do it. I'm tempted to see if a cleaner could come for like 4 hours and do a mass clean and then ill feel better. There's cobwebs everywhere as dh doesn't clear them, and most chores won't get done if I don't do them and currently I can't do them so house is a mess.

cattaxi · 04/09/2019 23:06

I have to get dh to steady me getting out of the bath! Very sexy 🐳🏗

@HJWT2 I don’t think I’ve felt this baby or ds have hiccups. This one is a proper wriggler though. I keep getting knees that feel like they are going to burst out of the side of the bump.

Maryrobinson81 · 04/09/2019 23:22

First day back at work was ok for me today! I teach students who are excluded from mainstream, and they were pleased to be back, sadly many are happier and feel safer at school with us. Was knackered by this afternoon though! Although behaviour is often very challenging and I have to get out a classroom quick if it gets dangerous! At the moment planning on finishing at 38 weeks.

I’ve a very wriggly baby, this one is the most active of all my children I’m think. hiccups, limbs and feet poking out, rolls and twists, the lot!!

YorkshireIndie · 05/09/2019 08:02

How did everyone sleep? I woke up at 1.45am and fell back to sleep at about 3.30. Needed a wee and then the baby was awake and just spent the time dozing. Thank goodness it is Thursday

Em39ma · 05/09/2019 08:33

I’ve been up since 4.30am, gave up at 5 and came down stairs.
Dog is now cry by the kitchen door because DH still isn’t up and she wants here walk now! She is such a daddies girl.
Now got a very sore shoulder, as lying funny to try and stop the hip pain. It’s not working and now have that as well.
I’m feeling very pregnant, can hardly get off the sofa, let alone out of a bath.

userabcname · 05/09/2019 08:47

Urgghhh been back at work since Monday and already exhausted and sick of stupid comments about my bump! My back is killing me today. Thank GOD I only have one more week, I somehow made it to 38w last time and don't know how I did it!

I am sleeping better now I'm exhausted from work but only in chunks of about 2 hours before I wake up uncomfortable/needing the loo/ with heartburn / aching hips or backs / thirsty / too hot. Guess it's good training for the newborn sleep to come!

I noticed I missed a convo about bf friendly clothes - I did use nursing specific clothes to begin with as found it easier but once I was confident I just went for general easy-access clothes. I have packed nursing tops (well, dresses but going to wear with leggings) in my hospital bag for this time but then will probably go to general bf-ing clothes. The primark long line vest tops are great for tummy coverage with a top over it to pull up. I will say I don't think anything can beat a nursing hoodie though and I'm probably going to buy a couple of those in winter.

newbabyyy2019 · 05/09/2019 10:25

Another awful nights sleep.. all due to this awful head cold that I've got. I can't breathe properly through my nose and my ears are blocked and throat feels horrendous! Been taking paracetamol which just isn't doing much 😩 I ended up going downstairs at 2am because my DP (who I wouldn't class as dear last night) kept waking me up to tell me I was breathing too loud due to my blocked nose 😒 didn't end up going to sleep until around 5am and then got woken up at 6 by DP going to work.. I just hope I don't go into labour when I feel like this I couldn't think of anything worse than giving birth feeling ill aswell as the pain!
..Onto another subject, has anyone got any suggestions for good nursing bras? I still haven't purchased one!

Maryrobinson81 · 05/09/2019 13:34

@newbabyyy2019
I’m wearing the bralettes from m&s at the moment, the large cup size, surprisingly supportive and really comfy and I’ll be able to flop a boob out if I think! A nursing version would be great though. Don’t know if anyone used boob or bust Facebook group but I size myself based on their theory and it changed my boob life! Smaller bands and larger cups basically but they have measuring instructions and advise.
I have always been a one up and down wearer too for nursing, and this time of year heading into autumn it’s an extra layer of warmth on tummy!!

SunshineSophia · 05/09/2019 13:35

Hi everyone, how are you all doing? Sorry it's been about a week since I've been online but I've been trying to keep up with everyone's updates :)

Hope all is well with everyone x

SRK16 · 05/09/2019 13:43

@HJWT2 Mine has had hiccups, such a bizarre feeling!

Sleep wasn’t too bad last night, only up 3 times to wee and didn’t lie awake which was great.

I’m officially on maternity leave! Not sure what to do with myself...

secretlyhermione · 05/09/2019 14:31

My little bean is super active and I've def felt him/her hiccuping a lot of times which I find quite sweet!
Question for the ladies who have breastfed and are expecting their second child - how bad is it really?? We had our class on breastfeeding today at the neonatal course and our midwife was very honest and said it's harder than the labour, but to try not to give up, and I've just been hearing quite a lot of horror stories, also from friends who have gone through it and really struggled. Any positive stories??? I'm hoping mine will be a natural latcher but that's not looking very likely...
In terms of pregnancy symptoms I am still feeling extremely hot and am so over the heat! I just want proper autumn weather now!!

newbabyyy2019 · 05/09/2019 14:43

@Maryrobinson81 thanks I'll have a look at m&s! Been having a look around online and can't believe how expensive some nursing bras are Shock
@secretlyhermione
Everyone that I have spoken to about breastfeeding have said that the first 10 days are the worse but if you can get past those 10 days then you'll be fine! I hope this is true cause I suppose 10 days goes quite fast!

SRK16 · 05/09/2019 16:17

@secretlyhermione this is my first pregnancy so haven’t breastfed yet, but my antenatal class teacher was saying if you can get through the first ten days then you should be okay. She advised looking up in advance local breastfeeding groups so if you’re struggling you can get prompt advice, plus also looking at la leche league. Lots of places have breast feeding peed support workers so see if any near you?

Was just wondering what others have or are planning to get in terms of clothing? My mum and husband keep telling me not to buy anything more as they think we will get gifted things or baby will grow too fast to make use.. I’m happy not to overload myself with stuff and to buy stuff as I go along, but does the following sound like a good starting point?

Newborn: only one outfit (vest, sleep suit, hat) as baby is going to be big and feel it will only be in newborn stuff for a day or two?!
Up to one month: 6 sleepsuits, 6 vests
0-3 months: 9 sleepsuits, 6 vests, one jumper
3-6 months: 2 sleepsuits (feel don’t need much this far in advance?!)

Also have hats, socks, scratch mits for newborn- 3 months.
What do you guys think?

secretlyhermione · 05/09/2019 16:32

@newbabyyy2019 @SRK16 ok, never heard the 10 days things, but I have heard that it's important to persist! Thanks for the heads up :) I don't live in the UK but the hospital I chose has all day drop in hours for breastfeeding and I'm also going to try and find out if they have lactation consultants that come to your house etc as I'm sure the first few days post hospital I won't want to be going anywhere!
With regards to the clothes, I was also very confused about what to get. I've been lucky in that we've been gifted/borrowed most of our newborn clothes so I didn't have to splurge on those, also not knowing how big the baby is going to be (he/she is in the median range now) it's super hard to know what to buy! The only things I've bougtht have been in the 0-3 month range as at least those the baby can wear for a bit longer... but to answer your question @SRK16, I think that sound about right. I have some more newborn things but that's just because they've been borrowed, otherwise most friends have said just buy one as most of their babies were bigger than newborn size so ended up not using a lot. Then there's always amazon prime or a quick run for hubby to the shops if things are too small. Have also been advised that it's better to buy biggre (you can always roll up sleeves and pants) than too small. With regards to buying only one outfit though, apparently newborns are quite messy and need to be changed a few times if they spit up so maybe buy two/three sleepsuits just incase? I have no experience, but just going on advice :D

secretlyhermione · 05/09/2019 16:37

Just realised I contradicted myself in that (pregnancy brain) by saying buy one newborn and then buy more haha. Anyway, to recap I would say maybe 2 newborn things, and the rest I would buy bigger. Anyway, it's that time of the day and I'm still in the office, so apologies!

Em39ma · 05/09/2019 17:19

I have quite a bit of clothing, but as that’s what I do now she was always going to have a lot of clothes. I had been running my children’s clothing business along side being a nanny, but now I just have the business.
Also knowing babies, they quite often need to be changed a couple of times a day.

HJWT · 05/09/2019 18:01

@newbabyyy2019 that sounds rough! Have you tried honey & lemon? (I sound like my mum!) I got a 2 pack from George Asda they seem good I tried them on 😁

HJWT · 05/09/2019 18:06

@secretlyhermione Honestly don't know why women go to these classes 🤦🏻‍♀️ I breastfed DD and never had a problem, I used nipple cream from the first feed and made sure I always re applied to stop them getting dry and cracked, I also pumped and never got sore nipples! As horrible as it sounds you should try nipple stimulation towards the end of pregnancy helps build them up a bit before baby comes! If your nipples do become sore try shields for a day to give them a rest x
