Hello guys.
I am 3 days away from my period. However I did a ovulation test today and it’s come back with two dark lines! Down below I’ve attacked photos the ones with faint control lines I took them two days ago and they looked like they was starting to turn negative but this morning I took one and lines came back positive and really dark!
Took a pregnancy test and came back negative.
What does this mean? Could I be pregnant?
Don’t understand why they was starting to turn negative then really dark positive xConfusedConfused

Hi OP,

It's probably because you've ovulated late and it's showing on the test now but that doesn't mean you're pregnant. Have you had unprotected sex in the past few days?

livin · 06/06/2019 15:22

Have you already tested positive for ovulation recently?

skyblue567890 · 06/06/2019 15:49

@livin hello thank you for replying. Yes I was using clear blue and I got a solid smiley face on 30 of may? Then negative ones after.
Then I started testing for ovulation test because I have been getting stomach pains and felt really tired lately.
And they was starting to go negative then this morning they was positive and the control like and test like was as dark as each other and I have read up it could mean pregnancy or could be having a lh surge just before period

But still getting negative pregnancy test maybe it's too early to test for pregnancy as I'm 3 days away from period

@MummyBear405 yes we have we had it day before I ovulated on a flashing smiley face on clear blue and a couple more times after

I'm not sure I'd pay too much attention to an ovulation test so close to AF, when did you actually ovulate?

skyblue567890 · 06/06/2019 16:22

@MummyBear405 I ovulated 30 of may which was a week ago

OP posts:
MummyBear405 · 06/06/2019 16:27

So you ovulated a week ago but your AF is due in 3 days? I think it's too early for a test to pick anything up even if you are pregnant and it's possible your period is going to be late anyway even if you aren't.

I'd give it a week and test again x

skyblue567890 · 06/06/2019 16:28

@MummyBear405 I have ordered early detection from 6 days before missed period. It's coming today. Do you think it would show up on early detection?Confused

OP posts:
MummyBear405 · 06/06/2019 16:38

Well if you think you conceived when you ovulated on 30th May, that's only just a week ago so I don't think there would be enough of the pregnancy hormone to show.

Also it's says 6 days before a missed period but as you only just ovulated last week I'm not sure your period is actually due in 3 days. I'd give it at least a week before testing again.

skyblue567890 · 06/06/2019 16:40

@MummyBear405 thank you, so you have any idea why I would be getting positive ovulation test if I have already ovulated then? They was going faint three days ago and now they have come back darker

OP posts:
MummyBear405 · 06/06/2019 16:44

I have no idea but I don't think doing ovulation test when you're closer to your AF is doing any good, if anything it's going to drive you crazy and not give you any information about what's happening.

I'd stick to pregnancy tests and give it a week. Good luck x

skyblue567890 · 06/06/2019 16:47

@MummyBear405 your right I'll put a hold on testing figures crossed I get a positive outcome 🤞🏼 will test again in a week if period has not turned up Grin

Mammyofasuperbaby · 06/06/2019 16:58

Op, why do you think your period is due in 3 days? That would give you a lp of 10 days which is going to make getting pregnant hard.
How long are your cycles usually?

skyblue567890 · 06/06/2019 17:00

@MummyBear405 they normally last 28 days but I have a period tracker and it says I'm due Sunday

OP posts:
skyblue567890 · 06/06/2019 17:01

@MummyBear405 my last period was on 19th may

OP posts:
Mammyofasuperbaby · 06/06/2019 17:10

I think its more likely that you've ovulated late and you are actually due on the 13th rather than the 9th and this cycle is going to be a bit longer.
Does your tracker track ovulation as well as your periods?

Based on the dates you've stated your app is saying that your cycle will be 22 days long

skyblue567890 · 06/06/2019 17:16

Yeah on the app it says I ovulated on the 25th but my clear blue test showed I ovulated on 30th but was getting flashing smileys for a while before I got my solid smiley

It is possible to ovulate twice in a month. I tested three day's before AF was officially due on a FRER and got a very, very faint line (but negatives on all others). My first glaring dark pregnancy positive wasn't until four days after AF was due so if you see a line (any line or even if you don't), continue to test. Cheap £1 Asda red dye tests should show a hint of a line from about a day before AF is due in my experience but everyone's different.

skyblue567890 · 06/06/2019 17:21

@livin okay perfect will try that! Thank you for your help

Mammyofasuperbaby · 06/06/2019 17:23

I'd ignore the app and go with the tests as they are more accurate. So based on the tests and your info, your LMP was 19th may, you ovulated 30th may and your next period is due 13-14th June. You are currently 7dpo and it is far to early to test for anything. Testing from the 11th June will give better results.
I use an app called clue, it tracks everything and I just put in my period dates and ovulation dates and it uses past data to predict my future cycles. It changes based on the data I put in and corrects itself.

skyblue567890 · 06/06/2019 17:29

@MummyBear405 thanks so much that helps a bunch. Will try that app. How accurate is the app xSmile

OP posts:
Mammyofasuperbaby · 06/06/2019 17:36

As long as you keep the info up to date it is very accurate. I have pcos so my cycles are all over the place and its pretty good with that.
FYI you are tagging the wrong person when you are responding to me Smile
